De La Rosa lost his spot on the Dodgers' 40-man roster earlier in the week after Hector Olivera's signing became official. The 25-year-old lefty struggled in six appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season but turned in a 2.95 ERA in 36.2 innings with Arizona last season, albeit with a reverse platoon split (.233/.320/.302 vs. RHB, .309/.377/.418 vs. LHB).

With the A's sporting a deep pitching staff, De La Rosa will likely have to start his season at Triple-A Nashville. He should get a shot in the big-league bullpen before the end of the season, but he'll likely just be working as a LOOGY and/or middle reliever.

De La Rosa spent his first significant time in the Majors in 2014 and compiled a 2.95 ERA with 32 strikeouts over 36.2 innings. He should compete for a spot in the A's bullpen in 2015, but the A's do have a number of lefty relievers certain to make the squad, so De La Rosa could end up in Triple-A to start the year.
