CHICAGO (AP) — Christian Walker is out of the starting lineup for the Arizona Diamondbacks' series finale against the Chicago Cubs because of a hip pointer.Walker got hurt on a play at the plate during Saturday's 6-0 victory. The first baseman finished with a career-high four hits.Wilmer Flores got the start at first on Sunday. Walker says he is available off the bench and should be ready to go for Monday night's series opener at Pittsburgh. The Diamondbacks also recalled right-hander Jimmie Sherfy from the Triple-A Reno. Clarke worked three innings and singled in the eighth to become the first pitcher with a save and a hit in his major league debut since saves became an official stat in 1969, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.___More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

NEW YORK (AP) — Aaron Judge won't be back with the New York Yankees anytime soon, a further blow to an injury-decimated team with a mediocre record 3½ weeks into the season.New York's biggest offensive threat and the heart of its clubhouse went on the injured list for the third time in four seasons Sunday, a day after straining the oblique muscle on the left side of his abdomen while hitting a sixth-inning single against Kansas City."Pretty significant strain in there," manager Aaron Boone said. "These next couple of weeks will kind of be a lot of just the healing process, so I think once we get through these first couple of weeks then we'll have a better timeline."Judge broke his right wrist when hit by a pitch by the Royals' Jakob Junis last July 26 and did not return until Sept. 14. The Yankees were 65-36 when Judge went on the DL, went 25-20 while he was out, then won 10 of their final 16 games en route to a second-place finish in the AL East.He became the Yankees' major league-... NEW YORK (AP) — Aaron Judge has a "pretty significant strain" of his left oblique, according to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, and it will be several weeks before New York can even estimate when the slugger will return.Boone said Sunday that Judge will need to rest and allow the injury to heal. Judge was hurt Saturday while swinging at a pitch against Kansas City.He became the Yankees' 13th player on the disabled list and the 14th overall this season, joining Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Hicks, Gary Sánchez, Didi Gregorius, Miguel Andújar and Greg Bird. Those six and Judge accounted for 175 of the team's record 267 homers last year and 515 of the 821 RBIs.Judge sustained a season-ending right oblique strain while fouling off a pitch against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sept. 13, 2016.Infielder Thairo Estrada, the only remaining healthy position player on the 40-man roster, was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Estrada, recovered from a February 2018 gunshot wound sustained in Venezuela, would make his major league debut.Sánchez, out since April 10 with a strained left calf, is scheduled to play a rehabilitation game Monday with Class A Charleston and could be activated before Wednesday's game at the Los Angeles Angels.___More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Boston Red Sox placed right-hander Nathan Eovaldi on the 10-day injured list on Saturday because of an elbow injury. The team, which made the move retroactive to Thursday, said Eovaldi has two "loose bodies" in his right elbow. He has had two Tommy John operations and also had surgery last year to remove loose bodies in the elbow."It's just frustrating when you're coming off a good outing and you're taking the right steps forward, and you have to have this and you just can't throw," said Eovaldi, who informed the Red Sox on Thursday night that he could not straighten his right arm.He had pitched six innings against the New York Yankees on Wednesday night.Eovaldi and Dave Dombrowski, Red Sox president of baseball operations, said the injury appears to be similar to the one that sidelined the pitcher for the first two months of 2018.It has yet to be determined whether more surgery is the best option."Don't know until the doctor takes a look at it," Dombro... NEW YORK (AP) — Dustin Pedroia's painful left knee forced him out of Wednesday night's 5-3 loss to the Yankees after 1 1/2 innings, and the Boston second baseman planned to remain in New York for an examination rather than travel with the team to Tampa Bay.The 2008 AL MVP was hurt when he fouled off an 0-1 pitch from J.A. Happ in the second inning, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said."I was surprised that he came up to me and told me that, but at least he was honest," Cora said. "He was down. I haven't seen him like that. Hopefully, it's nothing serious, and it's something that he just got scared."Eduardo Núñez replaced Pedroia for the bottom half.Pedroia was activated from the injured list April 9 and is 2 for 20 at the plate. He has been slowed since a slide into his surgically repaired left knee at second base by Baltimore's Manny Machado on April 21, 2017. Dr. Riley Williams III of the Hospital for Special Surgery operated on Pedroia's left knee on Oct. 25, 2017, and Pedroia was limited to three big league games in 2018, from May 26-29.Cora said Pedroia would not be examined by the surgeon but by another doctor.Pedroia, 35, had not played the field since Saturday, and Cora said Pedroia also has been feeling ill. The Red Sox play three games on artificial turf at Tama Bay starting Friday, so another trip to the injured list is possible.___More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Athletics placed pitcher Marco Estrada on the 10-day injured list because of a lumbar strain, one day after a second consecutive shaky outing.Estrada allowed seven runs and walked three in 3 1/3 innings in Tuesday night's loss to the Houston Astros. It was the second straight start that Estrada failed to make it past the fourth."He's had some back and hip things kind of in concert giving him a little trouble right now," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "He's had that in the past. We knew that 30-plus starts were probably not going to be realistic, and from time to time that this is something we were going to have to do with him. We knew all that going in."Estrada signed a $4 million, one-year contract with Oakland in the offseason and has been second in Melvin's rotation. The A's are winless in his five starts.Right-hander Chris Bassitt was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas and is expected to take Estrada's place in the rotation.__More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/tag/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A remarkable baseball streak ended Wednesday when Joey Votto innocuously popped out to first base. The slugger somehow had made 6,827 plate appearances over 13 seasons with the Reds without ever popping out to first. He finally did it in Cincinnati's 3-2 loss at Dodger Stadium, fouling out to Cody Bellinger to end the eighth.Votto had played 1,591 games in a career that began in late 2007 without ever popping up to first. The six-time All-Star first baseman is a career .310 hitter, always showing strong plate discipline and rarely wasting at-bats. Votto had popped up only 88 previous times in his career, including only seven popups from 2010-18.Dodgers reliever Pedro Baez induced the popup on a belt-high 3-1 outside changeup.___More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
