The Pittsburgh Pirates made a series of pitching moves Saturday, recalling left-hander Cory Luebke and selecting right-hander Curtis Partch from Triple-A Indianapolis.Pittsburgh also optioned right-handers Wilfredo Boscan and Rob Scahill to Indianapolis.To make room for Partch on the 40-man roster, the Pirates transferred right-hander Ryan Vogelsong from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list.Vogelsong was placed on the disabled list on May 24, a day after he was hit in the face on a pitch thrown by the Colorado Rockies' Jordan Lyles and sustained facial fractures. He had surgery on Thursday.Luebke, who is beginning his third stint with the club this season, has made just three appearances due to spending time on the disabled list.Partch is 1-0 with three saves and a 1.30 ERA in 18 relief appearances for Indianapolis.Boscan is 1-0 with a 2.92 ERA in 12 1/3 innings with Pittsburgh and 3-4 with a 2.48 ERA in seven starts with Indianapolis.Scahill has a 2.89 ERA in nine Triple-A appearances and a 3.18 ERA in 12 games with Pittsburgh.

Partch entered spring training as an extreme longshot to make the roster, and he didn't help his cause at all in seven Cactus League appearances with the big club. The right-hander was charged with 12 runs (eight earned) on 13 hits and four walks with just three strikeouts in eight innings. He's not on the 40-man roster but could be an option if the Giants get desperate for a fresh arm.

While the right-hander gave up just two hits and did not allow a run in seven innings with the Reds last season, he walked seven batters and sported a .118 BABIP, resulting in a 4.42 FIP. Further, posted a 4.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with Triple-A Louisville, leading the Reds to decline to tender him a contract at the end of the season. He'll get to compete for one of the Giants' final bullpen spots as a non-roster invitee, but Partch seems destined for Triple-A Sacramento to begin 2015.

Partch turned in seven scoreless innings with the big club last season but struggled in 41 appearances with Triple-A Louisville, posting a 4.75 ERA and 54:25 K:BB over 47.1 frames. The fresh start with another club may prove beneficial to Partch, who spent eight years toiling in the Reds' system.
