Pinto, who has been playing DH at Triple-A Rochester in August, will not catch again this season, Twins manager Paul Molitor told MLB.com.
Pinto returned from the DL in mid-August after missing two months due to a concussion. Despite hitting .188 in August, it's possible he could be called up to the majors in September. However, serving as the Twins' third catcher isn't an option.

Pinto (concussion) has been cleared of all concussion symptoms and could return to action at Triple-A Rochester in the coming days, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Pinto has been out since early-June with concussion symptoms, but it appears he's finally nearing a return to the field. Rochester is likely to ease Pinto back into action as the DH for at least a few games before he plays the field.

Pinto (concussion) resumed limited baseball activities at Triple-A Rochester over the weekend, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press reports.
Pinto has been out more than a month with a concussion, and he recently took some time away from his rehab to rest. Now that he's resumed baseball activities, he'll likely ramp up his activity over the next few days in hopes of gaining full clearance to return. At this point, it's unclear whether he'll play in any rehab games.

Pinto began the season strong by hitting .284/.371/.431 with four home runs through May 19, but has slumped since and is hitting just .232/.306/.379 with six home runs. It's not clear how long he'll be sidelined or if his slump was a result of the injury.

Pinto has been in a slump at Triple-A Rochester as he's hitting just .205 in May and June. He's hitting .241/.315/.398 with six home runs overall.
Pinto's slump comes at a bad time as the Twins are lacking consistent production at DH in the majors.

Pinto is hitting .284/.371/.431 with four home runs for Triple-A Rochester.
Pinto continues to be stuck in purgatory in the Twins system as he's clearly shown he can master Triple-A and has been a decent hitter in the majors but can't find a way to get playing time in Minnesota. It's possible he could get called up after the Twins play interleague games this week with Kennys Vargas sent to the minors, but it seems unlikely as the Twins continue to want him to work on his defense behind the plate.

Pinto is hitting .314/.429/.429 with a home run in 10 games for Triple-A Rochester.
Pinto is off to a strong start to the season. He's already proven he can hit Triple-A pitching, but needs to convince the Twins his defense behind the plate is good enough to move up to the majors. The Twins should have given him an extended trial in the majors already, so it's not clear when he'll get another shot in the majors.
Thu Apr 2 201522:27Josmil Pinto: Sent To Triple-A
Pinto was sent to Triple-A Rochester, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Chris Herrmann won the backup catcher job to Kurt Suzuki. It's possible that Pinto may not be in the minors long since the Twins may feel he needs more at-bats after missing time this spring with injuries. However, the Twins continue to inexplicably find a major league role for Pinto even though he's shown he can be an impact bat (.784 career OPS in the majors). Pinto may need a trade to another organization to finally find a regular major league role.

Pinto was 1-for-2 with two walks in a minor league spring game Wednesday and it looks more likely he'll begin the season as the backup catcher, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Pinto missed time this spring due to a concussion and knee/quad injuries. But it sounds like he's healthy and has played enough for the team to add him to the 25-man roster. However, no decision on the backup catcher role has been made as Eric Fryer and Chris Herrmann also remain in the mix.

Manager Paul Molitor indicated that Pinto (concussion) will likely play in a minor league game Tuesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Pinto passed his concussion test Monday, and will finally get some work in. While he won't receive a lot before the season, it's possible he'll start the season in the majors. However, the club may also elect to start him in the minors in order to receive consistent at-bats.
Mon Mar 30 201510:40Pinto passed concussion test Monday and cleared to play in game
Pinto passed a concussion test Monday and has been cleared to play in a game, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
He could play at catcher as early as Monday. Pinto may begin the season at Triple-A since he has just 17 at-bats this spring between a concussion and knee/quad injuries. The Twins may want him to get regular at-bats in the minors early in the season to get in shape rather than serve as a backup in the majors.
Sun Mar 29 201512:29Pinto may need to begin regular season with Triple-A Rochester
Pinto may need to begin the regular season with Triple-A Rochester, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Pinto hasn't passed his concussion test yet, and manager Paul Molitor indicated Sunday that there is "not much time for that young man." If Pinto ends up opening the season in the minors, either Chris Herrmann or Eric Fryer would likely open the season as the backup catcher behind Kurt Suzuki. However, once Pinto is cleared and gets some work in with the minor league squad, he should return to the Twins.

Pinto is still working out so this may not be a setback. However, any more delays to his return to spring games could put his status for Opening Day in doubt.

Pinto (concussion) said Friday that he's been cleared to do "everything," Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
At this point, it appears Pinto is simply waiting for manager Paul Molitor to put his name on the lineup card. Pinto has been able to take part in baseball-related activities the last few days, so his return shouldn't be far away.
Thu Mar 26 201510:21Pinto (concussion) hopes to see game action by weekend
Pinto (concussion) hopes to see game action by the weekend, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.
