(AP) — Tyler Clippard pitched hitless ball for two innings for a players' association team against Japanese amateurs, trying to impress scouts and regain a major league job.Thirty-eight players have attended a free agent camp that opened Feb. 14, and the union put together an exhibition game Tuesday against the East Japan Railway Company.The starting lineup included center fielder Alejandro De Aza, catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, designated hitter Juan Francisco, first baseman Tyler Moore, right fielder Luke Scott, third baseman Chris Johnson, shortstop Omar Infante, left fielder Nolan Reimold and second baseman Tyler Ladendorf. The free agents won 2-0 in five innings, allowing just one hit. INF Tyler Ladendorf was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday due to a sprained left wrist. In 44 games for Oakland this year, he is hitting .083/.102/083 with one RBI.

INF Tyler Ladendorf was called up from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday. He was up with the big league club three times previously this season, during which time he hit .083 (3-for-36) with no extra-base hits, one RBI and 10 strikeouts in 35 games while playing second base, third base, right field and center field. He also got into one game as an emergency pitcher. Ladendorf, who hit .234 with one homer and six RBIs in 35 games at Nashville, will come off the bench and get an occasional start.

He was batting .273 with one home run and five RBIs in 25 games with Nashville. He made 15 appearances in center field, five in left field and five at shortstop. In nine games with Nashville since being sent down June 18, Ladendorf hit .344. "He does a little bit of everything for us," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "We'll get him a start here probably at second base on Sunday. I think when we ended up sending him down, he was as comfortable as we've seen him here at the big leagues." Before calling up Ladendorf, Melvin had a three-man bench with no backup infielder.
