The Phillies outrighted Rosin off their 40-man roster Friday, MLB.com reports.

Following the blockbuster trade earlier in the week that sent Cole Hamels to the Rangers, the Phillies needed to do some roster maintenance, and determined that Rosin was no longer deserving of his 40-man spot. He'll continue to stick around in the organization at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he's carrying a 3.67 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 54 innings while working out of the bullpen.

Rosin was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh on Sunday.

Philadelphia needed a starter for Sunday and Rosin was the lowest on the bullpen depth chart, so he was the one to go down. He didn't exactly impress in his sole relief appearance in the majors, allowing five runs and seven hits in two innings of relief work against the Cardinals on Saturday. There's a decent chance he returns to the big leagues thanks to the volatility in the Phillies' pitching staff.

Rosin was called up by the Phillies on Saturday.

The right-hander will come up to bolster a Phillies bullpen that was needed for five innings Friday, replacing Phillippe Aumont on the roster. Rosin has turned in a 2.65 ERA in 26 appearances with Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season, but he could end up heading right back down Sunday with the team needing to make room for starter Adam Morgan.

Rosin was reassigned to minor league camp Monday, the Phillies' official site reports.

Rosin made just two appearances this spring. He could be a candidate to see time in Philly later this season if he gets off to a good start in Triple-A.

The 25-year-old spent the entire 2013 season at Double-A Reading, where he registered a 4.33 ERA and 96-35 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 126 2/3 innings. Rosin is yet to pitch at the Triple-A level and has other Dodger relievers ahead of him on the depth chart, though his performance this spring undoubtedly has the right-hander on the big-league radar.
