Cincinnati Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton left Wednesday's game in the first inning with a facial contusion after being struck in the face by a line drive.With two runners aboard in the first inning, Anthony Rizzo hit a liner to left-center field.Left fielder Adam Duvall and Hamilton converged on the ball and nearly collided. The ball caromed off Duvall's glove and struck Hamilton near his left eye while Rizzo raced home for an inside the park homer to stake the Cubs to an early lead.After being visited by trainers, Hamilton walked off the field through the outfield bullpen gate. Tyler Holt replaced him in center.Hamilton is in concussion protocol for the second time this season.--The Arizona Diamondbacks are uncertain about Zack Greinke's availability for his next scheduled start Monday after he left Tuesday's game with soreness in his left oblique muscle. "We'll see how he comes in (Friday), if he's able to throw," manager Chip Hale said. "If he's not able to throw, there's no way," Because of an off day Thursday, the D-backs could start Archie Bradley on normal rest Monday. --Texas Rangers right-handed pitcher Yu Darvish (right shoulder discomfort) threw a three-inning simulated game that consisted of 46 pitches to Jurickson Profar and Ryan Rua. Texas has not decided what the next step is as of yet, but it is likely Darvish will need another outing somewhere before returning. --New York Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran (tight right hamstring) was not in Wednesday's starting lineup. Although the soreness has gone down from Tuesday, Beltran is unlikely to play Thursday.--Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run homer against Miami on Tuesday that made him the 50th player in major league history to homer against all 30 teams. --The Cincinnati Reds optioned struggling right-handed pitcher J.J. Hoover to Triple-A and recalled RHP Keyvius Sampson.--The Tampa Bay Rays activated outfielder Brandon Guyer off the 15-day disabled list. He had been sidelined more than three weeks with a hamstring but still leads the majors with 15 hit-by-pitches this season. Tampa Bay designated rookie outfielder Jaff Decker for assignment. He was hitting just .138.--Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story was not in the lineup Wednesday after re-aggravating his right middle finger on his final swing in the eighth inning Tuesday night. Story was hit on the finger with a pitch Sunday. Rockies second baseman DJ LeMahieu, who suffered a left knee contusion Sunday, was not in the lineup for the third straight game. --Toronto Blue Jays left-handed pitcher Brett Cecil (left lat strain) will rejoin the team Thursday in Toronto and likely will be activated for a game that night with Cleveland. --San Diego Padres right-handed pitcher Andrew Cashner (neck) continues to make progress and could start on Sunday in the series finale against the visiting New York Yankees.
