Wed Jan 26 201115:53Rockies pursuing Amezaga, Miles
Troy Renck of the Denver Post has confirmed that the Rockies are pursuing free agent utilitymen Alfredo Amezaga and Aaron Miles.
Renck writes that Amezaga "appears to be their first choice," as he probably should be. Even though the 33-year-old didn't play in the major leagues last season while rehabbing from microfracture surgery, he is capable of playing all over the diamond. Miles, meanwhile, is an extremely poor defender who hasn't hit a home run since 2008. He may be the least skilled player in MLB.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, The Rockies are considering Alfredo Amezaga, Cristian Guzman and Aaron Miles for a possible backup infielder role.
Get excited. None are difference-makers, but they can at least play multiple positions in the infield. Amezaga was the definition of a super-sub during his time with the Marlins, also playing all three outfield spots, but he hasn't appeared in a major league game since undergoing microfracture surgery on his left knee in July of 2009.
