Mon Mar 5 201219:23Orioles' Adair hit by ball during BP
Orioles' minor league infielder Travis Adair was hit in the side of the head by a batted ball during batting practice Monday.
Adair, son of Orioles' pitching coach Rick Adair, was behind a batting practice screen near second base when he was struck. He was taken to the hospital for a precautionary CT scan, but fortunately everything came back normal. The 24-year-old had a major concussion when he was 19, so the club will monitor him closely. Adair batted .284/.339/.388 with six homers, 46 RBI and a .726 OPS between High-A and Double-A in the Rangers' organization last season and is likely to serve as minor league depth in 2012.
