ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Victor Caratini is a no-no catcher. When hometown pitcher Joe Musgrove threw the first no-hitter for the San Diego Padres in their franchise history, Caratini became the first MLB catcher to be behind the plate for consecutive no-hitters in the league for different teams. “He was the first one to embrace me,” Musgrove said of Caratini. “And it just felt good. I know he wanted that as bad as I did.” While Musgrove had never thrown a no-hitter at any level, Caratini was on the receiving end last Sept. 13 when Alec Mills threw one for the Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee. C Ryan Hanigan was activated from the 10-day disabled list after recovering from a left groin strain. Hannigan has played in just 29 games for the Rockies this season, batting .250 with a pair of home runs. He played 17 games at Triple-Albuquerque, batting .264.

C Ryan Hanigan threw to the bases and ran them for the first time since he sustained a strained left groin and had to leave the game Aug. 20. Two days later, Hanigan was placed on the 10-day disabled list. "Felt pretty good, man, so it was a good day," Hanigan said. "Built some confidence, first time I really pushed it. Went well, strength was good, we'll see how it feels tomorrow. But I was real happy."

Hanigan stayed in the game but was lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of that inning. "It was a little grab there, but it's OK, I'm fine," Hanigan said. Manager Bud Black met the media in his postgame session after stopping in the training room to see Hanigan. "I just came out of the training room and talked to our medical people and they think he's going to be fine," Black said. "Little sore tomorrow but it doesn't seem as though he's going to miss any time. He should be available."

OF Mitch Haniger (strained right oblique) joined the team in Washington on Wednesday and he is working to come back from a stint on the disabled list. "He had a little soreness on the other side, compensating," manager Scott Servais said Wednesday. "So we'll work him out here with us the next three, four days and then see how that's progressing to get him out on a rehab. That's the plan right now." The Mariners hope he can make a minor league rehab appearance at some point. He has been on the DL since April 25.
