Mayberry was released by the White Sox organization on Wednesday.

Mayberry was released to clear a spot on Triple-A Charlotte's 25-man roster so that Micah Johnson could be activated from the disabled list. After joining the White Sox organization, Mayberry batted just .162/.225/.189 at Triple-A Charlotte over 40 plate appearances. Mayberry is now a free agent.

Mayberry was signed by the White Sox on Friday and assigned to Triple-A Charlotte.

Mayberry was DFA'd by the Mets after they acquired Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson shortly before the trade deadline and subsequently released after the team could not find a trade partner for the struggling outfielder. He batted just .164 with three home runs and nine RBI as a member of the Mets this season, striking out in 30 percent of his at-bats. Mayberry will replace the recently released Chris Marrero on Charlotte's roster.

Mayberry was released by the Mets on Thursday, MLB.com reports.

The Mets designated Mayberry for assignment last week following the additions of Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson to the active roster, and were unable to find a trading partner interested in the 31-year-old outfielder. Mayberry will likely have to settle for a minor-league deal with another team after slashing a pathetic .164/.227/.318 over 59 games with the Mets this season.

Mayberry was designated for assignment following Friday's game, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.

After acquiring Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson on Friday, the Mets continued their roster shakeup by designating the struggling Mayberry for assignment. This is a surprising move by the Mets ahead of the trade deadline, especially considering Michael Cuddyer's placement on the disabled list. Mayberry started the second half of the season 0-for-13 with five strikeouts and batted .188 in the first half.

Mayberry will play in left field and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Jared Diamond of The Wall Street Journal reports.

Mayberry takes over for the injured Michael Cuddyer (knee) who is currently awaiting the results of an MRI. If Cuddyer is subjected to a stint on the disabled list then Mayberry seems to be the likely candidate for unexpected time on the field.

Mayberry will start in left field and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Reds.

Mayberry is taking the place of Michael Cuddyer, who is out to rest after finishing Saturday's game that was suspended to Sunday. This is just Mayberry's eighth start of the year in left field and things should return, for the most part, back to normal in the New York's next outing.

Mayberry (heel) will return to the lineup for Friday's game against the Braves.

Mayberry doesn't see starts on a consistent basis, but his return to the lineup indicates the heel is no longer bothering him. He will bat fifth for the Mets on Friday against the Braves and Alex Wood.

Mayberry is currently dealing with a heel issue, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.

Mayberry already provides limited fantasy utility, and although he should be available to pinch hit, he'll likely need a pinch runner if he gets on base. The inability to collect runs further diminishes the little value that was there in the first place.

Mayberry, who entered the game with seven hits on the season, went 4-for-5 with his second home run of the season Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

With Curtis Granderson struggling at the plate, it's possible that Mayberry's big game affords him some additional playing time in the short term, especially against lefties. Mayberry's home run came in the ninth against righty Daniel Hudson, which could prompt manager Terry Collins to roll the dice and go with him Friday.

Mayberry started Monday's game against the Cubs but didn't reach base once in his four at-bats, striking out once.

This was Mayberry's first appearance in a game since May 8, and only his fourth of the month. He's hitting just .188 on the season and hasn't driven in a run since April 10.

Mayberry is not in the lineup Saturday against Philadelphia.

Mayberry will be replaced in left field by Michael Cuddyer on Saturday. He went 0-for-3 on Friday to lower his average to .120 on the season.

Mayberry is starting in right field and leading off Wednesday against the Braves.

Mayberry replaces Curtis Granderson, who gets the night off with lefty Eric Stults on the bump. This will be the first time in Mayberry's career that he leads off.

Mayberry will get the start in left field and hit third in the Mets' lineup Friday.

Lucas Duda is out of the lineup because of his career struggles against lefties, and Mayberry is a natural option to take his place as he has a .269/.324/.533 career slash line against southpaws.

Mayberry will start at first base Friday or Sunday, ESPN New York reports.

The Mets face lefties in each game, so Mayberry will start one of them in the outfield with Michael Cuddyer moving to first and Lucas Duda getting a day off.

Mayberry is 21-for-49 with four home runs and 10 runs batted in this spring.

Mayberry gives New York power off the bench, which has been lacking the past few seasons. In addition, he will see some starts against lefties, either at first base or in the outfield,

Mayberry hit his second home run of the sporing Saturday.

Mayberry will be used as spot-starter against lefties and right-handed bat off the bench. His ability to hit for power is something the Mets have lacked coming off the bench for a while. Mayberry could see additional starts if he gets hot and/or Lucas Duda or Michael Cuddyer misses time.

Mayberry signed a one-year deal with the Mets on Thursday, ESPN New York reports.

The soon-to-be-31-year-old brings a right-handed bat the bench, though he'll likely start in the outfield against lefties. That should allow manager Terry Collins to have some flexibility at first base, with Michael Cuddyer being an option over Lucas Duda. Mayberry, who was non-tendered by Toronto earlier this month, hit a combined .212 with 23 RBI last season for the Blue Jays and Phillies. Mayberry hit .243 in 70 at-bats against left-handed pitching.

The Blue Jays declined to tender Mayberry a contract, the New York Post's Joel Sherman reports.

Mayberry played just 15 games for Toronto after coming over from Philadelphia midway through the season. He has not hit better than .245 since 2011, and cannot hit righties, so he has very little value on most big league teams.

Mayberry (wrist) was traded to the Blue Jays on Sunday in exchange for minor league outfielder Gustavo Pierre, John Lott of the National Post reports.

Mayberry, who is expected to return from the DL on Monday, is struggling at the plate this season, hitting just .213 with 21 RBI and six home runs in 63 games. He likely would have become a part-time player for Philadelphia over the final month of the season with rosters expanding, but he'll instead join a Blue Jays team still hoping to make a late charge at an AL Wild Card spot. He'll likely compete with Colby Rasmus and Kevin Pillar for starts in the Toronto outfield.

Mayberry (wrist) will likely be activated from the disabled list when rosters expand Monday, the Associated Press reports.

Even with the Phillies looking ahead to 2015, they should have a pretty good idea as to what Mayberry can offer in the long run. As a result, he'll likely be a part-time player during the final four weeks of the season.
