The Twins will attempt to rest Fien over the final week and a half of the season, LaVelle Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
After Fien was pelted for two homers in his latest appearance against the Tigers on Monday, the Twins are concerned his massive workload in middle relief has finally caught up to him. He's tossed a total of 144 games and 123.2 innings over the last two seasons, and seems to be showing some fatigue in the second half. Fien would have been a top candidate to fill in for Glen Perkins (neck/shoulder) as closer while he remains out for the next couple of days, but it looks like Jared Burton, Michael Tonkin or Lester Oliveros will be next in line to receive any save opportunities that come about.
