Morin (oblique) is expected to begin playing catch by the end of the week, MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez reports.

The 24-year-old has been out with the oblique strain for a little over a week, but doesn't figure to stick on the DL much further beyond the 15-day minimum. A session of catch would only represent the initial step in his throwing process, which would also include mound work, facing hitters, and ultimately, heading out on a rehab assignment.

Morin (strained left oblique) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.

Morin departed from Saturday's game with the injury, and the Angels made the quick determination that his condition wasn't likely to improve dramatically enough in the coming days to avoid the DL. The team called up Cam Bedrosian from Triple-A Salt Lake to assume Morin's spot in the bullpen.

Morin will go to the 15-day disabled list, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.

The corresponding roster move will be announced Sunday, but Morin was diagnosed with a strained oblique after facing just one batter in Saturday's game. Cam Bedrosian seems to be the likely option to be called up in his place.

Morin walked the only batter he faced before getting taken out from the game. If he is placed on the disabled list, Cam Bedrosian may get the call up for the Angels. More information should be released late Saturday night or sometime on Sunday.

Morin allowed a three-run home run to Robbie Grossman in a loss to the Astros on Saturday.

Morin entered the contest looking to hold the 1-0 deficit after C.J. Wilson departed with two out in the seventh, but Grossman was able to get one in the air to clear the Crawford boxes in left field. Morin had performed well this season prior to the homer, making four appearances without allowing a baserunner.

Morin picked up the win against the Rangers on Thursday, allowing a walk over 1.1 innings of work.

It seems that Cory Rasmus will continue to start games for the Angels in place of Garrett Richards (knee) for the foreseeable future, meaning that an Angels' reliever will be eligible to pick up a win every fifth day. The wheel stopped on Morin Thursday, who came on to record the last out of the fifth inning before holding the Rangers scoreless in the sixth. Morin has pitched well for the Halos this season, notching a 2.39 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 52.2 innings.

After cutting his foot during a walk on the beach, Morin is returning to the Angels when first eligible. In his sole rehab outing Thursday at High-A Inland Empire, he tossed a scoreless frame with two strikeouts.

There was no indication that the reliever was dealing with an injury, but Morin's placement on the DL is retroactive to Aug. 1. Since the All-Star break, he's held the opposition to three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out 10 in 7.1 innings.
