Pinto (concussion) is feeling better than the team had hoped Monday, but is still being held out of activities, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.
While his symptoms are being called "minor" by the team, this is still something that his prospective owners will need to follow. General manager Terry Ryan said he is hopeful that Pinto will be able to play in games later this week, and he still has a shot to make the team out of camp, which is good news. Pinto has a ton of offensive upside given his plus power and his eligibility at catcher, but it remains to be seen if he will be given semi-regular at-bats anytime soon.
Sun Mar 22 201511:26Josmil Pinto: Diagnosed With Concussion
Pinto has been diagnosed with a concussion, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports.
It's hard to say if this puts Pinto's Opening Day readiness into question, as when he is cleared to return to the field will be the clear indicator. If Pinto is indeed out, Chris Herrmann will take the backup role behind Kurt Suzuki.

Pinto is being evaluated for a concussion, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
The Orioles' Adam Jones hit Pinto in the head with his follow through twice in one at-bat, resulting in Pinto's early removal from Saturday's game. Pinto remains the favorite to be the Twins backup catcher in 2015, and with just Kurt Suzuki in front of him, an strong performance in spring training could propel him to extra playing time throughout the season. At this point, it appears he should be good to go in the next few days defensively, while he's already feeling good enough to hit.

Pinto right quad) took some swings in the batting cage for the second straight day Sunday, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "I don't think this is going to affect him at all with his ability to make this club," GM Terry Ryan said.
Pinto has had a sore quad the past few days and may be eased back into action. He's competing with Chris Herrmann and Eric Fryer for the backup catcher role. As long as this injury doesn't become a major problem, he's the favorite to win the job.

Pinto will compete with Chris Herrmann and Eric Fryer for the backup catcher role this spring, manager Paul Molitor told MLB.com.
Pinto would appear to be the favorite as by far the best hitter of the three, but he's seen as a poor defender. The Twins could stick with Fryer as the backup or choose Herrmann for his versatility, but Pinto doesn't need any more time in the minors to show he can hit (.828 OPS at Triple-A last year).

Pinto will be recalled from Triple-A Rochester prior to the Twins' game Tuesday against the White Sox, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.
Pinto entered this season as an intriguing sleeper option at the catcher spot, but his offensive struggles in the early going in the face of the Kurt Suzuki's emergence ultimately led to an assignment at Rochester. Pinto's predictably picked up his production in the minors while continuing to showcase his usual excellent plate discipline, giving him a chance at getting another long look in September. Suzuki was given a contract extension earlier in the summer that should lock him in as the Opening Day catcher next season, but with a strong final month, Pinto could become a regular DH option for the Twins in 2015.

Wed Jun 11 201416:02Twins option Josmil Pinto to AAA Rochester
Twins optioned C Josmil Pinto to Triple-A Rochester.
Pinto showed real promise at the plate over the first month of the season, but his defense is still a major issue and he had been receiving highly-inconsistent playing time over the past several weeks. He'll try to improve in a more regular role on the farm.

Wed Jun 11 201411:33Twins to send Josmil Pinto to Triple-A?
LaVelle E. Neal of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune thinks the Twins are considering optioning Josmil Pinto to Triple-A Rochester.
Neal is reading the tea leaves after a pre-game conversation with manager Ron Gardenhire Tuesday. Pinto hit five homers in the first month of the season but is batting just .200/.227/.329 with two dingers since and has allowed opposing baserunners to go a perfect 16-for-16 in steal attempts. His struggles can likely at least partly be blamed on inconsistent playing time, but he's probably best off honing his craft in the minors for a while.

Thu Jun 5 201400:17Josmil Pinto goes 0-for-4 as DH
Josmil Pinto went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts as the Twins' designated hitter on Wednesday.
Well, that's obviously never happening again. It makes plenty of sense for the Twins to use both of their catchers at once on occasion, but manager Ron Gardenhire isn't overly fond of the idea, especially now that third catcher Chris Herrmann is back in Triple-A.
