Sun May 25 201419:04Astros option outfielder Hoes to Triple-A
Astros optioned OF L.J. Hoes to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The 24-year-old outfielder had been struggling mightily at the plate, slashing just .209/.289/.343 with two homers, six RBI and an 18/8 K/BB ratio in 67 at-bats. He'll function as organizational depth in the minors.

L.J. Hoes was not in Tuesday's lineup due to a stomach bug.

Tue May 13 201423:09Hoes homers, drives in three in win over TEX
L.J. Hoes went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Rangers.
Hoes hit a two-run home run off Rangers starter Matt Harrison to start the scoring, and he added an eighth inning RBI single for good measure. The left fielder also scored twice in the game. It was his second home run of the season, and Hoes is batting .214 on the year.

Thu May 8 201415:56L.J. Hoes goes 3-for-3 against Tigers
L.J. Hoes had a 3-for-3 day before being removed for a pinch-hitter Thursday against the Tigers.
Hoes' hits were his first since April 19. He entered the day with a .128 average, and he had made just one start this month as a result. His roster spot come into jeopardy if the Astros happen to find any outfielders they like on waivers.

Thu Apr 17 201400:58L.J. Hoes goes 0-for-5
L.J. Hoes went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in the loss to the Royals on Wednesday.
Hoes is fortunate Robbie Grossman got off to a poor start or he'd have been the one sent to the minors or at least given a reduced role to make room for George Springer. As is, he's still battling Alex Presley for starts and he's only guaranteed to be in there against lefties.

Sun Mar 23 201416:09L.J. Hoes goes hitless for Astros
L.J. Hoes went 0-for-3 as the Astros' leadoff man Sunday, dropping his average to .188.
Hoes might be the Astros' starting right fielder anyway, but he certainly isn't winning the job. He's without an extra-base hit, and he's walked just twice in 32 at-bats this spring. He'll probably be one of the AL's worst regulars for fantasy purposes until he's eventually replaced, possibly by George Springer.

Fri Feb 28 201409:25Hoes 'probably a favorite' to start in RF
Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle writes that L.J. Hoes is "probably a favorite" to start in right field.
He'll have to hold off numerous competitors, including top prospect George Springer, as well as J.D. Martinez, Marc Krauss, Jesus Guzman and Adron Chambers. Krauss and Guzman are also in the mix to start at first base. Hoes hit a decent .287/.337/.371 last year in 46 games for the Astros and offers some speed, but he really should be more of a fourth outfielder.

Fri Aug 30 201323:48Hoes has two hits in loss to Mariners
L.J. Hoes finished 2-for-4 in Friday's loss to the Mariners.
Hoes, who was acquired from the Orioles last month in the Bud Norris trade, is batting .283/.327/.387 with seven extra-base hits (one home run), five RBI, seven stolen bases and 18 runs scored through his first 113 plate appearances in the majors. Astros manager Bo Porter appears content to use the 23-year-old as his primary No. 2 hitter and right fielder, so while he doesn't offer much in the way of power, he should be a useful option in AL-only leagues the rest of the way.

Mon Aug 5 201323:29L.J. Hoes goes 2-for-3 for Astros
L.J. Hoes went 2-for-3 with a double, a steal and two runs scored against the Red Sox on Monday.
The Astros have started Hoes in four of six games since acquiring him in the Bud Norris deal, and they brought him off the bench in the other two. There's little fantasy upside here -- he has very little power and he's not all that good of a basestealer -- but he has a little value in AL-only leagues at the moment.

Wed Jul 31 201316:42Astros acquire OF Hoes in deal for Norris
Astros acquired OF L.J. Hoes, LHP Josh Hader and a competitive balance pick from the Orioles for RHP Bud Norris.
Hoes is starting in right field and batting second for the Astros on Wednesday. A former third-round pick, Hoes hit .304/.406/.403 with three homers, seven steals and 40 RBI in 99 games this season at Triple-A Norfolk this season. He can play all three outfield spots. There should be ample playing time available in Houston to make Hoes worth picking up in AL-formats.

Sat Jul 27 201316:39O's Hoes being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk
L.J. Hoes is being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk.
The move will either be made official on Saturday night or Sunday morning. Hoes, a third-round draft pick of the O's in 2008, has batted .304/.406/.403 with three homers, seven steals and 40 RBI in 99 games this season at the Triple-A level. The 23-year-old probably won't play enough this time around to take on significant fantasy value.
