Tony Abreu smacked a game-winning RBI single in the 14th inning on Saturday night, propelling the Royals to a dramatic 7-6 victory over the Indians.
Abreu went just 1-for-6, but that one hit was the critical blow in the game. The 27-year-old middle infielder is hitting .266/.273/.375 with a homer and 14 RBI in 64 at-bats. He's unlikely to make a fantasy impact in 2013.

He then broke a 4-4 tie with an RBI single to center in the sixth that stood as the decisive run in the game. According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Diamondbacks have placed infielder Tony Abreu on waivers.
The Diamondbacks have a number of options for their utility infield job, so Abreu looks like the odd-man out here. With Geoff Blum expected to go on the disabled list, Ryan Roberts will likely make the Opening Day roster.

Abreu had a streak of pretty consistent playing time earlier this season but didn't fare well. He's hitting only .239/.255/.314 this season and profiles as nothing more than a utility player.

Fri May 7 201000:15D'Backs' Abreu goes 4-for-5
Tony Abreu went 4-for-5 with an RBI double in the victory over the Astros on Thursday.
If Kelly Johnson had a typical April instead of doing his Albert Pujols impersonation, then Abreu would be knocking on the door at second base. He's hitting .372 in 43 at-bats, though that is without a homer and with just one walk. Abreu, though, is a very legitimate hitter for average. He should have considerable fantasy value in NL-only leagues if the Diamondbacks lose Johnson, Stephen Drew or Mark Reynolds to the DL for a spell.
