BALTIMORE (AP) — The Orioles have placed designated hitter Mark Trumbo and pitcher Gabriel Ynoa on the 10-day disabled list.Both moves were made Thursday and are retroactive to March 26. DH Pedro Alvarez drove in two runs with a single in the eighth inning, ending a 23-inning scoreless streak for the Orioles. Alvarez is batting .313 and had two hits on a night where the Orioles did very little offensively.

1B Pedro Alvarez started Wednesday in his first appearance in Pittsburgh -- where he spent six seasons-- since 2015. He was 2-for-4 with a run. In the first, he started an inning-ending 3-6-1 double play. "He's one of the few guys with that type of arm strength," manager Buck Showalter said. When he came to the plate to start the bottom of the second, Alvarez got nice applause, and there was a small tribute on the video screen. "That was pretty cool," he said. "I didn't know what to expect. I thought it was very classy on the Pirates' part. I'm not too much of an emotional guy, but that was pretty cool to get that kind of reception from the organization and the fans." He singled to right that at-bat and later scored.

INF Pedro Alvarez made his first trip back to Pittsburgh since 2015 on Tuesday. Alvarez hit .236 with 131 home runs and 401 RBIs in six seasons with the Pirates from 2010-15. He did not appear in the game.

Alvarez is currently playing for Triple-A Norfolk. Entering Thursday, he was batting .223 with 12 doubles, 12 home runs and 39 RBIs in 52 games. It will still be a challenge to find a spot for Alvarez on the Orioles' current roster.

INF Pedro Alvarez hit a pinch-hit double in the eighth inning of the 3-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday. He is batting .333 (8-for-24) at Toronto this season, with five of the hits going for extra bases. It was his first pinch hit in 10 chances this season.

The Orioles will face RHPs quite a bit in the their next handful of games, so expect Alvarez to return to the lineup soon.

DH Pedro Alvarez continued his stretch of torrid hitting in the Orioles' 7-5 win Friday night at the Chicago White Sox, clubbing two more home runs and going 2-for-5. Alvarez has a pair of two-homer games in the past three he's played, has hit five total in those games, including homers in all three, and has sent the ball over the fence six times in the Orioles' past seven games. He's hitting .464 during that span and has increased his homer total to 18 this season.
