Tue Mar 26 201316:09Roger Bernadina homers off bench
Roger Bernadina homered and singled off the bench Tuesday against the Marlins.
Officially, they were the first two hits of the spring for Bernadina, who played for The Netherlands in the WBC. He had been 0-for-7 in Nationals camp. Bernadina had a great year as a part-timer in 2012, hitting .291/.372/.405 in 227 at-bats. Still, the Nationals didn't consider him for a full-time role this year. He'll struggle to match last year's at-bats total if Bryce Harper, Denard Span and Jayson Werth stay relatively healthy.

Sun May 13 201220:53Roger Bernadina continues to sizzle
Roger Bernadina stayed hot by going 2-for-4 with a steal and an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Reds.
Bernadina is running away with the open outfield job as the Nats adjust to life without Jayson Werth (wrist). He's started four straight games, going 6-for-17 with two homers, five RBI and two steals during that span. There's some power/speed upside here.

Fri May 11 201223:39Bernadina homers, drives home 3 in win
Roger Bernadina had a strong night against the Reds on Friday, going 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in a 7-3 victory over the Reds.
Bernadina is being given the chance to claim the starting job in left field, and hasn't disappointed thus far. His first inning homer off of Mike Leake was his second on the season, and he also picked up his third stolen base of the year later in the game. As long as he's going to be receiving regular playing time, he's well worth a look in most leagues.

Fri Apr 20 201219:16Bernadina and Nady to share left field
Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Friday that he wants Roger Bernadina and Xavier Nady to "get the lion's share of time" in left field.
Bernadina and Nady had been splitting time in left with Mark DeRosa as well, but Johnson wants to simplify things and define each player's role. Bernadina stands to benefit the most from this new alignment, as he'll likely play everyday against right handed pitching.

Wed Apr 18 201221:58Roger Bernadina drives one in, steals base
Roger Bernadina had an RBI double and stole a base in Wednesday's win over the Astros.
He also drew a walk. Bernadina has really struggled in the early going, batting just .161, but he'll still receive a good number of at-bats with Mike Morse on the shelf. He remains a fantasy option only in deeper NL-only leagues.

Sat Apr 7 201214:46Bernadina, Lombardozzi at risk of demotion
Roger Bernadina and Steve Lombardozzi could have their roster spots in jeopardy when Michael Morse (lat) and Rick Ankiel (quad) come off the disabled list.
Lombardozzi would be the easiest player to send down given he's the Nationals' only bench player with an option remaining. Bernadina started in center field for the first two games, but isn't a lock to remain with the club.
