Peralta (arm) had a rough first rehab outing for High-A Rancho Cucamonga Thursday, allowing a pair of runs in an inning of work.
The sequence went: triple, single, walk, flyout, flyout, flyout. He may need a bit longer than expected, but Peralta could be ready sometime next week.

Peralta (arm) will begin a rehab assignment Thursday with High-A Rancho Cucamonga, the Los Angeles Times' Dylan Hernandez reports.
It has been a slow road to recovery for Peralta, but the rehab assignment commencing this week points to him possibly returning to the Dodgers' bullpen sometime later this month. With Kenley Jansen holding down the closer role for the Dodgers, Peralta's value will be limited to ratios and strikeouts in leagues that don't reward holds.
Fri May 29 201521:27Peralta (arm) expects to throw off mound this week
Peralta (arm) expects to throw off a mound this week, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports.
A dead arm forced Peralta onto the DL in late April and a pinched nerve in his neck was discovered shortly thereafter. Although the right-hander has been slow in moving through his rehab program, it sounds like he will clear a major hurdle in the coming days by returning to mound work and assuming all goes well, live batting practice won't be too far off.

Manager Don Mattingly said Peralta's (arm) recovery has been put "on hold" due to a pinched nerve in his neck, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Peralta initially hit the disabled list in April due to a dead arm issue, but it appears that's not the only thing ailing the right-hander. He'll stick around with the team in Los Angeles to continue the rehab process, though it appears safe to conclude that he won't be activated from the disabled list when eligible later in the week.
Sun Apr 26 201514:37Joel Peralta: (Arm) Placed On 15-Day DL
Peralta (arm) was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday.
Peralta had been suffering from a bout with dead arm, and it appears he will require a stint on the disabled list to work out the issues. The Dodgers recalled Carlos Frias to add another arm in the bullpen and Scott Baker, who will make a spot start for the Dodgers on Sunday.
Sat Apr 25 201518:10Joel Peralta: Has Dead Arm, DL Likely
Peralta said he has dead arm and it seems likely that he is headed for the DL, ESPN Los Angeles' Mark Saxon reports.
He said he does not have shoulder pain, but he did not top 84 mph on any of his pitches Thursday, so something is clearly amiss. The Dodgers will need to activate a pitcher for Sunday's game, and placing Peralta on the DL would be a logical corresponding move. Yimi Garcia got the save in Friday's game and has been dominant so far this season, making him the ideal pitcher to own in that bullpen other than Kenley Jansen.
Sat Apr 25 201503:21Yimi Garcia and not Peralta got save Friday night against Padres
Yimi Garcia and not Peralta got the save Friday night against the Padres. Peralta didn't see any action in the game.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly didn't say anything about Peralta's availability, but Peralta has pitched just twice in the last 10 days, though one of those outings was Thursday. He has been dealing with a stiff neck and also had a sore shoulder in spring training, so it's possible that Mattingly is just nursing Peralta along. Peralta has been good this season, but Garcia has been phenomenal. It's not too difficult Garcia getting more save chances in the future.

Peralta (neck) picked up the save Saturday against the Rockies, allowing one walk and no hits in a scoreless ninth inning.
Peralta had been treated for a stiff neck earlier in the week, but was able to make his first appearance in a five-day span. He only needed 11 pitches to induce three fly-ball outs, so he should be available again Sunday if need be. The 39-year-old reliever is a perfect 3-for-3 in save opportunities this year, and has yet to surrender an earned run on the season.
Sat Apr 18 201520:36Peralta (neck) seen warming up in bullpen late in Friday's game
Peralta (neck) was seen warming up in the bullpen late in Friday's game, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
The Dodgers had a four-run lead in the ninth, so Peralta wasn't needed, but he warmed up just in case Colorado made it any closer. Peralta received treatment for a stiff neck earlier in the week, and while he appears good to go moving forward, consider him day-to-day until he actually pitches in a game. He's allowed just two hits in 4.1 scoreless innings so far this season, racking up two saves and a win in the process.
Wed Apr 15 201519:01Joel Peralta: Has A Stiff Neck
Peralta was being treated for a stiff neck prior to Wednesday's game, and his availability is unclear, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
He has been a strong fantasy asset so far this season with Kenley Jansen out, so hopefully Peralta does not miss time with this ailment. Fortunately it seems fairly minor. He has two saves, a win and has not allowed a run in five appearances this season.

Peralta retired the only batter he faced in picking up his second save in Sunday's 7-4 win over Arizona.
A 7-0 Dodgers lead in the bottom of ninth quickly got ugly before Peralta came in and closed the door. He's likely now locked in as the team's primary closer until Kenley Jansen (foot) returns next month.

Peralta struck out one in a perfect ninth inning to pick up the save Wednesday against the Padres.
Chris Hatcher picked up the save Monday, but Wednesday was Peralta's turn. The Dodgers will continue to use a committee until closer Kanley Jansen (foot) returns.

Peralta earned the win in relief Monday while tossing a scoreless eighth inning against the Padres, while Chris Hatcher picked up the save with a scoreless ninth.
The Dodgers have suggested that a committee is in order to fill in for closer Kenley Jansen, but the usage Monday is an indication that Hatcher has the upper hand for save opportunities at the present time.

Peralta tossed a scoreless inning Thursday against the Angels, walking one and striking out none.
That's one run in three innings for Peralta so far this spring. His shoulder woes appear to be behind him, so he's got a good shot at subbing for Kenley Jansen (foot) at the closer position next month.

Peralta appears to be on target for Opening Day after tossing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts on Monday against the A's.
He's probably also the favorite to be the primary closer while Kenley Jansen (foot) is sidelined. Still, we would expect manager Don Mattingly to provide further clarity within the next week or two.

Peralta (shoulder) completed a 23-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and expects to make his Cactus League debut Friday, MLB.com reports.
A bout of shoulder soreness has put Peralta behind schedule, but he said Tuesday that he's almost where he would be normally at the start of spring training, thanks to the rehab regimen established by the team trainers. While Peralta admitted that his strength is "not all there yet," he believes it will return with pitching in games. He will need to make up ground in a hurry to have a chance to fill in for Kenley Jansen (foot) at the start of the season.
Sat Mar 7 201513:20Peralta (shoulder) plans to throw live batting practice Tuesday
Peralta (shoulder) plans to throw live batting practice Tuesday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander completed another bullpen session Saturday and will look ahead to his first live session of the spring early next week. Peralta posted a 4.41 ERA in 69 appearances last season, but his FIP was more than a run lower at 3.40, and he struck out nearly five batters for every one he walked (4.93 K/BB). He is among the top candidates to fill in for Kenley Jansen (foot) in the closer role to begin the year.

Peralta (shoulder) threw his first bullpen session this spring on Monday and will throw at least one more before he's cleared to appear in a game, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.
It's sounding like Peralta's shoulder soreness won't impact his Opening Day availability unless there is some sort of setback. He could be the favorite for saves next month while Kenley Jansen (foot) is sidelined.
Sat Feb 28 201514:26Peralta (shoulder) could throw off mound as soon as Monday
Peralta (shoulder) could throw off a mound as soon as Monday, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Peralta has yet to throw from elevated ground in camp due to shoulder soreness, which first crept up shortly before he reported. However, it appears his return to a mound could be imminent, as the right-hander has been throwing on flat ground for close to a week with no major issues. Manager Don Mattingly said Friday that he expects Peralta to be ready to go for the start of the season.
Fri Feb 27 201513:28Peralta (shoulder) may be ready for Opening Day after all
Peralta (shoulder) may be ready for Opening Day after all, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
This contradicts a recent report by MLB.com's Ken Gurnick. "Peralta is fine. He's still on the program. I was a little surprised yesterday when I saw he wasn't going to be ready for the season," manager Don Mattingly said. "I think we all expect him to be ready for he season. His program continues."
