Mayberry (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh on Tuesday, The Morning Call's Stephen Gross reports.
He may not make it back to the Phillies until late-August at the earliest, and considering they basically know what they have in Mayberry, he will likely only see part-time duty, as it's a team in transition and other players need to be evaluated.
Sat Aug 16 201405:11Mayberry swinging bat
Mayberry has been swinging a bat, but is still feeling some pain in his wrist, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Mayberry has been on the disabled list since July 21 with left wrist inflammation. He may not make it back to the Phillies until rosters expand in September.

Manager Ryne Sandberg said he was unsure if Mayberry (wrist) will need to go on a rehab assignment, the Phillies' official site reports.
Mayberry will hit in the batting cage this week. If his timing is off, he will likely be sent out for a short rehab assignment before returning to the active roster. He has been on the disabled list since July 22 with left wrist inflammation.
Tue Jul 22 201416:47Phillies place John Mayberry on 15-day DL
Phillies placed OF John Mayberry Jr. on the 15-day disabled list with left wrist inflammation.
Darin Ruf has been called up in a corresponding 25-man roster move. There's no timetable for Mayberry's return, though it doesn't sound like an overly serious injury.

Thu Jun 12 201416:38John Mayberry Jr. homers in victory
John Mayberry Jr. had a three-run homer and a pair of doubles against the Phillies on Thursday.
Mayberry ended up being thrown out at home on each of his first two times on base, the second time because his foot got stuck in the muddy ground in front of the plate. There were no worries about him being thrown out on the homer that put the game away in the seventh. It was his third homer in June and fifth of the year. As well as he's playing of late, perhaps the Phillies will start giving him some of Domonic Brown's at-bats against righties.

Thu Jun 5 201418:50John Mayberry homers in losing effort
John Mayberry smacked a solo homer in Thursday's loss to the Nationals.
Mayberry put one into the bullpen over the left field fence in the seventh inning to cut the Nats' lead to 4-2, but the Phillies wouldn't get any closer. The 30-year-old is sporting a .255/.359/.545 batting line with four homers this season. He's been mentioned as a possible trade option for teams in need of some sock off the bench.

Sun Jun 1 201409:54Red Sox could have interest in John Mayberry
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox could be interested in John Mayberry.
It was reported late in spring training that the Phillies were making Mayberry available, and they're still willing to move him. Cafardo notes that the Phillies have been scouting the Sox during their last three series. Mayberry is hitting .244/.370/.467 with a couple homers this season and boasts a career .533 slugging percentage against lefties.

Mon Mar 24 201416:16John Mayberry Jr. reaches three times in win
John Mayberry Jr. went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored as the Phillies beat the Blue Jays 6-3 on Monday.
The game was called in the eighth due to rain. Mayberry has hit .293/.356/.512 with two homers in 41 at-bats this spring. The Phillies are very open to trading him, but they do figure to keep him as a reserve if nothing can be worked out.

Fri Mar 21 201413:31Phillies place Mayberry place on trade block
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Phillies have made John Mayberry available via trade.
Many thought they would non-tender him over the winter, but they wound up bringing him back for $1.5875 million. Even with Darin Ruf (oblique) likely to begin the season on the disabled list, it appears there might not be room on the Phillies' roster for the out-of-options Mayberry. The 30-year-old has batted .246/.306/.423 with 40 homers over the last three seasons for Philly.

Thu Feb 27 201416:37John Mayberry Jr. homers against Jays
Darin Ruf and John Mayberry Jr. each homered Thursday against the Blue Jays.
Mayberry also singled and stole a base. There is room for both Ruf and Mayberry on the Phillies' bench, but ideally, one of the spots would go to a superior defensive outfielder. Ruf makes more sense for the club if the Phillies are willing to sit Ryan Howard against lefties at least semi-frequently. That probably won't be the case in April, though, which may give Mayberry a leg up.

Fri Jan 17 201408:34John Mayberry, Phillies avoid arbitration
Phillies avoided arbitration with OF John Mayberry by agreeing to a one-year, $1.5875 million contract.
Mayberry had been eligible for arbitration for the first time this offseason. He's coming off a disappointing .227/.286/.391 season and will open 2014 as a backup, but the Phillies gave no thought to non-tendering him.

Wed Dec 11 201312:52Phillies seeking upgrade over John Mayberry
Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Phillies are seeking an upgrade over outfielder John Mayberry, Jr.
Despite tendering Mayberry a contract, the Phillies are still searching for a fourth outfielder to usurp the role currently held by Mayberry. Specifically, manager Ryne Sandberg wants "a right-handed bat" and "defense with depth at center field". While Mayberry technically qualifies under both criteria, his OPS has declined in two straight seasons and his defense is subpar, particularly in center.

Mon Dec 2 201318:36Phillies tender contract to John Mayberry
The Phillies have tendered a contract to outfielder John Mayberry.
Some speculated that Mayberry could be non-tendered following the signing of Marlon Byrd, but GM Ruben Amaro kept his word and will retain the outfielder. Mayberry is coming off a disappointing .227/.286/.391 batting line in 134 games this past season, but he's proved useful in the past, particularly against left-handed pitching. The Phillies will also tender contracts to Kyle Kendrick, Ben Revere and Antonio Bastardo.

Tue Nov 12 201317:05Phillies planning to offer arb. to Mayberry
Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said Tuesday that he plans to tender a contract to John Mayberry.
Mayberry posted a disappointing .227/.286/.391 batting line in 134 games this past season, but the Phillies still like his power potential and he shouldn't be that expensive. The 29-year-old outfielder is arbitration-eligible for the first time in his career.

Sat Sep 14 201322:47John Mayberry swats 11th homer in victory
John Mayberry swatted his 11th homer of the season on Saturday, helping to propel the Phillies to a 5-4 victory over the Nationals.
Mayberry finished the night 2-for-4. He got the Phillies on the board with a no-doubter to left-center off Gio Gonzalez in the fifth inning, evening the score at 1-1. He's failed to live up to expectations for the most part this season, slashing just .230/.292/.401 with 11 homers and 39 RBI in 339 at-bats.

Mon Aug 19 201322:25John Mayberry Jr. hits ninth homer for Phils
John Mayberry Jr. hit a three-run homer Monday in the Phillies' 5-4 victory over the Rockies.
Mayberry was just 6-for-40 this month before taking Jeff Manship deep tonight. He's gotten more playing time that he's deserved as a result of Delmon Young's struggles and Ben Revere's injury this year, but he hasn't done a whole lot with it; he's batting .242 with nine homers in 274 at-bats. Barring a big finish, he could be non-tendered this winter.

Tue Jun 25 201302:05Mayberry collects 3 hits, 2 steals, in defeat
John Mayberry went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a pair of steals in Monday's loss to the Padres.
Mayberry, who has been getting more time off recently, hadn't registered a hit in more than a week prior to the game. The steals are obviously an outlier, as Mayberry entered the game with three on the season and 10 for his career. The 29-year-old is now batting .262/.316/.445 with five homers through 164 at-bats.

Tue Jun 4 201323:22Mayberry hits walk-off grand slam to top Fish
John Mayberry hit a walk-off grand slam -- his second homer of the night -- as the Phillies beat the Marlins 7-3 on Tuesday.
Mayberry didn't even start the game, entering as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning. But trailing by a run in the bottom of the 10th, Mayberry took Steve Cishek deep to prolong the game and ended it with the two-out blast in the 11th. The home runs gave the reserve outfielder four on the year to go with 14 RBI.

Fri May 3 201312:56John Mayberry getting more playing time
John Mayberry has started 13 of the last 14 games.
Even more notable is that he's started four of the last five games in center field. Part of that is because Ben Revere has been a little banged up, but the Phillies are also looking to get Mayberry more starts in center with Revere struggling at the plate. Mayberry is hitting only .232/.321/.449 with a pair of homers himself, but he should continue to see plenty of playing time, especially against lefties, even with Delmon Young back.

Mon Apr 1 201318:54John Mayberry starts over Nix
John Mayberry is starting in right field Monday against Braves' right-hander Tim Hudson.
Laynce Nix would have been the choice if Phillies manager Charlie Manuel were going with a straight platoon, but obviously that's not the plan. The skipper will rotate the players in and out of the lineup based on matchups, the type of opposing pitcher and recent performances. For what it's worth, Mayberry has hit .308 in 17 plate appearances against Hudson.
