John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Jason Pridie has been suspended 50 games for violating Minor League Baseball's drug program.
Well, that will effectively end his chances at earning an Opening Day bench spot. It's not clear at this point what Pridie tested positive for. The 28-year-old batted .231/.309/.370 with four homers and 20 RBI over 236 plate appearances with the Mets last season.

Thu Jun 30 201116:41Jason Pridie goes hitless in loss
Jason Pridie went 0-for-4 and struck out three times as the Mets' No. 2 hitter on Thursday.
Pridie had a nice little run while Angel Pagan was sidelined last month, but he's returned to his usual form now and what at-bats he's getting really should go to Scott Hairston.

Mets purchased the contract of OF Jason Pridie from Triple-A Buffalo.
He is in the Mets' Friday evening lineup, starting in center field and batting eighth. The corresponding roster move is expected to be the placement of Angel Pagan (side) on the 15-day disabled list. 27 years old, Pridie has just four major-league at-bats under his belt, all of which came in 2008 as a member of the Twins.

Jason Pridie has been sidelined since Wednesday due to a right hamstring injury.
The outfielder said they're "just being cautious," but it's definitely a concern since he had nagging issues with the same hamstring last season. Pridie is unlikely to be a member of the Opening Day roster.

Jason Pridie left Tuesday's game with Triple-A Buffalo with a hamstring injury.
He could join Fernando Martinez on the club's minor league disabled list. And with that, look for Gary Matthews Jr. to stick on the major league roster for a little longer.
