Tue Feb 12 201316:00O's hope for resolution with Jurrjens soon
Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette said Tuesday that he hopes to have a resolution with Jair Jurrjens within the next couple of days.
Jurrjens agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Orioles last month and took his pre-signing physical soon after, but an official announcement has reportedly been delayed due to concerns over his right knee. "This is an issue that just takes a little bit more time on the process, but hopefully it will get resolved," said Duquette, who didn't dismiss the possibility that the original terms of the agreement could be changed.

Fri Feb 8 201309:09Jair Jurrjens' deal with Orioles in jeopardy?
Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun writes that it's "becoming increasingly unclear whether the one-year deal between Jair Jurrjens and the Orioles will come to fruition."
Encina adds that Jurrjens' physical "has become a week-long process and it doesn't seem like it's heading in a positive direction." The main concern is with the strength of Jurrjens' right knee, which he had surgically-repaired in October of 2010 but has still bothered him over the last couple years. If the two sides can work things out, Jurrjens is expected to receive a one-year, $1.5 million deal which could max out at $4 million with incentives.

Wed Feb 6 201311:18O's looking into Jair Jurrjens' knee
Eduardo A. Encina was told by a team source that the Orioles want to be sure what they are getting physically with Jair Jurrjens before they finalize his one-year contract.
The deal is still expected to be announced this week, but it appears that Jurrjens' physical has been slow and methodical because of his previous knee issues. He is expected to receive a one-year, $1.5 million deal which could max out at $4 million with incentives.

Sat Feb 2 201316:24Orioles to announce Jurrjens signing soon
The Orioles are expected to announce the signing of free agent starter Jair Jurrjens to a one-year, $1.5 million contract early next week.
Jurrjens needs to first undergo a physical. The 27-year-old right-hander has minor league options remaining, and could open the season at Triple-A Norfolk if he doesn't make the Baltimore rotation out of spring training.

Sun Jan 27 201322:26Jurrjens leaning towards not pitching in WBC
The Baltimore Sun reports that Jair Jurrjens still hasn't decided whether to pitch for the Netherlands in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
Jurrjens recently signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Orioles and can't afford to miss time in spring training if he hopes to open to win a starting rotation spot. He also pitched throughout 2012 with a knee brace and blamed a quad injury on his diminished velocity last season. The 26-year-old right-hander doesn't expect to make a decision until his contract with Baltimore is finalized sometime next week.

Fri Jan 18 201309:18Rockies interested in Jair Jurrjens
The Denver Post's Troy Renck lists Jair Jurrjens among the starters the Rockies have interest in.
They're also interested in Derek Lowe and Brandon Webb, among others. Jurrjens has had ongoing knee issues and is coming off a brutal 6.89 ERA and 1.86 WHIP across 48 1/3 innings in 2012. However, he put up a sub-3.00 ERA in two of the previous three seasons, so he's worthy of a gamble.

Thu Dec 6 201215:20Royals 'exploring group of starters'
The Royals are "exploring a group of starters" that includes fee agent right-hander Jair Jurrjens.
That's the word from Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, who names righties Brett Myers and Kevin Correia as other possibilities for Kansas City. Jurrjens was non-tendered by the Braves in late November after posting a brutal 6.89 ERA and 1.86 WHIP across 48 1/3 innings in 2012.

Fri Nov 30 201217:12Braves to non-tender Jurrjens, Moylan
The Braves will not tender a contract to RHP Jair Jurrjens.
An easy call, as Jurrjens struggled miserably at the major league level in 2012 and simply wasn't worth bringing back at close to his $5.5 million salary. However, it's a safe bet that plenty of teams will be willing to buy in on a potential rebound. Peter Moylan will also be non-tendered, but could be brought back at a discounted rate.

Tue Nov 27 201218:24Jair Jurrjens expected to be non-tendered
The Braves are not expected to offer Jair Jurrjens a contract prior to Friday's deadline.
It's no surprise, as Jurrjens flopped in 2012 and is due a raise in arbitration from his $5.5 million salary. Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reported earlier this month that Jurrjens was drawing some trade interest, but it seems unlikely the Braves will get anything for him when teams know he's likely to be non-tendered. The Bravos could also non-tender reliever Peter Moylan.

Wed Nov 7 201220:22Jair Jurrjens drawing some trade interest
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that Jair Jurrjens is "drawing some trade interest."
The Braves understandably want to move Jurrjens, as he's unlikely to crack next year's rotation and is due a raise in arbitration from his $5.5 million salary this season. While Jurrjens had an injury-riddled, disappointing 2012, he finished the year healthy, so it's possible someone will take a shot on him rebounding.

Thu Aug 16 201217:50Jurrjens fine after dizzy spell
Jair Jurrjens (dehydration) has been deemed "fine."
Jurrjens spent Wednesday night in the hospital after exiting a rehab start at Triple-A Gwinnett with a feeling of dizziness that was brought on by dehydration. He should be ready to pitch again in four days and could rejoin the Braves as a long reliever later this month.

Fri Aug 10 201218:23Jurrjens (groin) to begin rehab stint Friday
Jair Jurrjens (groin) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Gwinnett.
It was previously reported that Jurrjens would pitch Monday, but that was incorrect. The 26-year-old right-hander will likely stay in the minors for the rest of August before rejoining the Braves in September, though it will likely be in a relief role.

Jair Jurrjens (groin) will begin a rehab assignment Monday at Triple-A Gwinnett
Jurrjens has been relegated to the bullpen but will work as a starter during his rehab. It's possible he'll remain in the minors once he's back to full health.

Wed Jul 25 201211:51Jurrjens to be skipped in rotation
Jair Jurrjens will be skipped in the starting rotation this weekend against the Phillies.
Jurrjens has allowed 14 runs in just 5 2/3 innings across his past two outings and could be headed for the minors if the Braves acquire a starting pitcher before the non-waiver trade deadline. Ben Sheets is now scheduled to start Friday while Mike Minor will pitch Saturday and Tim Hudson will go on Sunday.

Tue Jul 17 201222:26Jair Jurrjens rocked by Giants
Jair Jurrjens was pummeled by the Giants Tuesday, allowing eight runs on eight hits and three walks over just 3 1/3 innings.
Ugly. Jurrjens had pitched pretty well since returning from the minors, but the Giants had no trouble squaring him up from the get-go in this one. The blowup now holds a 6.20 ERA and 1.78 WHIP for the year. He'll face the Nats this weekend.

Sun Jul 8 201217:06Jair Jurrjens goes seven in third win
Jair Jurrjens scattered six hits and three runs across seven innings of work Sunday, improving to 3-2 in Atlanta's 4-3 win over the Phillies.
Jurrjens struck out four and walked one in his second quality start in four outings since rejoining the Braves rotation. The owner of a 4.97 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 18/15 K/BB ratio through 41 2/3 total frames this season, tread carefully with Jurrjens in mixed leagues in the second half.

Tue Jul 3 201223:14Jurrjens solid again as Braves smash Cubs
Jair Jurrjens turned in another solid outing in Tuesday's win over the Cubs, scattering nine hits over five innings without allowing an earned run.
Sure, it's hard to technically "scatter" nine hits, but he was able to pitch out of trouble for most of the game. The Cubs did manage to push three runs across in the third inning, but only after a Dan Uggla throwing error extended the inning. It's an admittedly small sample, but Jurrjens is now 2-0 with a 1.47 ERA in three starts since rejoining the Braves' rotation. He won't generate any strikeouts, and could turn back into a pumpkin at any time, but there may be mixed league fantasy value here. He makes for an interesting option this Sunday when he takes on the Phillies in Philadelphia.

Fri Jun 22 201213:50Jair Jurrjens recalled
Braves recalled RHP Jair Jurrjens from Triple-A Gwinnett.
He'll get the ball Friday in Boston. Jurrjens held a 9.37 ERA and 2.45 WHIP in four starts for the Braves earlier this season before being sent down, and he held just a 5.27 ERA in nine outings in the minors. He'll surely improve, but he's got an awfully tough matchup right out of the gate.

Sun Jun 17 201216:26Jurrjens to be promoted to start Fri. vs. Sox
Jair Jurrjens will be recalled to start on Friday against the Red Sox in Boston.
The Braves delivered the news to the right-hander on Sunday. As you recall, Jurrjens was banished to the minors in late-April after opening the season with an ugly 9.37 ERA, 2.45 WHIP and 8/10 K/BB ratio in 16 1/3 innings over four starts. The 26-year-old right-hander hasn't been much better at Triple-A Gwinnett, going 3-4 with a 5.27 ERA in nine outings. "He's made some progress," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "His velocity has been up there. There's some separation there with his change-up, so we're going to give him a shot. He's been an All-Star; he has the experience. Give him an opportunity again. I'm curious when he comes back to see how he pitches." We're all curious. But only owners in deeper NL-owner leagues should put him in active lineups for this coming week.
