Wed Sep 29 202108:08Kenley Jansen Given The Day Off On Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen wasn't utilized in a save opportunity in Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided to give Blake Treinen the ninth inning and Treinen went on to record the save, despite giving up a solo home run to Jake Cronenworth in the inning. After the game, Roberts said that Jansen was available for the game, but he decided to give him the day off. He explained that Jansen had pitched a lot lately and that he wanted to keep his closer "frisky and fresh." Jansen pitched three out of four days from Thursday through Sunday, earning saves in his latter two appearances. Expect to see him called upon the next time a save opportunity pops up.

Tue Sep 14 202118:56Kenley Jansen Activated From Paternity List
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen was activated from the paternity list and will be available to pitch Tuesday night against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. The 33-year-old right-hander only missed a few games but is probably very eager to return to the bullpen since he has turned his season around. After a rough summer, Jansen has found his groove, tallying one win with a 0.56 ERA and a 16:6 strikeout-to-walk ratio over his last 15 appearances.

Wed Sep 1 202109:10Kenley Jansen Works Clean Inning For 30th Save
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen worked a perfect 1-2-3 inning to earn his 30th save of the season on Tuesday versus the Atlanta Braves. Jansen faced the minimum of three batters and struck out two. The veteran had a really nice first half of the season, but has been shaky in the second half. Despite that, he has remained the Dodgers closer and now owns a 2.60 ERA for the season. Managers should continue to roll with the veteran.

Sun Aug 29 202110:53Kenley Jansen Works Clean Inning For 29th Save
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen worked a perfect 1-2-3 inning to close out the Colorado Rockies on Saturday evening. Jansen has been having a rough second half, but it was a good sign to see him work a clean frame. The veteran is entrenched as the closer, even with his recent struggles and has now recorded 29 saves to the tune of a 2.70 ERA. Managers should continue to hold onto the right-hander down the stretch, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to insure him with Blake Treinen.

Wed Aug 25 202108:27Kenley Jansen Records 28th Save
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen converted his 28th save of the season in Tuesday's victory versus the San Diego Padres. The veteran has been having a rough second half of the season and despite converting the save and not allowing a run, Jansen was still shaky with a hit allowed and a walk in the inning. He also recorded two strikeouts in the contest. Manager Dave Roberts continues to show confidence in the veteran and he should remain the closer moving forward. Jansen has now converted 28 of his 33 save opportunities this season and owns a 2.81 ERA on the season. Managers should feel confident about him remaining the closer, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to insure him relief pitcher Blake Treinen, especially in leagues that count holds.

Sat Aug 21 202119:57Kenley Jansen Converts 27th Save
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen picked up his 27th save of the season on Saturday against the New York Mets. Jansen hit Kevin Pillar to open the frame, but then worked a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts to shut the door on the Mets. Jansen has been having a shaky second half, but he has now worked back-to-back games with two clean innings and two saves. The veteran is unlikely to be available on Sunday and relief pitchers Blake Treinen or Corey Knebel would likely be next up in a save situation. Jansen is 2-4 with a 2.86 ERA with 61 strikeouts in 50 1/3 innings and he should continue to be rostered in all formats.

Sat Aug 21 202101:17Kenley Jansen Completes Easy Save Friday
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Kenley Jansen set down all three New York Mets he faced Friday night to earn his 26th save of the season. He struck out one batter. Jansen may not be the dominant closer he used to be, but that hasn't stopped him from producing an excellent season to the tune of a 2.92 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts in 49 1/3 innings. He's been especially strong over his last seven games with a 1.13 ERA and four saves in that time. Fantasy managers can count on him going forward, even if other relievers get the occasional late-inning opportunity.

Wed Aug 18 202107:29Kenley Jansen Records 25th Save
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen earned his 25th save on the season versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday. The veteran was called on to protect a two-run lead and was shaky during his outing. Jansen allowed two hits, one run, one walk and struck out one. The closer has had a rough second half, but remains the Dodgers closer for now. If manager Dave Roberts were to shake things up, Corey Knebel and Blake Treinen would be the likeliest to see action in the ninth inning. Both Treinen and Knebel are worth rostering in leagues that count holds. Jansen now has 2.98 ERA to go along with his 25 saves.

Sat Aug 14 202117:49Kenley Jansen Is Unavailable On Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen is unavailable to pitch out of the bullpen for Saturday's game against the New York Mets. Jansen has pitched to a 2.91 ERA, a 3.61 FIP, 56 strikeouts, 30 walks, and 23 saves in 46.1 innings this season. He previously threw a scoreless inning on Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies and worked two innings on Friday against the New York Mets. Fellow relievers Blake Treinen and Brusdar Graterol are also unavailable. With both Jansen and Treinen not pitching tonight, Corey Knebel could be a candidate to pitch in a potential save situation for the Dodgers. The 29-year-old has struck out 13 batters in 7.2 innings this season while also giving up four walks and three runs. He's worth a look for fantasy managers looking for streaming options in the bullpen on Saturday.

Wed Aug 4 202108:49Kenley Jansen Coming Off A Dreadful Month Of July
July was a month to forget for Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen. He converted just two of his five save opportunities in the month and posted an ugly 9.39 ERA over 7.2 innings. Jansen had been fantastic just about all year before the calendar turned to July. He entered July with a 1.38 ERA and just two blown saves. He's currently tied for eighth in the majors with 22 saves. He's holding opposing batters to a 28.7% hard-hit rate, which ranks in the 96th percentile. However, he's really struggled with walks as his 16.3% walk rate ranks in the bottom 2% of the league. Jansen will remain the Dodgers closer unless he completely implodes. Expect for August to be kinder to him than July.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Patrick Sandoval had his no-hit bid broken up with one out in the ninth inning on a soft double by rookie Brent Rooker and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1 on Saturday night. Sandoval, a 24-year-old lefty who began the game with a 3-13 career record, struck out a career-high 13. There have already been seven no-hitters in the majors this season. The big league record of eight was set in 1884, the first year overhand pitching was permitted. The Twins hadn’t come close to a hit until Rooker, who fanned his first three times up, flared an opposite-field fly that fell just inside the line in right. Sandoval (3-4) smiled after the ball fell, retired the next batter and then was pulled after 108 pitches. He walked one and hit two. Closer Raisel Iglesias allowed an RBI double to Josh Donaldson before getting his 21st save in 25 chances. José Berríos (7-5) allowed two unearned runs in seven innings in perhaps his final start for Minnesota. ASTROS 4, RANGERS... [More]
