Wed Jun 17 201518:42Prince Fielder: Sitting Wednesday
Fielder is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
With the Rangers not having the luxury of the DH in Los Angeles and lefty Clayton Kershaw due up for the Dodgers, Fielder will head to the bench for just the second time this season. Kyle Blanks will get the start at first base and bat cleanup.
Wed Jun 3 201516:21Prince Fielder: Gets The Day Off Wednesday
Fielder is not in the lineup Wednesday for the first time this year, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Fielder's batting average fell 13 points over his last five games, and he is just 4-for-25 (.160) in his career against White Sox starter Chris Sale, so manager Jeff Bannister decided to hold him out Wednesday with Sale on the mound for the opposition. Given that Wednesday's day off is Fielder's first of the season, expect him to be back in the lineup Thursday barring something unforeseen.

Fielder stayed scalding hot Monday against the Indians, jacking his ninth homer of the season and contributing three runs and three RBI.
With a .392 batting average, eight homers, and 25 RBI in May, Fielder is making a compelling case for AL Player of the Month honors. With his surgically-repaired neck presenting no problems to date, Fielder looks like he could be a top-five first baseman the rest of the way.

Fielder stayed red-hot Saturday, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, three RBI and his eighth home run of the season.
That's three home runs in his last two games and five in his last 10 for Fielder, who has found his power stroke with a vengeance after launching just one homer in April. The big man will get one more chance to have fun with Yankee Stadium's right field short porch on Sunday before the Rangers head for Cleveland.

Fielder was 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs and four RBI in the Rangers' win over the Yankees on Friday night.

Fielder is hitting .344/.401/.497 with five homers, 23 RBI and 15 runs scored through 38 games this season for the Rangers.
While he's currently toting a sub-.200 ISO for the third straight season, it's actually the function of having a much higher batting average than he's delivered at any point during his big league career. Fielder is currently hitting .367 on balls in play, which stands out compared to his .305 career BABIP. While it's almost certain that he won't carry this year's mark as a new baseline, Fielder has shown an ability to take pitches on the outer portion of the strike zone the opposite way. He's also making hard contact at a 34.6% clip (career 37.2%) after falling to 26.2% before season-ending neck surgery in 2014. With the lowest strikeout rate of his career (11.4%), a balanced approach regarding where he's putting balls in play, and power that is trending back in the right direction, Fielder is making his push back up the ranks at his position through the first six weeks of the 2015 campaign.

Fielder now boasts a robust .386/.435/.509 slash for the year, though he entered Tuesday's game with just three extra-base hits (both doubles) on the season. He's hit safely in eight of his past 10 games however and has provided some nice early returns for those that gambled on him following an injury-filled 2014.

Fielder re-iterated that last season's health woes are behind him, the team's web site reports.
Fielder has just two extra-base hits this spring (one double, one homer) but hasn't had any health-related setbacks or concerns and should be a good bounce back candidate as a result.

Fielder (neck) took batting practice Monday after reporting to Rangers camp, Anthony Andro of Fox Sports Southwest reports.
The link includes video of Fielder taking a few of those cuts, while he didn't appear to have any physical discomfort during the session. While speaking to reporters afterward, Fielder did not offer up any sort of modified schedule for his workload this spring, which falls in line with the clean bill of health that he was given a couple of weeks back. Presumably, he'll be ready to go when the Rangers begin playing spring training games next week.
Tue Feb 10 201515:45Prince Fielder: Gets Clean Bill Of Health
Fielder (neck) received a clean bill of health from Dr. Drew Dossett on Monday, FOX Sports Southwest reports.
Fielder deemed himself completely pain-free and "ready to go" late last month, but the clean bill of health from Dr. Dossett, who performed Fielder's neck surgery in May, effectively clears the 30-year-old for the start of spring training. A five-time All-Star, Fielder was limited to just 42 games last season after missing just one game from 2009-2013.

Fri Jun 27 201412:15Fielder could swing bat before end of season
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Thursday that there's an outside chance Prince Fielder (neck) could take some swings before the end of the season.
The first baseman isn't going to return this year after having surgery for cervical fusion of the C5-C6 discs in his neck back in May. But, it would be a nice step and help ease Fielder's mind going into the offseason if he's able to begin swinging the bat in September.
