Mon Apr 29 | 22:19 | Rays Place Chris Devenski On 15-Day Injured List | Chris Devenski | RP | Rays | Free Agent |
The Tampa Bay Rays placed right-hander Chris Devenski (knee) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 26) on Monday with right-knee tendinitis and recalled left-hander Jacob Lopez from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. Devenski will be eligible to return to the Rays bullpen on May 11. The former 25th-round pick of the Chicago White Sox in 2011 out of Cal State Fullerton has had a rough start to his first full season with the Rays, as he's allowed 17 runs (12 earned) on 19 hits while walking six and striking out 11 in 14 innings out of Tampa's bullpen. Devenski is not on the fantasy radar at all and could be designated for assignment once he's ready to come off the injured list in May. |

Mon Apr 29 | 20:24 | Ken Waldichuk Getting Close To Rehab Assignment | Ken Waldichuk | SP | Athletics | Free Agent |
Oakland Athletics left-hander Ken Waldichuk (elbow) faced live hitters in a 25-pitch live batting practice session on Monday and will pitch in a simulated game and could go on a minor-league rehab assignment after that. The 26-year-old former fifth-round pick by the New York Yankees in 2019 out of Saint Mary's could be a starting rotation option for the A's and fantasy managers in deeper leagues sooner than later. In his second big-league season in 2023, he went 4-9 with a 5.36 ERA (5.30 FIP) and 1.56 WHIP with 71 walks and 132 strikeouts in 141 innings over 35 appearances (22 starts). His 3.42 ERA in his final 10 outings last year gave fantasy managers some hope that he could be better this year, but a UCL sprain and flex strain have delayed his start to 2024. Waldichuk is a consideration in AL-only leagues once he's activated. |

Mon Apr 29 | 18:19 | Aaron Hicks Gets Designated For Assignment | Aaron Hicks | CF/RF | Angels | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Aaron Hicks has been designated for assignment by the organization on Monday. The veteran outfielder struggled during his brief time with the organization. Hicks slashed .140/.222/.193 over 18 games with the Halos. He put together a solid stint with the Baltimore Orioles last season. Sadly, Hicks couldn't translate that success over to his new team. Hicks will either decide to take the option to Triple-A or elect free agency. In a corresponding move, infielder Cole Tucker has been recalled from Triple-A to join the active roster. |

Mon Apr 29 | 12:08 | Pablo Reyes Designated For Assignment | Pablo Reyes | 2B/SS | Red Sox | Free Agent |
The Boston Red Sox designated infielder Pablo Reyes for assignment on Monday to make room for recently acquired first baseman/designated hitter Garrett Cooper on the active roster. Reyes wasn't able to carry over his strong performance at the plate from last season and was hitting just .183/.234/.217 with no home runs, five RBI, one stolen base and four runs scored in 60 at-bats with Boston early on in 2024. If the 30-year-old isn't claimed on waivers or traded, he could head to Triple-A Worcester and remain in the organization. With Triston Casas (rib) on the 60-day injured list, the 33-year-old Cooper is expected to see plenty of playing time at first base for the BoSox, making him worth a waiver-wire pickup in deep fantasy leagues. |

Mon Apr 29 | 12:03 | Jonathan Bowlan Called Up To Start Monday | Jonathan Bowlan | SP | Royals | Free Agent |
The Kansas City Royals recalled right-hander Jonathan Bowlan from Triple-A Omaha and optioned right-hander Will Klein to Omaha in a corresponding move on Monday. Bowland will be making his 2024 debut with Kansas City to start in the series opener on Monday against the Blue Jays in Toronto. This will be the 27-year-old's second career start after he made his big-league debut in 2023, going 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, no walks and three strikeouts in just three innings pitched. Bowlan will help cover the rotation spot of Alec Marsh (elbow) for at least this turn through KC's rotation. In his 21 innings at Omaha this year, he has posted a 2.57 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with five walks and 21 strikeouts. Fantasy managers should consider him an extremely shaky streaming option in Toronto. |

Sat Apr 27 | 16:45 | Garrett Cooper Traded To Boston Red Sox | Garrett Cooper | 1B | Red Sox | Free Agent |
The Chicago Cubs traded first baseman Garrett Cooper to the Boston Red Sox for cash considerations on Saturday. The Red Sox will be taking on the remainder of Cooper's $1.75 million salary for 2024. Cooper was designated for assignment by the Cubs earlier in the week. Boston has been decimated by injuries to start the season, including their starting first baseman Triston Casas who suffered a torn cartilage in his ribs last week. That injury spurred the need for Boston to add a first baseman to the roster and Garrett Cooper appears to be their man, at least in the immediate future. Cooper slashed .270/.341/.432 in 41 PA for the Cubs, a line that easily exceeds the production the Red Sox are seeing from Bobby Dalbec. Fantasy managers should grab Cooper off the waiver wire as he should be thrust into a starting role fairly quickly. |

Fri Apr 26 | 18:19 | Colin Poche Placed On Injured List | Colin Poche | RP | Rays | Free Agent |
Tampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Colin Poche (back) has been placed on the 15-day injured list on Friday. The move is retroactive to April 24th with Poche dealing with back tightness. The organization has not given a timetable for how long Poche will be sidelined. This is a hit to the Rays bullpen with Pete Fairbanks already sidelined as well. The loss of these two pitchers should mean increased save chances for Jason Adam and Garrett Cleavinger. |

Fri Apr 26 | 12:27 | Carson Kelly Scratched With Rib-Cage Soreness | Carson Kelly | C | Tigers | Free Agent |
Detroit Tigers catcher Carson Kelly (rib cage) has been scratched from Friday's starting lineup against the visiting Kansas City Royals with left rib-cage soreness. He will be available off the bench, however. In his place, Jake Rogers will start behind the plate and will bat eighth against Royals right-hander Seth Lugo. The fact that Kelly is available off the bench means that his injury probably isn't very serious, so the 29-year-old backstop could have a chance to return for Saturday's contest. The former second-round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2012 is hitting just .205 (9-for-44) on the year with a homer and six RBI for Detroit. Rogers has been even worse, going 6-for-45 (.133) with a homer and two RBI, so DFS gamers should look elsewhere at the catcher position on Friday. |

Fri Apr 26 | 12:22 | Romy Gonzalez Not Close To Returning | Romy González | 2B | Red Sox | Free Agent |
Boston Red Sox infielder Romy Gonzalez (wrist) is not progressing as the team had hoped and is not close to a return from the 10-day injured list. Gonzalez landed on the injured list with a left-wrist sprain on April 13, but the good news is he's not dealing with any structural damage. There's no timetable on the 27-year-old's return since he has yet to resume baseball activities. Once he is able to come back from the injured list, Gonzalez will serve as infield depth for the BoSox up the middle behind Ceddanne Rafaela, and eventually, Vaughn Grissom (hamstring). So far in his first season in Beantown, Gonzalez has only seen action in two games and has gone 1-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout. He can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes. |

Fri Apr 26 | 08:38 | Jose Trevino Blasts Homer In Loss | Jose Trevino | C | Yankees | Free Agent |
New York Yankees catcher Jose Trevino made some noise with his bat during Thursday's game against the Oakland Athletics. He went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the loss to the A's. The solo blast by Trevino was the only run the Yankees could put on the board during Thursday's loss. Trevino has been decent, slashing .273/.347/.756 with two homers and eight RBI across 44 plate appearances. |

Thu Apr 25 | 14:52 | Bowden Francis Placed On 15-Day Injured List | Bowden Francis | RP/SP | Blue Jays | Free Agent |
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Bowden Francis has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to right forearm extensor tendinitis. The club has recalled left-hander Brendon Little from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Francis interestingly pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen for the Jays in their loss to the Royals on Wednesday but will seemingly miss some time moving forward. The 28-year-old cracked the rotation out of spring training but struggled out of the gate and has recently pitched in a multi-inning bullpen role. He has struggled to an 8.59 ERA across five outings (two starts) while allowing four home runs in 14 2/3 innings, good for a bloated 2.45 HR/9 clip. |

Thu Apr 25 | 14:18 | Oswald Peraza Hitting, Deep Into Throwing Program | Oswald Peraza | 3B/SS | Yankees | Free Agent |
New York Yankees utility man Oswald Peraza (shoulder) is "deep into his throwing program" and is hitting at the team's spring complex in Tampa, FLA, according to manager Aaron Boone. However, Boone also noted that the 23-year-old remains weeks away from playing in minor-league games. Peraza bounced between the Yankees and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last season, scuffling to a .191 average with two homers and a .539 OPS in 52 games with the Yankees while improving to a .268 average with 14 homers, 16 steals, and an .836 OPS at the Triple-A level. With third baseman DJ LeMahieu leaving his minor-league rehab game with continued foot pain, Peraza could see reps at the hot corner upon his return depending on the severity of LeMahieu's ailment. |

Thu Apr 25 | 11:17 | Garrett Cleavinger Records Second Save Wednesday | Garrett Cleavinger | RP | Rays | Free Agent |
Tampa Bay Rays reliever Garrett Cleavinger picked up his second save in four days in Wednesday's 7-5 victory over the Tigers. With closer Pete Fairbanks on the IL, Cleavinger has been used to close out games and has been successful so far in doing so. It was thought that this would be a closer-by-committee situation, but Jason Adam was used in the seventh and eighth innings in Wednesday's game, while Colin Poche blew a save opportunity on Tuesday, so Cleavinger might be the front runner for save opportunities at this point. These two saves were Cleavinger's first two of his career, so he has no prior experience in the role, but has a solid 2.53 ERA so far on the season and has struck out 14 batters in 10 2/3 IP. The command could use some work, as he's walked nine batters thus far including one in the ninth inning on Wednesday, but so far it hasn't been a real problem for him. The 30-year-old could get a handful more save opportunities with Fairbanks on the shelf, and could be picked up in most leagues for managers in need of saves. |

Wed Apr 24 | 19:25 | Chris Flexen Set To Start On Friday | Chris Flexen | RP/SP | White Sox | Free Agent |
Chicago White Sox right-hander Chris Flexen is lined up to start on Friday against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. It will be Flexen's fourth start of the season. The 29-year-old former 14th-round pick by the New York Mets in 2012 has appeared out of the bullpen for the Pale Hose his last two times out and is now sporting a 6.41 ERA (5.75 FIP) and 1.42 WHIP with seven walks and 11 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings pitched. Flexen has been more effective in his two relief appearances than his three starts, and the matchup against Tampa doesn't really make him attractive as a streaming sleeper in deep fantasy leagues on Friday. He'll be making the start on three days of rest. Flexen could be sent right back to Chicago's bullpen once Mike Clevinger is finally ready to make his season debut. |

Wed Apr 24 | 16:36 | Addison Barger Being Called Up By Blue Jays | Addison Barger | RF/SS | Blue Jays | Free Agent |
Outfield prospect Addison Barger is joining the Toronto Blue Jays in Kansas City on Wednesday and is expected to be active, according to a source. Barger offers left-handed power and the ability to play the corner-outfield spots as well as third base. It's notable after outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (hip) left Tuesday night's game with hip-flexor discomfort. The team's No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was hitting .314 (22-for-70) with three home runs, 21 RBI and 17 runs scored in 19 games for Triple-A Buffalo before getting his first big-league call-up. The 24-year-old former sixth-round pick in 2018 could see decent playing time in the short term in Toronto's outfield if Kiermaier hits the injured list, making him worth a pickup in deeper fantasy leagues for his 30-homer potential from the left side. |

Tue Apr 23 | 21:49 | Gio Urshela Resumes Baseball Activities | Gio Urshela | 3B | Tigers | Free Agent |
Detroit Tigers third baseman Gio Urshela (hamstring) was cleared to resume baseball activities on Tuesday. After suffering a Grade 1 right hamstring strain in Friday's win over the Minnesota Twins, Urshela was able to do some straight-line running drills on Tuesday. The fact that the 32-year-old defensive-minded infielder is already progressing from the injury means he should be able to return to the Tigers in early May. Although Urshela was hitting for a .298 batting average (17-for-57) before going down, he has just two extra-base hits and six RBI over 18 games in Detroit's weak lineup and is not a recommended stash in the majority of fantasy leagues. Utility man Matt Vierling will handle the lion's share of the reps at third base until Urshela is back healthy, but fantasy managers can do better on waiver wires. |

Tue Apr 23 | 19:11 | Robert Stephenson To Have Tommy John Surgery | Robert Stephenson | RP | Angels | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Angels right-handed reliever Robert Stephenson (elbow) said he will have Tommy John surgery with the internal brace on April 30 and he's expecting to have a rehab timeline of 12 to 18 months. The exact nature of his surgery hadn't been revealed until Stephenson talked to the media on Tuesday for the first time since getting injured. We already knew the 31-year-old veteran would miss the rest of 2024, but now we know the exact nature of his surgery. He signed a three-year, $33 million contract with the Halos in January but didn't throw a single pitch in the regular season and also was battling a shoulder injury in spring training. There's no guarantee that Stephenson will be ready to roll for the start of the 2025 campaign. |

Tue Apr 23 | 17:45 | Cubs Designate Garrett Cooper For Assignment | Garrett Cooper | 1B | Red Sox | Free Agent |
The Chicago Cubs designated outfielder Garrett Cooper for assignment on Tuesday, according to a source. Cooper wasn't exactly slumping at the plate, but the Cubs think he's expendable in order to bring up first base prospect Matt Mervis as another right-handed bat. The 33-year-old Cooper was hitting .270/.341/.432 with a home run, double, triple, six RBI and three runs scored in 41 trips to the plate and 12 games for the Cubs before getting DFA'd. He had walked four times and struck out 13 times. For now, Mervis is likely to see most of his time as the team's designated hitter, at least until outfielder Seiya Suzuki (oblique) is able to return from the injured list. Mervis is worth a pickup in NL-only leagues for now. |

Detroit Tigers second baseman Andy Ibanez (hamstring) had a full workout at second base on Tuesday, according to Chris McCosky of The Detroit News. Ibanez has been on the injured list due to a left-hamstring strain, and the reports indicate the second baseman looked to be moving well. Ibanez played in five games for the Tigers this season before the injury and was slashing .267/.235/.267. |

Tue Apr 23 | 08:54 | Emmanuel Rodriguez Continues To Impress | Emmanuel Rodriguez | CF | Twins | Free Agent |
| | | Manuel Rodríguez | RP | Rays | Free Agent |
Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Emmanuel Rodriguez has been doing it all this season for Double-A Wichita. The 21-year-old outfielder has dealt with injuries the last two seasons, but looks fully recovered in his first 14 games of the season. Over that span, Rodriguez is hitting a healthy .289 with four homers, 10 RBI and eight stolen bases. He also has a shiny 1.219 OPS. Rodriguez has risen a level in each year of professional career with the Twins and held his own at each stop. The left-handed hitter has very good bat speed and strong plate discipline at such a young age and his power game is just developing as he fills out his body. The biggest flaw for the youngster has been his ability to stay healthy, but he has the future makings of a five-tool star, if everything clicks. He is a couple years away, but he should be looked at by dynasty managers and a name for redraft managers to file away for as early as next season. |
