Mon May 13 | 01:18 | Kenley Jansen Earns Seventh Save On Sunday | Kenley Jansen | RP | Dodgers | Free Agent |
Boston Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen tossed a clean ninth inning to pick up the save in a 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals. Jansen allowed just a hit in his inning of work, with no walks or strikeouts to account for. The veteran closer pitched on a third consecutive day for the first time this season, a move made possible because of his sparse usage in May, with only one other appearance before this weekend. Although he's had a few shaky outings, Jansen has been mostly solid for the Red Sox this season and should continue to see the bulk of their save opportunities. He is a good closing option in fantasy. |

Mon May 13 | 01:12 | Yu Darvish Twirls Gem Against Dodgers | Yu Darvish | SP | Rangers | Free Agent |
San Diego Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish was excellent again on Sunday, tossing seven shutout innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 4-0 victory. Darvish allowed just two hits and one walk while punching out seven in this one. The 37-year-old is turning back the clock since returning from neck tightness in late April, going 3-0 in his three starts while not allowing any runs and generating a 15:2 K:BB ratio. Darvish is always a tough pitcher to analyze, but he is a must-start while he is on this heater. Looking to sell high on the righty might be a shrewd move, but it is also a risk. |

Mon May 13 | 00:54 | Brandon Nimmo Hits Walk-Off Homer On Sunday Night Baseball | Brandon Nimmo | CF | Mets | Free Agent |
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (ribs) hit a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth against the Atlanta Braves to give the Mets a 4-3 win. Nimmo, who was sitting out on Sunday due to intercostal irritation, came in as a defensive sub in the eighth inning and stayed in to hit in the ninth. The veteran lefty said in an interview earlier in the game that he would be good to go Monday, but apparently he was already feeling well enough to make a major impact on this game. Nimmo should be started in weekly leagues next week barring any news of a setback. |

Sun May 12 | 19:27 | Paul Goldschmidt Snaps Hitting Skid | Paul Goldschmidt | 1B | Diamondbacks | Free Agent |
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt has been flat-out awful to start the month of May. The veteran slugger entered Sunday's game 1-for-32 with 14 strikeouts. Luckily, was able to do some damage against the Milwaukee Brewers. Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in the victory. This will raise his slash line to .197/.280/.279 on the season. This situation is obviously frustrating for fantasy managers, but maybe this is a sign of more good things to come. |

Sun May 12 | 19:22 | Seth Lugo Racks Up 12 Strikeouts | Seth Lugo | SP | Mets | Free Agent |
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Seth Lugo was excellent on the mound during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The right-hander has been outstanding lately and his success continued here. Lugo coasted through eight innings, allowing one run, and racked up a career-high 12 strikeouts. The veteran right-hander holds a 6-1 record, 1.66 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 48/12 K/BB ratio over 59 2/3 innings. He'll look to keep the great times rolling against the Oakland Athletics next weekend. |

Sun May 12 | 16:50 | Michael Conforto Heads To Injured List With Hamstring Strain | Michael Conforto | LF | Mets | Free Agent |
San Francisco Giants outfielder Michael Conforto (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with a right hamstring strain. Conforto was removed from Saturday's game in the fourth inning with the ailment. The 31-year-old was leading the Giants with seven home runs and 40 hits at the time of his injury. Luis Matos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento as a corresponding move and figures to fit into the outfield mix while Conforto is shelved. Matos is more of a wait-and-see fantasy asset at this point since he has struggled in the minors so far this season. |

Sun May 12 | 16:38 | Justin Verlander Tosses Vintage Outing Against Tigers | Justin Verlander | SP | Tigers | Free Agent |
Houston Astros starter Justin Verlander was in fine form on Sunday afternoon against the Detroit Tigers. The veteran right-hander tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out eight batters. It was a nice bounce-back performance for Verlander after he surrendered seven runs to the New York Yankees in his previous outing. The 41-year-old now owns a 2-1 record this season to go along with a 3.38 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 23:12 K:BB through five starts. Verlander does not possess the same strikeout stuff he once had, but he is still a quality fantasy asset capable of churning out quality starts. He lines up against a surprisingly stout Milwaukee Brewers offense in his next projected start. |

Sun May 12 | 16:25 | Tyler Glasnow's Next Start Being Pushed Back | Tyler Glasnow | RP | Pirates | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow was initially projected to make his next start on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants, but the team is going to push it back at least a day. Glasnow has had five days off between every start he has made in 2024 and the Dodgers do not want to change things. Wednesday's contest will likely be a bullpen game or another roster move will be made. Glasnow is probable to pitch on Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds, but that has not been confirmed yet. The 30-year-old is a must-start option whenever he takes the mound next as he has been phenomenal during his first season in California. |

Sun May 12 | 16:06 | Brandon Nimmo Not In Sunday's Lineup | Brandon Nimmo | CF | Mets | Free Agent |
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (ribs) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's showdown against the Atlanta Braves. Nimmo left Saturday's game early after experiencing intercostal irritation after a check swing. It is unclear whether Nimmo will be able to return to the lineup on Monday. DJ Stewart would be the biggest beneficiary if Nimmo continues to miss time. Stewart is starting in left field and batting leadoff on Sunday, but his .185/.372/.415 slash line leaves a lot to be desired. |

Sun May 12 | 14:20 | Kris Bryant Nearing Rehab Assignment | Kris Bryant | 3B | Cubs | Free Agent |
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (back) was seen taking batting practice multiple times and running the bases this week. This suggests that he is quickly approaching his rehab assignment, which is tentatively scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 14. Manager Bud Black said that the plan is for Bryant to rejoin the major league roster next weekend when they travel to San Francisco for a three-game set opening on Friday. Bryant struggled at the plate at the beginning of the season with a poor .149/.273/.255 line through 13 games. Last season, in 80 games, he also disappointed with a .233/.313/.367 line. The 32-year-old has been battling injuries for the past few seasons and should remain on your waiver wire for the time being. |

Sun May 12 | 13:46 | Jameson Taillon Probable To Start On Tuesday | Jameson Taillon | SP | Pirates | Free Agent |
Chicago Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon (back) will likely make his next start on Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves. The 32-year-old was originally supposed to start this past Friday, but a stiff back prevented him from taking the mound. He was also potentially going to start Sunday's series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but he needed a few more days to get right. Taillon has pitched great when healthy in 2024, as he owns a 3-0 record to go along with a sparkling 1.13 ERA and 0.88 WHIP through four starts. He is locked into a rotation spot for the Cubs and can be treated as a top-70 starting pitcher for the remainder of the season. |

Sun May 12 | 12:53 | Nolan Arenado Gets First Day Off | Nolan Arenado | 3B | Rockies | Free Agent |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is getting his first day off of the season on Sunday in the series finale against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers. In the first 39 games of the season, Arenado, much like the rest of St. Louis' lineup, has struggled with a career-low .703 OPS. The 33-year-old eight-time All-Star is slashing .270/.331/.372 with two home runs, nine doubles, 20 RBI and 14 runs scored in 166 plate appearances. In the first three games of the series against the Brewers, had one hit in 12 at-bats with three strikeouts. Fantasy managers will be hoping Arenado's first day off of the year can get him going. Brendan Donovan is starting at third base on Sunday and is hitting seventh against Brewers right-hander Bryse Wilson. Donovan is hitting .429 with two RBI in seven career at-bats against Wilson. |

Sun May 12 | 12:35 | J.T. Realmuto Out Against Marlins With Knee Injury | J.T. Realmuto | C | Marlins | Free Agent |
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (knee) is getting a breather on Sunday in the series finale against the Marlins in Miami after manager Rob Thomson said that Realmuto came to the ballpark and said his knee is a little banged up. Thomson said he's not worried but wanted to give the veteran starter a rest day. With Realmuto out, Garrett Stubbs will do the catching and will hit ninth of the Phils against Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Monday for the series opener against the New York Mets to see if Realmuto is back in there. Those setting DFS lineups should probably ignore Stubbs as a deep sleeper at the catcher position. He's gone 3-for-22 (.136) in 2024 with no home runs and one stolen base. |

Sun May 12 | 12:23 | Kyle Schwarber Not Playing Sunday | Kyle Schwarber | LF | Cubs | Free Agent |
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (back) is not in the team's starting lineup on Mother's Day on Sunday against the Miami Marlins. Schwarber was pulled from Friday's win over the Marlins early with back soreness and was held out on Saturday. The 31-year-old left-handed slugger said he's hoping to return on either Monday or Tuesday against the New York Mets, so it doesn't appear to be a serious injury. Still, fantasy managers won't have him available for the series finale in Miami on Sunday. Bryce Harper is the DH and will hit third on Sunday, with Alec Bohm starting at first and batting second against Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett. Whit Merrifield is at the hot corner and is serving as the Phils' leadoff hitter. Schwarber continues to hit for a low average (.217) while providing high-end pop for his fantasy managers when he's in the lineup. |

Sun May 12 | 12:18 | Jose Altuve Getting A Day Off | Jose Altuve | 2B | Astros | Free Agent |
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is getting the day off on Mother's Day on Sunday in Detroit against the Tigers. With Altuve on the bench, Mauricio Dubon will start at second base and hit ninth in the batting order against Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty. This will be Altuve's first day off of the season. The 34-year-old eight-time All-Star has been great this year so far with a .317/.379/.503 slash line with an .882 OPS, a league-leading 51 hits, seven home runs, 13 RBI, seven stolen bases and 26 runs scored for the Astros in 39 games played. However, he's slowed down of late, going 3-for-21 with seven strikeouts in his last five games. Dubon is hitting .274 (23-for-84) on the year but with only one home run. The 29-year-old will be a low-upside sleeper in DFS in the nine-hole for Houston in a tough matchup. |

Sun May 12 | 12:14 | George Springer Returns From Illness | George Springer | RF | Astros | Free Agent |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (illness) is in right field and is hitting in his usual leadoff spot on Sunday against the visiting Minnesota Twins and right-hander Bailey Ober. However, Kevin Kiermaier (illness) will miss his third straight game. With Kiermaier still out, Daulton Varsho is making yet another start in center field and will hit in the two-hole for Toronto. Springer will return to the lineup with a .206/.280/.298 slash line with three home runs, six RBI, six stolen bases and 13 runs scored in 157 plate appearances over 36 games. The four-time All-Star and the rest of Toronto's offense will hope to get going on Sunday on Mother's Day in Toronto. In eight career at-bats against Ober, Springer is hitting .250. |

Sun May 12 | 12:09 | Kyle Hendricks Activated And Starting Against Pirates | Kyle Hendricks | SP | Cubs | Free Agent |
The Chicago Cubs activated right-hander Kyle Hendricks (back) from the 15-day injured list on Sunday and optioned pitcher Jose Cuas to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move. Hendricks was originally expected to make one more minor-league rehab start on Sunday, but the Cubs have had a change of heart and will bring him back to close out the series against the Bucs with right-hander Jameson Taillon (back) being pushed back this weekend. The 34-year-old gave up three runs while walking three and striking out 13 in two rehab outings for Iowa in 9 1/3 innings and he will now rejoin Chicago's starting rotation. It's a good matchup against Pittsburgh, but Hendricks hasn't been a very reliable fantasy streamer. He has started the year going 0-3 with a 12.00 ERA and 2.10 WHIP in 21 innings pitched in the majors. |

Sun May 12 | 10:04 | Kevin Pillar Has A Big Day At The Plate | Kevin Pillar | CF | Blue Jays | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Kevin Pillar went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Royals. It was the 35-year-old's second three-hit game in his last four, so perhaps things are looking up for the veteran in what has been an otherwise forgetful beginning to the season. Through May 5, Pillar was batting .161 but this four-game stretch has raised his season average to .261 as he's logged just 12 starts in 2024 and has come in as a pinch-hitter, pinch-runner, or defensive replacement 12 times. The recent outburst is nice to see for Pillar, but you're still staying away for fantasy unless he can get more regular at-bats. |

Sun May 12 | 09:45 | James Paxton Improves To 5-0 Saturday | James Paxton | SP | Mariners | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher James Paxton pitched six innings of shutout ball in Saturday's 5-0 victory over the Padres, allowing just four hits and no walks while striking out four on the way to earning his fifth win of the season. The veteran has an impressive 2.58 ERA on the season and a low HR/FB% of 6.3%, but the 1.41 WHIP and -1.2% K-BB% are a bit concerning. A high 86.3% LOB% with such a low strikeout rate and a FIP of 4.91 indicate things could fall apart quickly for the southpaw. Nevertheless, if he can continue to walk the tightrope, the Dodgers should continue to provide enough run support for the 35-year-old to collect some additional wins. |

Sun May 12 | 08:39 | Teoscar Hernandez Belts Grand Slam Saturday | Teoscar Hernández | OF | Astros | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Dodgers left fielder Teoscar Hernandez hit a grand slam in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Padres. The sixth-inning blast was his 11th home run of the season, one off the league lead of 12, and gave the Dodgers some breathing room after leading just 1-0 to that point in the game. The 31-year-old is having a strong month of May, hitting five home runs already after collecting just three the entire month of April. With 33 RBI, 27 runs scored, and three stolen bases on the season, the veteran has been one of the top fantasy producers so far in 2024. The former All-Star has a 14.3% Barrel% thus far so there's no reason to think the power output will fall off going forward. |
