Tue Nov 23 201014:48Nats do not offer arbitration to Kevin Mench
The Nationals did not offer arbitration to Kevin Mench.
A no-brainer for the Nats. Mench registered only three hits in 27 at-bast this year in Washington and will turn 33 before the start of the 2011 season. He will probably have to settle for a minor league contract.

Fri Aug 6 201008:56Nats to call up Kevin Mench
Kevin Mench is expected to be called up from Triple-A Syracuse when Nyjer Morgan is placed on the disabled list Friday.
Mench hasn't appeared in the majors since 2008 as a member of the Blue Jays. He has a .269/.326/.460 batting line the big leagues. The 32-year-old outfielder is batting .249/.331/.338 with three home runs and 40 RBI over 281 at-bats with Triple-A Syracuse this season. He shouldn't be on your fantasy radar.

Kevin Mench went 2-for-3 and hit his first homer for Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.
It sure seemed like a long shot when Mench was handed a minor league deal on Feb. 3, but perhaps the former Ranger could take over as the Nationals' right fielder at some point during the season. He's hitting .379 with a no strikeouts and six walks in 29 at-bats for Syracuse.
