Sun Apr 30 202312:14Anthony Santander Resting Against Tigers
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander is taking the day off on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers. Santander will get a little breather after going 2-for-7 with a run scored in Saturday's doubleheader against Detroit. The 28-year-old Venezuelan outfielder hasn't done much for Baltimore on offense so far in 2023, as he's gone just 20-for-94 (.213) with eight doubles, two home runs, 11 RBI and eight runs scored in 107 plate appearances over 25 games. It's still early, though, and Santander will continue to be a lineup regular for an improved O's team. With him on the bench Sunday, Kyle Stowers will start in right field and hit cleanup for Baltimore.

Fri Apr 14 202317:05Anthony Santander Back In Lineup Friday
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander (back) has returned to the starting lineup on Friday against the Chicago White Sox and right-hander Mike Clevinger. He's serving as the designated hitter and is batting cleanup after missing the last two games with minor back soreness. The 28-year-old Venezuelan will return to a prime lineup spot, and fantasy managers will be hoping he can get going at the plate sooner than later. Through his first 49 plate appearances in 11 games played, Santander has gone just 8-for-43 (.186) with four doubles, four RBI, two runs scored and 17 strikeouts. He's looking for his first home run of the 2023 season after clubbing a career-high 33 of them in 2022.

Thu Apr 13 202311:59Anthony Santander Still Out Thursday
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander (back) remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Oakland Athletics. However, he has been feeling better and will be available off the bench. It's a good sign that the 28-year-old will be back in the starting lineup on Friday. Santander has gotten off to a slow start for the O's in his first 11 games this year, going 8-for-43 (.186) with four doubles, no home runs, four RBI, two runs scored and a whopping 17 strikeouts in 49 plate appearances. Terrin Vavra is getting the start in right field on Thursday and is hitting seventh in the batting order against Athletics right-hander Adam Oller.

Wed Apr 12 202316:24Anthony Santander Not Playing Wednesday
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander is not in the team's starting lineup against left-hander Ken Waldichuk and the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday because he's dealing with a sore back, according to manager Brandon Hyde. The skipper said it's "not a huge deal," though, so Santander should be available off the bench and treated as day-to-day by fantasy managers. The 28-year-old switch-hitter is off to a slow start for the O's, going 8-for-43 (.186) with four doubles, no homers, four RBI and two runs scored in the first 11 games of 2023. With Santander starting on the bench Wednesday, Adam Frazier draws the start in right field and is batting eighth against Waldichuk. Frazier has little offensive upside, especially low in the lineup.

Mon Feb 27 202316:35Anthony Santander Day-To-Day With Knee Contusion
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander (knee) left the Grapefruit League game early on Monday after he was hit in the left knee/shin area by a pitch in the sixth inning. Santander was able to get up and walk off the field under his own power, but he will not finish the game. He's officially being listed as day-to-day with a knee contusion. The 28-year-old could miss some spring training games this week, but it doesn't sound like an injury that could jeopardize his readiness for Opening Day in late March. Santander set career-highs in home runs (33), RBI (89) and runs scored (78) in 2022 while slashing .240/.318/.455 in a career-high 152 games. He was much better at home and from the right side of the plate as a switch-hitter. Santander is a very interesting power target in fantasy drafts in an improved Baltimore lineup.

Wed Oct 26 202200:45Anthony Santander To Play For Venezuela In WBC
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander will play for Venezuela in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, per Baltimore Sun's Andy Kostka. The 28-year-old should add some pop to their lineup as he did for the O's in 2022, slashing .240/.318/.455 with 33 home runs and 89 RBI. Santander logged career-highs in both HR and RBI hitting in a more competitive lineup, and he should be a fantasy asset once again in 2023. He may even receive a slight fantasy boost if the O's make any off-season moves to bolster their existing lineup.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander (hamstring) was held out of Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies due to a hamstring injury. Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters that Santander sustained the injury during Tuesday's game. The severity of the injury isn't clear at this point, but he should be considered day-to-day. He had a strong month of August, slashing .309/.350/.617 with eight home runs, but he's slowed down in September. He's slashed just .225/.257/.380 with three home runs this month. Mon Sep 13 202112:06Anthony Santander Homers Again Sunday
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander hit his third home run in the last four games in Sunday's 22-7 loss to the Blue Jays. Santander went 1-for-3 with a solo shot, a walk, and a strikeout. He has brought the power lately but his three HR, eight RBI, and .256/.273/.488 slash line in September still isn't all that impressive. The O's have tough matchups this week against the Yankees and Red Sox, so Santander may not be the best waiver wire option even with the HR lately.

Tue Sep 7 202109:46Anthony Santander Hitting Woes Continue Monday
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander had another hitless game with a strikeout in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Royals. The 26-year-old has struggled to produce all season long but has just two hits so far in the month of September. He had been a useful fantasy option over the past several seasons, so 2021 has been a big disappointment for Santander. He still holds fantasy appeal in dynasty and keeper leagues, but he should have been long-dropped in single-season leagues by now.
