Fri Aug 11 202318:30J.P. Crawford Placed On 7-Day Concussion List
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (head) has been placed on the 7-day concussion injured list ahead of Friday's game. Crawford was pulled out of Wednesday's game after colliding with teammate Eugenio Suarez. This is a shame considering Crawford is playing extremely well right now. He's slashing .266/.379.411 with 10 home runs and 38 RBI in 106 games. The hope is that Crawford will have a minimal stint on the injured list. In a corresponding move, infielder Sam Haggerty has been recalled from Triple-A to take the spot on the active roster.

Thu Aug 10 202308:21J.P. Crawford Evaluated For Concussion Symptoms
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (head) left Wednesday's 6-1 win over the San Diego Padres after colliding with Eugenio Suarez on the field. The club is checking him for concussion symptoms, according to Daniel Kramer of MLB.com, and they likely won't know his status until Thursday. Crawford is having a career season at the dish, slashing .266/.379/.411 with 10 bombs, 63 runs, 38 RBI, and one stolen base. Fantasy managers should consider the 28-year-old day-to-day and check back in for more updates, especially those in leagues that count on-base percentage.

Wed Jul 26 202312:06J.P. Crawford Sitting Out Against Twins
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (knee) had a planned day of rest coming on Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins before he was hit in the knee by a pitch on Tuesday night. With Crawford resting, Dylan Moore will get the nod at shortstop and bat eighth against Twins right-hander Joe Ryan. It remains to be seen if Crawford's knee injury is something that will keep him out beyond Wednesday, but the good news is he'll have an extra day to heal up with a scheduled off day coming on Thursday before the series opener on Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. For now, consider the 28-year-old to be day-to-day. Crawford has been hot this month, hitting .333 (27-for-81) with two homers, nine doubles, seven RBI and 11 runs scored in 21 games played.

Sat Jun 24 202313:44J.P. Crawford Returns To the Lineup On Saturday
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) is back in the lineup on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles. Crawford suffered a right shoulder injury in the series against the Yankees earlier this week and ended up missing three games as a result. He appears to be good to go now and is back at shortstop and leading off against Dean Kremer and the Orioles.

Fri Jun 23 202318:49J.P. Crawford Remains Out On Friday
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. This marks the third game in a row that Crawford has missed after suffering a shoulder injury during Tuesday's game. The team hasn't placed him on the injured list as he was expected to return here. However, it doesn't sound like he's quite ready to play yet. In the meantime, Jose Caballero is at shortstop and batting ninth versus right-hander Kyle Gibson. Fantasy managers will have to check back for another update on Crawford.

Thu Jun 22 202316:50J.P. Crawford Out On Thursday
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) is not in the team's starting lineup on Thursday as they face the New York Yankees in the Bronx. Crawford injured his shoulder on Tuesday and left the game early. He hasn't played since, but the injury is considered to be minor and he's hoping to be back in the lineup at some point this weekend against the Baltimore Orioles. He's really struggled this month -- .196 average, one homer, two RBI, 10 K's in 14 games -- and is hitting only .239 (57-for-238) with four home runs and one stolen base on the season as a whole. Jose Caballero will start at shortstop for the M's on Thursday and bat eighth in the lineup against Yankees right-hander Domingo German.

Wed Jun 21 202315:59J.P. Crawford Out Of The Lineup Wednesday
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) is not in the team's starting lineup on Wednesday against the New York Yankees. It's not a surprise after he was forced from Tuesday's game early due to a right-shoulder contusion. However, the good news is the 28-year-old's X-rays came back negative, so he's considered day-to-day and could return for the series finale against the Yankees on Thursday. Jose Caballero is starting at shortstop and will hit leadoff on Wednesday against Yankees right-hander Jhony Brito. Crawford hasn't offered much for fantasy managers so far in 2023, hitting just .239 (57-for-238) with four home runs, 14 doubles, 24 RBI, one stolen base and 39 runs scored in 68 games (279 plate appearances).

Tue Jun 20 202321:29J.P. Crawford Exits Tuesday's Game
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) left Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees prematurely after suffering a right-shoulder contusion, according to Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Before the injury, he was 0-for-2, bringing his season slash line to .239/.349/.349, while he also has four home runs and one steal across 68 games. If Crawford is forced to miss time, fantasy managers can expect to see more of Dylan Moore. The speedy 30-year-old has no hits yet this year over five games and is just a career .206 hitter. However, Moore has surpassed 20 steals in the past two seasons, so fantasy managers who are looking for steals and can take on his average might want to consider picking him up from the waiver wire. Stay tuned for more news.

Sun Jun 4 202312:36J.P. Crawford Out With Knee Injury
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (knee) is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the division-rival Texas Rangers. Crawford will take a day to rest after injuring his knee late in the loss to the Rangers on Saturday night, but the team doesn't think it's a very serious injury. And with an off day coming on Monday, there's a good chance that the 28-year-old will be able to return to action on Tuesday to face the San Diego Padres on the road. Crawford has gone hitless in his last two games and has gone 8-for-34 (.235) in his last eight games with a double, home run and two RBI in 36 plate appearances. On Sunday for the M's, Jose Caballero will handle shortstop duties and hit in the eight-hole for Seattle against Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi.

Wed May 10 202315:34J.P. Crawford Returns In Leadoff Spot
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (knee) is back in the starting lineup on Wednesday against right-hander Dane Dunning and the Texas Rangers, and he's also hitting leadoff with outfielder Julio Rodriguez moved down to the six-hole. Crawford is back in action after missing the last two games with a left-knee injury. The 28-year-old will be more attractive in DFS games on Wednesday in the leadoff spot. He is hitting just .240 (25-for-104) with eight doubles, one homer and 14 RBI in 34 games played, but Crawford has been getting on base at a nice .378 clip thanks to 23 walks compared to 26 strikeouts in 128 trips to the plate. If J-Rod keeps struggling offensively, Crawford could stick atop Seattle's lineup moving forward.

Tue May 9 202318:09J.P. Crawford Remains Out
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (knee) remains out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Texas Rangers. Crawford was scratched ahead of Monday's game and continues to sit out due to a left knee contusion. It sounds like a minor issue, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. Fellow infielder Kolten Wong (wrist) will be on the bench for this game as well. That means, Jose Caballero is at shortstop and Sam Haggerty plays second base against lefty Andrew Heaney on Tuesday.

Mon May 8 202321:41J.P. Crawford Scratched Monday
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (knee) was scratched ahead of his team's Monday game against the Texas Rangers. Crawford was replaced in the lineup by Kolten Wong, who will play second base, while Jose Caballero will shift over to shortstop. Crawford is dealing with a knee issue after he fouled a ball off of his left knee during Sunday's game. He has a chance to return to action on Tuesday. Stay tuned.

Mon May 8 202314:10J.P. Crawford Continues On-Base Streak
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford extended his on-base streak to seven games on Sunday by going 2-for-4 in the 3-1 win over the visiting Houston Astros. Crawford is hitting only .240 (25-for-104) with eight doubles, one home run, 14 RBI, a stolen base and 17 runs scored in 128 plate appearances and 34 games played, but he's almost walked (23 times) just as many times as he's struck out (26) in the early going this year. The 28-year-old is currently sporting a career-high .378 on-base percentage, which is extremely useful for fantasy managers in OBP leagues. Continue to roll him out there in fantasy lineups while he continues to get on base.

Sun Mar 26 202312:30J.P. Crawford Expected To Be Ready For Opening Day
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (foot) is expected to be ready for Opening Day on Thursday after fouling a ball off his right foot while hitting in the cages on Friday. X-rays and a CT scan on his bruised right foot came back negative for fractures. If Crawford's injury had been serious, the M's would have had to turn to Mason McCoy after Dylan Moore suffered an oblique strain a week ago. McCoy could make the team in Moore's place, as he's a plus defender at the 6 and can also play second and third base. The 28-year-old Crawford is more attractive for his glove than his bat, and he won't offer fantasy managers much power or speed in deeper leagues. His best assets offensively are his ability to make contact and get on base regularly.

Sat Mar 25 202317:54J.P. Crawford To Undergo Further Testing
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (foot) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Saturday. This comes after Crawford was scratched ahead of Friday's game due to foot soreness. It sounds like a minor issue, but the team wants to do additional testing to make sure it's not anything serious. The expectation is that Crawford should be fine heading into Opening Day. Although, fantasy managers will have to check back after the MRI for more information.

Sat Mar 25 202311:16J.P. Crawford Going For X-Rays On His Foot
Seattle Mariners manager Scott Servais said that shortstop J.P. Crawford (foot) will have X-rays on his foot on Saturday. Crawford fouled a ball off his foot in the batting cages on Friday but still took part in a full workout afterward. As a precaution, the team scratched him from the Cactus League lineup. We should know more on whether the 28-year-old will need to begin the season on the injured list by the end of this weekend. In his fourth year with the M's in 2022, Crawford slashed .243/.339/.336 with a .675 OPS, six home runs, 42 RBI and 57 runs scored in 145 games played. He's more of a defense-first player, but Crawford can provide a decent average and on-base numbers as a middle infielder in deeper leagues. But his lack of power and speed at a premium position doesn't make him all that attractive in mixed leagues.

Sat Mar 18 202319:03J.P. Crawford Expected To Play On Monday
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) is expected to return to action for Monday's Cactus League matchup. The left-handed slugger has been dealing with a minor shoulder issue, but appears to be doing better. Crawford was able to take at-bats during a minor league game on Saturday. He didn't play the field, but fantasy managers shouldn't be concerned going forward. It sounds like Crawford is day-to-day and his availability for Opening Day shouldn't be in question.

Thu Sep 1 202211:03J.P. Crawford Returns On Thursday
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (pectoral) is back at shortstop and is hitting sixth on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers and left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. Crawford will return after missing the last three games with a pectoral injury. Adam Frazier will move back to the keystone for the series finale against Detroit. Crawford is happy to see the calendar flip to September, as he went 17-for-78 (.218) with no home runs, six RBI, five runs scored and 10 strikeouts in 24 games in August. Overall, the 27-year-old is slashing .256/.335/.350 with five home runs, 33 RBI, 50 runs scored and three stolen bases in his 426 at-bats for the M's.

Wed Aug 31 202218:24J.P. Crawford Still Sidelined Against Tigers
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (pectoral) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers. It will be Crawford's third straight game on the sidelines, but he could be available off the bench. Fantasy managers should consider the 27-year-old to be day-to-day. Perhaps he could use a little break heading into the final month of the regular season, as Crawford has gone 17-for-77 (.221) with no homers, six RBI, five runs scored and nine strikeouts in 23 games in August. Adam Frazier is handling the 6 on Wednesday and will bat seventh against Tigers left-hander Tyler Alexander. Frazier is a very low-upside DFS option. The 30-year-old has hit a mediocre .244/.309/.315 this year with only three homers, 33 RBI, 54 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 451 at-bats.

Fri Jul 15 202208:04J.P. Crawford Nursing Finger Bruise
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (finger) was a late scratch from Thursday's game against the Texas Rangers. He is currently dealing with a bruised knuckle on his right index finger. He suffered the injury during Wednesday's game. The injury doesn't sound like anything major and Mariners manager Scott Servais is hopeful that Crawford can return on Friday. The 27-year-old has cooled off at the plate after a hot start to the year. Over 80 games, he owns a .266/.345/.382 slash line to go along with five home runs, 24 RBI and 41 runs.
