Olivera is out of the lineup Wednesday.
Olivera will take a seat for the second day in a row with a tough lefty (David Price) on the mound for the Blue Jays. Considering that Olivera is one of only a few Braves who has a legitimate future with the team, it would be nice if he were deployed on an everyday basis, but that hasn't been happening. Adonis Garcia will start at third base and hit cleanup Wednesday.

Olivera went 3-for-5 with three singles and a walk against the Phillies on Wednesday.
In the span of three days, Olivera's shown the merits of small sample sizes, taking his batting average from .133 to .286 by going 6-for-13 with a double, a homer and a pair of walks. He's not going to produce a lot of counting stats in the Braves' terrible offense down the stretch, but Olivera's showing he can hit -- take note for next season's drafts.

Olivera went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI in the Braves' loss to Miami on Wednesday.
The hit was the first of his big league career, as Olivera went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his debut Tuesday. The Braves will likely give him a long look at third base during the final month of the season, and that period should provide a better snapshot of what he's capable of offensively than his brief stints he spent with a handful of minor league affiliates earlier this season.
Wed Sep 2 201501:07Olivera 0-4 with strikeout in big league debut Tuesday
Olivera went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his big league debut Tuesday.
Now that Olivera, 30, is finally up with the big league club it would be surprising if he did not start almost every day going forward, as he should be one of the best hitters on the roster. He should not be judged by what he does over a one month span, but the talent is there for him to hit close to .300 the rest of the way.
Tue Sep 1 201515:25Olivera added to Tuesday's lineup against Marlins
Olivera was added to Tuesday's lineup against the Marlins.
Olivera was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday as rosters expand, and he'll get his first taste of the big leagues right away. Adonis Garcia was initially listed as the starter at third base, but Olivera will take his spot and bat sixth against Miami's Justin Nicolino.

Olivera was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
This latest news only confirms the news that surfaced earlier Tuesday morning. Olivera, a Cuban defector who came over from the Dodgers at the deadline, could see time at multiple infield spots over the next month, but third base will likely be his long-term home.
Tue Sep 1 201511:58Olivera will be called up by Braves on Tuesday
Olivera will be called up by the Braves on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
The 30-year-old former Cuban defector will join the big league ranks for the first time in his career. Traded to Atlanta at the deadline, Olivera has most recently appeared in 10 games at Triple-A Gwinnett, where he's 9-for-39 for three RBI and four strikeouts. In 35 cumulative minor league games across four levels this season, Olivera holds a .272/.326/.376 slash line. He's seen time at second base, third base and DH in the minors, but he figures to see most of his time at third over the final month of the year.

Olivera is not expected to join the major league club until rosters expand Sept. 1, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The 30-year-old's big league debut keeps getting pushed back, but it's understandable given he's been a bit slow to get his timing back after missing time with a hamstring injury. Olivera, who is expected to serve as the primary third baseman for Atlanta over the final month of the season, is 5-for-20 (all singles) since moving to Triple-A Gwinnett after going 1-for-17 between the GCL and Low-A.
Sat Aug 22 201515:17Olivera likely won't make big league debut until later next week
Olivera likely won't make his big league debut until later next week, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports.
It is still possible that Olivera could debut Monday, but according to Bowman's report, that should no longer be considered the most likely scenario. He has four hits and a walk in his last three minor league games and appears to be over his hamstring ailment. Olivera was assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, so he is certainly knocking on the door of a big league call-up.
Thu Aug 20 201520:37Hector Olivera: (Hamstring) Could Debut Monday
Olivera (hamstring) could make his major league debut as soon as Monday against Colorado, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The 30-year-old was hoping to join the Braves this week, but he's just 1-for-17 through six rehab games and Braves officials have decided he could use a little more time in the minors to get his timing back. Expectations are high for Olivera, especially after the Braves dealt one of their top prospect in Jose Peraza along with Alex Wood, Jim Johnson and Luis Avilan in order to obtain him. Olivera is expected to serve as the team's regular third baseman right off the bat.

Olivera (hamstring) is 0-for-14 with two walks and a run scored through five rehab games.
After two games in the Gulf Coast League, Olivera's rehab was moved to Low-A Rome. It seems the 30-year-old is readjusting slowly to live pitching after missing several weeks with the hamstring injury, and thus, it seems possible his progression through the minors will take a bit longer than expected. Still, Olivera seems likely to fill an everyday role with the big club in September, if not before the end of August.
