Sun Mar 20 201109:19Jensen Lewis could be released
Jensen Lewis is in danger of being released if he doesn't turn things around in a hurry.
He's given up nine earned runs over 5 2/3 innings this spring and has a 1/3 K/BB ratio. The Indians will have to pay the right-hander all of his $650,000 salary even if he's let go, but it sounds like they're willing to do so even though Lewis held a 2.97 ERA in 37 games for the Tribe last year. "There has to be some concern," manager Manny Acta said. "He's a two-pitch pitcher [fastball, changeup]. When you're a two-pitch guy, you have to have command of both of them at this level to have success. Right now, he's not commanding any of them and getting himself in trouble."

Tue Aug 3 201021:50Lewis ejected from Tuesday's game
Jensen Lewis and Indians third base coach were ejected for their part in a benches-clearing confrontation during the eighth inning of Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.
Benches cleared after Lewis threw behind Adrian Beltre to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning. The Red Sox likely thought it was some sort of retribution for Josh Beckett hitting Shelley Duncan and Shin Soo-Choo earlier in the game. No punches were thrown in the incident, but tempers were certainly flaring. After a delay of several minutes, order was finally restored, sending Lewis and Smith to the showers.
