Laffey was designated for assignment prior to Saturday's game against the Cardinals.
The Rockies only brought Laffey up to the big-league club to serve as a long man out of the bullpen on a short-term basis. After he tossed five scoreless innings over the last three days, he wasn't likely to be available out of the bullpen for the next two games, so the Rockies opted to boot him off the 40-man roster in favor of a fresher arm. He'll be replaced in the bullpen by Scott Oberg, who was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

Laffey's contract was purchased from Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Tuesday's game against the Cubs, MLB.com reports.
With the Rockies not expecting to receive a lengthy outing from spot starter Yohan Flande on Tuesday, Laffey was brought aboard to help out in long relief. Once the bullpen is no longer feeling the effects of overuse, Laffey figures to head back to the rotation at Triple-A Albuquerque, where he's recorded a 4.78 ERA and 1.60 WHIP across 58.1 innings.

Laffey was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Saturday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
The 30-year-old was credited with the win Friday despite giving up three runs on four hits -- including a homer -- over 2.1 innings against Atlanta. Rex Brothers is on his way to Colorado and will likely be added in a corresponding move, while Laffey figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and return to Triple-A Albuquerque to serve as organizational depth.
Fri Jul 10 201518:57Laffey's contract purchased from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday
Laffey's contract was purchased from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Laffey should provide extra bullpen depth for the Rockies in the immediate future, but he hasn't posted a great body of work at Triple-A This season. Over 19 games with Albuquerque, the 30-year-old hurler posted a 4.91 ERA and 1.61 WHIP with 33 strikeouts over 47.2 innings.

Fri Mar 28 201412:59Aaron Laffey released by Orioles
Orioles released LHP Aaron Laffey.
Laffey had been in minor league camp. The left-hander holds an unexciting 4.45 ERA and 1.52 WHIP over parts of seven big league seasons, but his experience and left-handedness will get him a shot somewhere.

Dodgers signed LHP Aaron Laffey to a minor league contract.
Laffey has been designated for assignment a couple times in the past week but has latched on with another organization quickly again. With the injuries in the Dodgers' rotation, it's a good landing spot for the lefty. He'll report to Triple-A Albuquerque for now.

Aaron Laffey has elected free agency.
Laffey cleared waivers after being designated for assignment by the Blue Jays this weekend, but he opted to refuse a minor league assignment. The 28-year-old southpaw has allowed 10 runs in 12 2/3 innings at the major league level this season, but it shouldn't take him too long to find a new home.

Fri Apr 26 201322:53Blue Jays designate Laffey for assignment
Blue Jays designated LHP Aaron Laffey for assignment.
The move doesn't come as a total surprise, as Laffey looked absolutely abysmal in Friday's spot start against the Yankees. With Brad Lincoln able to operate in a similar role for the Blue Jays, there wasn't a clear need for Laffey on the roster. He'll likely latch on elsewhere, but may have to settle for a minor league deal.

Fri Apr 26 201322:35Aaron Laffey walks five in rough outing
Aaron Laffey didn't deliver the results the Blue Jays were looking for in a spot start against the Yankees on Friday, as he allowed two runs on two hits and five walks over 2 2/3 innings.
Laffey was pushed into emergency duty after Josh Johnson was scratched from his scheduled start, but struggled mightily to find the plate for the entirety of his outing. The swingman now owns a 7.11 ERA, 2.21 WHIP and 9/10 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings on the season. With Brad Lincoln operating in a similar role in the bullpen, he'll need to improve the overall results soon or his roster spot could be in jeopardy.

Blue Jays claimed LHP Aaron Laffey off waivers from the Mets.
Another day, another waiver claim by Alex Anthopoulos. Laffey was designated for assignment by the Mets over the weekend after he posted a 7.20 ERA over 10 innings of work. The 28-year-old posted a 4.56 ERA over 100 2/3 innings with the Jays last season and will presumably pitch in long relief.

Sun Apr 21 201310:16Laffey designated for assignment by Mets
Mets designated LHP Aaron Laffey for assignment.
Laffey has struggled to a 7.20 ERA and 2.10 WHIP through 10 innings this season. Robert Carson was recalled to take his place in the bullpen. Teams are always desperate for left-handed relief pitching, so Laffey, 28, should catch on with another big league team.

Wed Apr 17 201301:28Aaron Laffey only goes four
Aaron Laffey lasted just four innings Tuesday against the Rockies, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks.
He also hit opposing pitcher Jeff Francis with a pitch. Laffey needed 77 pitches to cover the four frames, but the good news is that the number was low enough to where the Mets can bring him back on short rest Saturday against the Nationals. With a 4.82 ERA and 1.93 WHIP, he can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Tue Apr 16 201308:50Laffey start second game of DH on Tuesday
Aaron Laffey is scheduled to start the second game of Tuesday's split-doubleheader against the Rockies.
There was some speculation that the Mets would skip Laffey following two straight postponements, but they'll stick with their regular rotation order. Of course, things could change if any of Tuesday's games are wiped out due to the weather.
