Brown had an interesting 2014 season, moving into a starting spot while LaRon Landry was suspended, and playing well enough to keep said role. However, Brown was eventually pushed back aside by Landry, reducing the 26-year-old safety to a special teams role in the playoffs. The move to Jacksonville should assure Brown of a starting job, which gives him IDP appeal in deeper formats.

Brown has been a favorite of Bill Belichick since signing with New England after going undrafted in 2010. It appears he may have hit a snag in his development, however, as the team has buried him on the depth chart. Brown is no higher than fifth on the safety depth chart after Saturday's re-signing of James Ihedigbo.

The Patriots gave S Sergio Brown a four-year contract and a $35,000 signing bonus when they signed him off the practice squad before Week 7.
It's a similar deal to what the Rams gave Danario Alexander. Former practice squaders are rarely given four-year deals or signing bonuses that large, so it's clear the Pats value Brown. He made a game-changing tackle against the Chargers when he stopped Antonio Gates short of the first-down marker late in the game.
