RHP Taylor Hill and RHP Erik Davis were designated for assignment by the Nationals on Wednesday to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for newly signed INFs Daniel Murphy and Stephen Drew. Hill, 26, had no decisions and a 3.75 ERA in six relief appearances for Washington last year. He went 3-10 with a 5.23 ERA in 22 games, all starts, for Triple-A Syracuse.

Hill was optioned to Triple-A on Thursday.

He was up with the Nationals for one day before getting sent right back to Triple-A where he will continue to offer organizational bullpen depth. David Carpenter was activated from the paternity list as a corresponding move.

Hill was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday, MLB.com's William Ladson reports.

The Nationals essentially switched out long relievers, optioning Taylor Jordan to Syracuse as a corresponding move. Look for Hill to be used in low-leverage spots and mop-up duty.

Hill was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.

Hill wasn't going to stay around for long, given that Tanner Roark was coming back in just a few days and was going to fill Hill's exact role in th bullpen. The 26-year-old will return to his starting role at Syracuse and is likely just bullpen depth for Washington in 2015.

Hill was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Dan Kolko of MASN reports.

Hill was optioned to Syracuse on Thursday, but with Tanner Roark and his wife expecting the birth of their second child this weekend, the Nationals officially recalled him Friday. Over 12 innings of work with the Nationals this season, Hill has allowed five earned runs while striking out nine batters.

Hill made six appearances with the Nationals since being recalled May 30, allowing five earned runs on 14 hits, four walks and two home runs over 12 innings of work. However, the Nationals needed a roster spot, and with an impending move to the bullpen for either Tanner Roark or Joe Ross, Hill was the odd-man out of the rotation.

Hill pitched well in relief of an ineffective Gio Gonzalez Monday, allowing just one run in 3.2 innings.

Hill pitched well Monday, but has now allowed a run in five of his six relief appearances since being summoned from Triple-A. Working as a starter in the minor leagues, Taylor registered a 4.32 ERA and 1.45 WHIP.

Hill has been recalled from Triple-A and is active for Saturday's game, the Washington Post's Chelsea Janes reports.

A corresponding move has not yet been announced, but it could signify Stephen Strasburg possibly ending up on the DL. Hill had a 4.14 FIP in nine starts at Triple-A, but he will work out of the bullpen with the big league club.

Hill was battered for seven runs on 10 hits, walking two and striking out four over 4.2 innings of a 15-7 loss to Miami on Friday night.

Hill (0-1, 9.00 ERA) put together a solid season at Triple-A Syracuse, and made a couple of relief appearances for the Nationals earlier this season, but his first start wasn't too pretty. He's a sinkerball specialist, and isn't considered a blue chip prospect, so this spot start was probably more of a reward for his good minor league season than an audition for a rotation spot in 2015.

Hill will be recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to start Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader, MASN's Dan Kolko reports.

He hasn't started a game for the Nationals this season (although he has pitched 4.1 innings out of the bullpen), but 24 of his 25 appearances with Syracuse were as a starter, and he posted a strong 2.81 ERA at Triple-A. It's difficult, however, to see much upside with Hill, as he only posted a 14.7 percent K-rate at Triple-A.

It was a brief stay with the Nationals for the young right-hander, who allowed two runs over 4 1/3 innings (4.15 ERA) in his two appearances. He's likely to return the next time that the Nationals require an extra arm in the bullpen.
