Wed Dec 5 201209:26Report: Celtics considering Erick Dampier
The Celtics have considered bringing in free agent Erick Dampier "for a look," according to the Boston Globe.
Dampier looked woefully out of shape last season with the Hawks, so we can't imagine he'd be of much value to the Celtics. However, he is a big body who could grab a few rebounds, so perhaps that's why the C's are sniffing around him.

Fri Apr 20 201212:21Erick Dampier bothered by calf injury
Erick Dampier (calf) is uncertain to play on Friday.
Dampier was unavailable to play on Wednesday, but most owners probably didn't notice as the seldom-used veteran has barely seen the court this season.

The Hawks have signed Erick Dampier to another 10-day contract.
He gives Atlanta some frontcourt insurance with both Al Horford and Jason Collins out of commission, but isn't a fantasy asset.

Fri Feb 10 201218:16Erick Dampier will make Hawks debut Friday
Erick Dampier will make his Hawks debut on Friday night.
Dampier, just signed on Thursday, will back up starting center Zaza Pachulia. He shouldn't be on any fantasy teams.

Thu Feb 9 201211:52Erick Dampier signs 10-day deal with Hawks
Hawks signed C Erick Dampier to a 10-day contract.
Dampier said in June that he "definitely" wasn't retiring, but it's taken until February for interest to heat up in his services. The veteran will serve as depth at the end of the bench and not much more than that.

Thu Feb 9 201209:14Hawks looking to add center, Dampier possible
Erick Dampier is a "possibility" to be signed by the Hawks.
Atlanta is looking to add another center in the next "couple days," and beat writer Michael Cunningham threw out Dampier's name as one possibility. No matter who the team signs, it's highly unlikely that person will accrue any sort of fantasy value.

Wed Dec 28 201107:50Erick Dampier on Boston Celtics radar?
Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reports that the Celtics had an interest in Erick Dampier during free agency.
It's possible the team revisits Dampier with a real size problem inside, but the team will likely wait a little longer to make a decision. With just Jermaine O'Neal, Chris Wilcox, Brandon Bass and rookie Greg Stiemsma clogging the lane, the Celtics could definitely use some more help down low.

Tue Jun 14 201110:08Dampier says he won't retire
Free agent Erick Dampier says he is "definitely" not retiring.
Dampier, 36, did not play a single minute in the playoffs. During the regular season, however, he actually started 22 games. The Heat could bring him back for the minimum as a simple big body.

Wed May 18 201120:18No Damp, Ilgauskas again for Heat
Erick Dampier and Zydrunas Ilgauskas are inactive for Wednesday's Game 2.
This is somewhat surprising given how badly the Heat seem to need rebounding against the Bulls. Joel Anthony, Jamaal Magloire, Chris Bosh and LeBron James will be counted on to board for the Heat, and it will be interesting to see how this one goes in the paint.

Wed May 18 201114:04Dampier healthy and ready to play
Erick Dampier says he's healthy and ready to play if needed against the Bulls.
"There's nothing wrong [with my health]," Dampier explained. "We just made a decision to go with the smaller lineup. I've been going through practices, going through plays, so if I was called upon to play, it wouldn't be a problem." (Says the guy who desperately wants to get into a game.) Dampier last played on April 6, and even if he does get some minutes against the Bulls, it's hard to picture him suddenly playing a significant role.

Sat Apr 16 201115:05Dampier (knee) inactive for series opener
Erick Dampier (knee) will be inactive for Saturday's Game 1 against the Sixers, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas will start at center for the Heat.
Spencer Hawes could end up being an 'X-factor' for the Sixers if he can force the Heat to play the rangy, but stone-handed Joel Anthony. And while the Heat project to win at least one playoff series, none of the centers in Miami project to have too much value in playoff leagues.

Mon Apr 11 201110:36Erick Dampier to get rested for playoffs
The Miami Heat intend to give Erick Dampier (knee) all the rest he needs leading up to the playoffs.
"We're going to use the next few days to rest his knees and hopefully get him a little more fresh before the playoffs," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. He hasn't been officially declared out but it sounds like that's the way the Heat are leaning.

Sun Apr 10 201118:47Erick Dampier misses Sunday to rest knee
In follow up reports after the game it was revealed that Erick Dampier missed Sunday's game to give his knee some rest.
It isn't considered a serious injury. Regardless, he's not worth considering even when healthy...or starting.

Sun Apr 10 201114:57Dampier, Haslem, Pittman inactive vs. BOS
Erick Dampier Udonis Haslem (foot) and Dexter Pittman are all inactive for Sunday's game against the Celtics.
While he's not a big contributor, Dampier getting the inactive tag is a bit of a surprise. Haslem, meanwhile, will be lucky to see the floor before the playoffs.

Sun Apr 3 201122:24Dampier has double-double in win
Erick Dampier started Sunday and had 10 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks in a win over the Nets.
Dampier has played in 49 games this season, but this was the first time he scored in double figures. Don't even think about an add.

Sat Mar 12 201118:18Dampier starts for short-handed Heat on Sat.
Erick Dampier started Saturday's game in place of injured Zydrunas Ilgauskas (foot infection) but had just two points and two rebounds in 14 minutes.
The center position for Miami is a fantasy black hole, regardless of which sturdy veteran is starting. Among those to plug the gaps off the bench were Joel Anthony (18 minutes), Juwan Howard (16 minutes), and a rare sighting of Jamaal Magloire (15 minutes).

Sat Mar 5 201104:14Dampier likely to be suspended after shove
Erick Dampier was ejected from Friday's game after maliciously shoving Tony Parker to the ground, and finished with no points with two rebounds, two assists, and a block in 13 minutes.
He got a flagrant-2 foul, and will likely get a suspension because the play was clearly dirty and could have hurt Parker, who just returned from injury. Whatever the case may be it doesn't matter, as the Heat appear to be ready to throw away the concept of a center and roll with Chris Bosh there, anyway.

Thu Feb 24 201123:04Dampier starts, but very close to useless
Erick Dampier started again on Thursday, but could only manage five points and five rebounds in 29 minutes.
He did have two blocks, but we don't recommend him outside an emergency.
Wed Feb 23 201100:12Dampier starts, Ilgauskas benched for Heat
Erick Dampier started and played 24 minutes on Tuesday, but failed to score for the Heat.
He did have five rebounds, two steals and a block, and looks like the starting center going forward. Zydrunas Ilgauskas was a DNP-CD and could be permanently out of the rotation. If you're desperate at center, Dampier should be the new starter until further notice, but he'll also be unreliable.
