Royals signed 1B Ben Broussard to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Omaha. |
Broussard has hit well in the Mexican League and independent Atlantic League this season, but he seems doubtful to get a look in Kansas City. The 36-year-old has not appeared in a major league game since 2008. |

Wed Jan 16 2013 | 15:39 | Ben Broussard auditions for five teams |
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that first baseman/outfielder Ben Broussard auditioned for five teams Wednesday in Austin, Texas. |
Well, here's a blast from the past. The 36-year-old Broussard hasn't appeared in the majors since 2008 as a member of the Mariners, but he is attempting a comeback after playing in the Mexican Winter League. Rosenthal hears that he took grounders at first base and fly balls in left field during his audition Wednesday. He'll almost certainly have to settle for a minor league deal and a spring training invite. |
