Tue Mar 10 201500:11Skuta will sign five-year deal with Jaguars on Tuesday
Skuta will sign a five-year deal with the Jaguars on Tuesday, Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports.
Skuta started 17 games over the last two seasons in San Francisco and will almost certainly be the full-time starter in Jacksonville as he kicks off the first year of a contract worth $20.5 million. With this added responsibility, Skuta may be in store for a prosperous 2015 season as he seems to be in line for more snaps than in his previous six years in the league.

Skuta started Sunday's game in place of Ahmad Brooks, who was benched for missing a team meeting earlier this week. He finished with five tackles (four solo) and a sack in the loss to the Raiders.
After a solid start to the season, Skuta had slipped into obscurity recently with Aldon Smith's return and Aaron Lynch's emergence. He proved his worth with the opportunity presented to him Sunday, but he will likely return to his reserve/special teams role when Brooks is reinstated next week.

Skuta had a monster game against the Rams on Monday, recording three tackles (all solo), two sacks, and a forced fumble in the 31-17 win.
Skuta was a force on defense Monday, forcing a turnover for the second time in six games. He has taken over the primary right outside linebacker role vacated by the suspended Aldon Smith. Fellow right outside linebacker Corey Lemonier was a ghost Monday, so Skuta has apparently won that competition. Smith is serving a nine-game suspension, so Skuta should have some value until he returns to the field.

Skuta recorded two tackles and forced a fumble in Sunday's 28-17 win over the Cowboys.
As expected, Skuta split time with Corey Lemonier at outside linebacker Sunday. Skuta played the majority of base downs, and he ended up with a slightly better day. From an IDP standpoint, his value will be limited due to the time-split and the fact that Lemonier will be on the field for the pass-rushing downs.
Fri Aug 29 201419:25Skuta will be primary fill in at right outside linebacker
With news of Aldon Smith being suspended for the first nine games of the season, Skuta will be the primary fill in at right outside linebacker, CSN Bay Area reports.
While Smith is sidelined, Skuta will serve as the primary outside linebacker in base formations and Corey Lemonier will come in on pass-rushing downs. Due to the time split, neither will be big contributors in IDP leagues this year.

Skuta and fellow linebacker Corey Lemonier split time at right outside linebacker in Thursday's preseason opener.
The 49ers are expected to use a combination of Skuta and Lemonier when the suspension of Aldon Smith is finally handed down. Skuta would be in on base formations and Lemonier would be used in pass-rushing situations.
Tue Jun 4 201321:24Niners using Dan Skuta at outside 'backer
The 49ers are "mainly" using Dan Skuta at outside linebacker.
Skuta has primarily played inside linebacker. "He's got some good versatility outside and inside," coach Jim Harbaugh said. "But, right now, (we are) mainly working as an outside linebacker. But he has the ability to go inside as well." Regardless of his position designation, the majority of Skuta's snaps should come on special teams.

Fri Mar 15 201300:3149ers sign Dan Skuta
49ers signed LB Dan Skuta, formerly of the Bengals, to a two-year contract.
Skuta goes 6-foot-2, 248 and has a productive special teams background. The 49ers are looking for another Blake Costanzo, and Skuta has that kind of ability on kick cover. The 27-year-old also adds depth as a reserve inside linebacker.

Thu Mar 14 201313:19LB Dan Skuta to visit the 49ers
Free agent LB Dan Skuta will visit the 49ers.
After losing out on special teams ace Lorenzo Alexander, the 49ers are turning their attention to another one in Skuta. He played just 116 snaps on defense in Cincinnati last season, registering 26 tackles.

Sat Sep 15 201211:01No replacement named for Thomas Howard
Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis has not named a replacement for LB Thomas Howard.
With Thomas Howard out for the season, it's not a simple swap for the Bengals, as they do not have another LB who can play an every-down role. Dan Skuta is expected to get most of the work on early downs, with rookie Vontaze Burfict also possibly getting snaps there. Vincent Rey would then rotate in on passing downs. There's no IDP fantasy value to be had here.

Fri Apr 13 201214:09Bengals re-sign Dan Skuta
Bengals re-signed restricted free agent LB Dan Skuta to a one-year, $1.26 million contract.
Skuta made a free agent visit to the Chiefs, but they must have never made him a serious offer-sheet proposal. The 26-year-old core special teamer will return as a top backup at middle linebacker and on the strong side.

Tue Mar 27 201216:14Skuta visits the Chiefs
Restricted free agent LB Dan Skuta visited the Chiefs.
An undrafted free agent, Skuta was tendered at the original-round level, so the Bengals wouldn't receive draft-pick compensation if he signed an offer sheet they decided not to match. Primarily a reserve and special teamer in Cincinnati, it's possible Skuta could see heavy snaps as a run-stopping TED linebacker opposite Derrick Johnson in Kansas City. He hasn't taken any other visits.

Mon Mar 12 201219:38Bengals tender LB Dan Skuta
Bengals tendered restricted free agent LB Dan Skuta at the original pick level.
Skuta is a former undrafted free agent, so Cincinnati would net no compensation if another team signed him to an offer sheet it couldn't match. The Bengals shouldn't have to worry about that, but Skuta is a versatile, productive linebacker with special teams value. The tender value is $1.26 million.

Sun Jul 24 201110:15Skuta 'early favorite' to be Bengals SLB
The Cincinnati Enquirer calls Dan Skuta the "early favorite" to be the Bengals' starting strong-side linebacker with Rey Maualuga moving to middle linebacker this season.
Primarily a special teams player to this point in his career, Skuta notched just 16 tackles and zero sacks in 16 games a season ago. Finding an upgrade on the open market could be a priority for the Bengals once free agency begins.

Wed Aug 11 201009:55Bengals LB Skuta working out at fullback
Bengals LB Dan Skuta has recently been working out at fullback.
Skuta ran for over 1,000 yards and 20 TDs in high school, and he seems to be willing to help the team however possible. "Anytime you are doing something other than your normal responsibilities, it is just going to make things better for you." Skuta learned that lesson last year, serving as a practice squad player before joining the team early on as a special teams player. Skuta will not have a fantasy impact.
