The White Sox requested waivers on Leesman on Wednesday with the purpose of giving him his unconditional release, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Leesman made a spot-start earlier this season for the big league team, but it looks like his tenure with the White Sox organization will end after seven minor league seasons and two major league starts. He could serve as organizational pitching depth elsewhere.

Sun Sep 15 201309:16Charlie Leesman likely to get spot start
Charlie Leesman is likely to get a spot start soon.
Leesman gave up seven runs without recording an out in a relief appearance Thursday, but it won't affect the decision to give him a spot start. "Everybody that plays has games that don't go well,'' White Sox manager Robin Ventura said of Leesman's outing on Thursday. Leesman's spot start will allow the Pale Hose to give Hector Santiago some extra rest.

Fri Sep 13 201300:43Charlie Leesman gives up seven runs in relief
Charlie Leesman was charged with seven earned runs without getting an out in relief Thursday against the Indians.
Well, Robin Ventura sure did toughen the rookie up a bit by leaving him out there so long. Or something like that. Leesman is the first reliever to give up seven runs without recording an out since Hansel Izquierdo of the Marlins on June 24, 2002. Two starters have done it in the last five years: Jason Marquis in 2010 and Jeremy Hefner in 2012.
