Thu Nov 20 201417:16The Saints have waived Leonard
The Saints have waived Leonard, the team's official site reports.
Fellow RB Edwin Baker was re-assigned to the team's practice squad, moves that would appear to foreshadow the possible return of Pierre Thomas, who returned to practice on Thursday.
Wed Nov 12 201412:51Leonard signed with Saints on Wednesday
Leonard signed with the Saints on Wednesday, ESPN.com reports.
Leonard arrives in a banged-up backfield, as both Khiry Robinson (arm) and Pierre Thomas (shoulder) have logged multi-game absences to date. In addition, rookie back Edwin Baker sustained a concussion this past Sunday, which leaves Mark Ingram, Travaris Cadet, and Erik Lorig as the sole healthy options. If the 30-year-old Leonard makes a mark, it will likely occur in a pass-catching role due to 993 career receiving yards versus 828 on the ground.
Sun Dec 29 201321:27Leonard runs for 35 yards in Week 17 loss
Brian Leonard rushed for 35 yards on five carries in Week 17 against the Saints.
Leonard appeared in all 16 games this season and rushed for 182 yards on 47 carries and caught 29 passes for 179 yards. It was actually his most productive season since his rookie year of 2007 with the Rams. Leonard is set to become a free agent in March and should find a gig as a quality pass protector and third-down back.

Sun Dec 22 201317:33Brian Leonard touches the ball once in loss
Brian Leonard caught one pass for four yards in Tampa's Week 16 loss to the Rams.
Leonard was held without a carry as Bobby Rainey got bottled up for 37 yards on 20 carries. An impending free agent, Leonard is going to have trouble getting guaranteed money on the open market.

Sun Dec 15 201317:35Brian Leonard gets 1 touch in Week 15
Bucs RB Brian Leonard rushed once for 12 yards in Tampa Bay's Week 15 loss to the 49ers.
Clear lead back Bobby Rainey handled 12 touches. Purely from a fantasy perspective, Leonard has been worthless since the Bucs installed Rainey ahead of him following Doug Martin and Mike James' year-ending injuries.

Sun Dec 8 201316:53Brian Leonard runs 7 times for 26 yards
Brian Leonard rushed seven times for 26 yards in the Bucs' Week 14 win over the Bills.
He did not get involved in the passing game, which is ordinarily Leonard's bread and butter. His carries were spiked a bit by the fact that the Bucs were winning all day and it became a 27-6 blowout victory by game's end. Leonard is just a low-upside Bobby Rainey handcuff for fantasy football purposes.

Sun Dec 1 201317:14Brian Leonard held without a carry in loss
Brian Leonard was held without a carry in Tampa's Week 13 loss to the Panthers, catching two passes for 10 yards.
Buried behind Bobby Rainey on the depth chart, Leonard has just four touches over his past two games. He's off the PPR-league radar for the fantasy playoffs.

Tue Nov 12 201300:21Leonard totals 73 yards in Week 10 win
Brian Leonard rushed for 57 yards on 20 carries in Week 10 against the Dolphins.
Leonard added two catches for 16 yards. After Mike James fractured his left ankle on the opening drive, Leonard was thrust into lead-back duties. He looked okay on his first few totes but predictably wore down and ceded work to Bobby Rainey, who showed more juice as a runner. James is "out indefinitely." If we were to guess, we'd bet Rainey handles early-down work while Leonard sticks to his passing-down duties in Week 11 against the Falcons. Leonard will be worth a look in deeper PPR leagues, but don't count on him carrying the rock 20 times in one game again.

Sun Nov 3 201319:51Brian Leonard totals 68 yards in loss
Brian Leonard rushed five times for 20 yards and caught four passes for 48 yards in the Bucs' Week 9 loss to Seattle.
Leonard is the No. 2 back in Tampa Bay behind Mike James, and will stay in that role until Doug Martin (shoulder) returns, assuming that happens at all. Leonard is not worth owning in 10- and 12-team fantasy leagues.

Fri Oct 25 201300:25Brian Leonard makes impact in passing game
Brian Leonard had just one carry for seven yards in Thursday night's Week 8 loss to the Panthers.
Leonard played on all third downs over Mike James and was a factor in the passing game, finishing with six catches for 32 yards on seven targets. Even with Doug Martin (shoulder) out indefinitely, he remains off the fantasy radar.

Sat Aug 24 201322:23Brian Leonard scores his 2nd preseason TD
Bucs RB/FB Brian Leonard rushed ten times for 38 yards and a touchdown in Saturday night's third preseason game at Miami.
He added one catch for no gain. Although Peyton Hillis and rookie Mike James are also in the mix, Leonard was the starting tailback with Doug Martin (head) held out against the Dolphins as a precaution. Through three preseason games, Leonard has 16 carries for 61 yards (3.81 YPC) and two touchdowns. He's caught two passes. Leonard may be the slight favorite for snaps were Martin to suffer an in-season injury, but it's a handcuff situation to avoid.

Wed Jul 24 201309:09Bucs see Brian Leonard as third-down option
The Bucs see Brian Leonard as a third-down option.
The Bucs' backfield is starting to take shape. Doug Martin is going to be an every-down back and the bell cow. When he needs a breather on early downs, Michael Smith or Peyton Hillis will come on. When he asks out on third downs, Leonard will get the call. None of these backup-caliber players are a threat to Martin's projected workload.

Mon Apr 1 201315:43Bucs sign Brian Leonard to 1-year deal
Buccaneers signed RB/FB Brian Leonard to a one-year contract.
Leonard, 29, rushed 33 times for 106 yards (3.21 YPC) and caught 11 passes for 67 yards last year. A workmanlike journeyman, Leonard can play fullback and pick up the blitz, but he's not going to help Tampa as a ball carrier or receiver. Leonard figures to compete for time with D.J. Ward and FB Erik Lorig. Leonard played college ball at Rutgers under current Bucs coach Greg Schiano.

Sun Nov 11 201217:22Brian Leonard invisible in big win
Brian Leonard rushed four times for four yards in Cincinnati's Week 10 win over the Giants, and was held without a catch.
Leonard wasn't targeted in the passing game, and appeared to be surpassed on the depth chart by Cedric Peerman, who rushed six times for 21 yards. Peerman stayed in for an entire series with the game still in doubt in the second quarter. If you've been holding onto Leonard in a deeper PPR league, take this as an opportunity to make a roster move.

Brian Leonard (ribs) was upgraded to full participation in Thursday's practice.
He'll be ready for third-down duties against the Broncos. Leonard isn't nearly involved enough in the offense to be worth flex consideration in even exceptionally-deep PPR leagues, however.

Bengals RB Brian Leonard (ribs) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
It's a bit concerning Leonard couldn't get in a full practice coming off the Bengals' bye week, but he remains on track to reclaim third-down duties. He won't be a fantasy option in PPR leagues, however.
