Red Sox recalled RHP Robert Manuel from Triple-A Pawtucket.
He'll take the place on the roster of Manny Delcarmen, who was traded to the Rockies earlier this afternoon. Manuel has a 3.86 ERA in five appearances over two brief stints with the Red Sox this season. The 26-year-old right-hander had a sterling 1.68 ERA in 45 appearances with Triple-A Pawtucket. He deserves a look down the stretch.

Red Sox purchased the contract of RHP Robert Manuel from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Manuel will take the place of Friday night's starter, Felix Doubront, at least until Daisuke Matsuzaka needs his spot on the roster. Manuel's been very effective for Pawtucket as he has amassed a 4-1 record with a 0.98 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP in 26 games for the PawSox.
