RHP Dalier Hinojosa, on the disabled list since April 29 with a bruised right hand, was activated Sunday and optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. In a combined six minor league rehab outings in Class A and Triple-A, he went 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA. Hinojosa was 0-1 with a 3.27 ERA in 10 relief outings for Philadelphia in April.

RHP Dalier Hinojosa (right hand contusion) will continue his rehab assignment at Triple-A Lehigh Valley after three appearances at Class A Clearwater. Hinojosa gave one earned run while striking out 10 in four innings at Clearwater. He was 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA in 10 appearances with the Phillies, with eight strikeouts in 10 innings.

"It came to the point where it was going to take a few days longer (for him to recover) than we expected," manager Pete Mackanin said, "so we didn't want to go short (in the bullpen) for four or five more days or whatever it would take. It just made sense to do it now, especially (since) these guys that are late-inning guys when we're leading have been worked quite a bit, so we'd like to take care of them right now. If we didn't make that move, we're putting ourselves in jeopardy."

RHP Dalier Hinojasa left the game in the eighth when he was hit by a shot off the bat of CF Matt den Dekker. Manager Pete Mackanin said after the game he was hit in the palm of the hand and X-rays were negative. "He is day-to-day," said the manager.

RHP Dalier Hinojosa, who blew a save on Opening Day in Cincinnati, worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings Monday against San Diego and has not been scored upon in his last three appearances. Jeanmar Gomez has emerged as the closer in the reconfigured bullpen. Ken Giles, the closer at the end of last season, was traded to Houston, and Andrew Bailey and David Hernandez have been unable to win the job.

RHP Dalier Hinojosa allowed four hits including a two-run, base-loaded double in the bottom of the ninth inning of a 3-2 loss Wednesday night at Cincinnati. It was the second bullpen meltdown for the Phillies in as many days as Hinojosa failed in his first audition for the open closer's role. "They do (hurt) because we don't have a defined ninth-inning guy so we're searching for that," Philadelphia manager Pete Mackanin said. "We knew going in that we might lose some games not having a guy to close it out at the end."

Hinojosa picked up his second win of the season with a scoreless inning of relief against the Nationals on Sunday.

The Phillies' offense exploded for eight runs in the top of the ninth after Hinojosa had pitched the bottom of the prior inning. He has an 0.87 ERA and a 19:10 K:BB ratio in 20.2 innings this season.

Hinojosa was called up by the Phillies on Tuesday.

Hinojosa will return to the Phillies as a September call-up after being optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in early August. He's found decent success at the Triple-A level, going 3-2 with a 3.76 ERA across 29 appearances (55 innings) for Lehigh Valley and Pawtucket (Red Sox affiliate) on the year. In three games for Philadelphia, Hinojosa has allowed just two hits and no runs over 5.0 innings.

Hinojosa was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday.

Once considered a promising pitcher, Hinojosa never really blossomed into what was expected of him. He made his first mark in the majors this season with the Red Sox, but was later released and claimed by the Phillies. Despite tossing two scoreless innings with his new club, he will now return to the minors in favor of veteran Adam Loewen.

Hinojosa was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

The Phillies claimed Hinojosa off waivers in mid-July after the Red Sox designated him for assignment. He's never really lived up to the hype of his $4.25 million signing bonus in 2013, making just one major league appearance, but he'll finally get his chance with the Phillies.
