3B/OF Aaron Hill was designated for assignment Saturday to create a roster spot for 3B Ryder Jones, who was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento. He had hit .132 in 34 games for the Giants this season.

INF/OF Aaron Hill logged his 1,500th career hit with a third-inning triple in Friday's loss to the Minnesota Twins. The triple was the first of the season in 23 games for the first-year Giant. More than half of Hill's 1,500 hits (881) came in seven seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays earlier in his career.

3B/OF Aaron Hill was reinstated from the disabled list before Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves. He saw no action in the 2-0 loss. Hill had missed the club's previous 30 games with a strained right forearm.

INF Aaron Hill, on the disabled list since April 24 with a right forearm strain, is 4-for-14 (.286) with a homer in four rehab games with Triple-A Sacramento. He has missed 27 games since going on the DL.

INF Aaron Hill (right forearm strain) had his rehab assignment transferred from Class A San Jose to Triple-A Sacramento and went 1-for-2 with two runs scored in his first game with the Rivercats Saturday night. Hill went on the shelf April 24 after getting off to a rough start, going 3-for-25 with a homer and two RBIs in 12 games. He could be activated at some point next week.
