Wed Mar 2722:00Kris Bryant In A "Great Place" Physically
Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black says first baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant is in a "great place" physically, and he believes 25 home runs is a possibility for the veteran. Bryant is entering the third season of a seven-year, $182 million contract that is widely perceived as an albatross, but the 32-year-old four-time All-Star did hammer three homers and draw six walks over 43 plate appearances during spring training. Set to primarily occupy first base in 2024, Bryant should have a much better chance of staying healthy at the cold corner after appearing in just 122 of a possible 324 games in the past two years for the Rocks. Only rostered in one-third of Yahoo leagues to begin the season, the former National League MVP can't be discounted as a potential bounce-back candidate with plenty of slugging upside from a premium lineup spot in Colorado's lineup at the hitter's paradise that is Coors Field.

Sun Jan 2812:38Kris Bryant Says He's Healthy, Set To Play First Base
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant's first two seasons with the team have been marred by injuries, but the veteran slugger and former MVP said he's healthy and ready to turn things around in 2024. He signed a seven-year, $182 million deal in the spring of 2022 and still thinks he can be the player the Rockies were expecting. Bryant is penciled in to be the team's starting first baseman this year, although he will get at-bats as the designated hitter and could also see some time in right field. He started seven games at first base in 2023, his first time playing the position since 2021. In two seasons in Colorado, the 32-year-old has slashed .259/.378/.508 while dealing with plantar fasciitis, a bruised left heel and a broken left index finger. Bryant peaked in 2019 and hasn't been able to stay healthy in recent years, but he will retain outfield eligibility for fantasy managers in 2024 and could provide some modest power numbers if he can stay on the field while playing first base.

Fri Sep 29 202316:32Kris Bryant Still Out Sick
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (illness) remains out of action on Friday with the team taking on the visiting Minnesota Twins. Bryant has been under the weather of late and will now miss his fourth straight game. With just two more regular season games this weekend, we may not see Bryant again in 2023. Elehuris Montero is playing first base and batting cleanup, while Sean Bouchard is making a start in right field and hitting seventh for the Rockies against Twins right-hander Joe Ryan. The 31-year-old Bryant has had yet another disappointing season in his second year in Colorado, hitting .239 (70-for-293) with only 10 home runs, 10 doubles, 31 RBI and 36 runs scored in 327 plate appearances and 78 games in 2023.

Thu Sep 28 202318:53Kris Bryant Remains On The Bench With Illness
Colorado Rockies designated hitter/first baseman Kris Bryant (illness) is still out of Thursday's lineup for the series finale versus the Los Angeles Dodgers due to an illness. Friday's series opener vs. the Minnesota Twins marks the 31-year-old's next chance to return to the fold from his sickness, which has cost him the previous three meetings. Year 2 of Bryant's lucrative seven-year deal has been underwhelming once again to say the least, slashing .239/.318/.375 with 10 home runs, 10 doubles, and 31 RBI in 327 plate appearances. Elehuris Montero is at the cold corner and hitting fifth while Charlie Blackmon operates as the DH and leads off against lefty swingman Ryan Yarbrough on Thursday.

Thu Sep 28 202300:42Kris Bryant Has Been Under The Weather
Colorado Rockies outfielder/first baseman Kris Bryant (illness) has been absent from the lineup of late for the Rockies because he's been sick. Bryant played in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, but it's the only time he's been in the lineup in the last four contests for Colorado. Since returning from a long stint on the injured list on Sept. 11, Bryant has gone just 9-for-50 (.180) with two home runs, three doubles, eight RBI, 17 strikeouts and nine runs scored in 13 games (12 starts). The 31-year-old former Rookie of the Year and MVP has rarely been healthy since signing with the Rockies before the 2022 season and has hit .239 (70-for-293) with 10 homers, 31 RBI and 36 runs scored in only 78 games in 2023.

Mon Sep 18 202318:46Kris Bryant Returning To Starting Lineup Monday
Colorado Rockies infielder/outfielder Kris Bryant is back in the starting lineup Monday evening against the San Diego Padres and right-hander Michael Wacha. Bryant didn't start Sunday's series finale against the Giants but did reach base on an error in the ninth inning as part of his club's narrow 11-10 loss and will return to man first base out of the three-hole on Monday in San Diego. The former NL Rookie of the Year and MVP has had a down season while continuing to deal with injuries as he's hitting .254 with 10 home runs and a .734 OPS across 72 appearances, although he's hitting .280 with two HR and an .893 OPS across 27 plate appearances in the month of September. His fantasy stock has taken a turn for the worse, largely due to injuries, over the last handful of seasons.

Mon Sep 11 202319:54Kris Bryant Officially Activated From Injured List
The Colorado Rockies activated outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) from the injured list on Monday and designated outfielder Cole Tucker for assignment in a corresponding move. Bryant will make his return for the first time since landing on the injured list on July 25 with a fractured left index finger. He's immediately back in the starting lineup on Monday, playing first base and batting cleanup against the visiting Chicago Cubs and left-hander Jordan Wicks. The 31-year-old slugger should see regular playing time down the stretch for Colorado between first base, the outfield and designated hitter. Bryant has struggled to stay healthy the last two years and is returning to a mediocre .251/.338/.379 slash line with eight home runs, 23 RBI and 27 runs scored in his 243 at-bats this year.

Mon Sep 11 202316:43Kris Bryant Expected To Return Monday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) is expected to come off the 10-day injured list on Monday and play against his former team, the Chicago Cubs. Bryant has been on the shelf since July 22 after suffering a fractured finger on his left hand. It's been an injury-filled two years since joining the Rockies for Bryant. In 65 games this year before going on the injured list, he hit .251 (61-for-243) with eight home runs, seven doubles, 23 RBI and 27 runs scored in 275 plate appearances. The former Rookie of the Year and MVP should see regular playing time between the outfield, first base and designated hitter now that he's back in the big leagues. But fantasy managers shouldn't expect any kind of amazing finish for the aging and now injury-prone Bryant.

Tue Sep 5 202301:35Kris Bryant Takes Batting Practice Monday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) took batting practice on the field on Monday for the first time since fracturing his left index finger in late July. It's good progress for Bryant, but there's still no timetable for his return from the injured list. The 31-year-old should make it back to the Rockies' lineup before the end of the regular season this month, but he won't be of much help to fantasy managers. The Rockies will also likely ease him in at first base. The former Rookie of the Year and MVP hasn't been able to stay healthy in his two seasons so far in Colorado, playing in just 107 games the last two years combined. In that time, he's hit .273 (110-for-403) with 13 home runs, 19 doubles, 37 RBI and 55 runs scored in 456 plate appearances.

Mon Aug 28 202322:34Kris Bryant Getting Rid Of His Splint
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) had another X-ray on his injured finger on Monday, and the team will take him out of his splint to see how he responds. Bryant had the splint on his broken finger since late July, but he appears to finally be making some progress. It's a little late, though, with just over a month before the end of the 2023 season. It's unknown what the 31-year-old's next steps will be, but he won't be able to return to the big-league roster without testing the finger without facing live pitching and perhaps a minor-league rehab assignment. The former Rookie of the Year and MVP has been riddled with injuries since joining the Rockies in 2022. He's played in only 65 games in 2023 and is hitting .251 (61-for-243) with eight home runs, seven doubles, 23 RBI and 27 runs scored in 275 plate appearances.

Sun Aug 27 202310:12Kris Bryant Preparing To Play First Base Upon Return
Colorado Rockies designated hitter/outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) has been taking some throws during batting practice with his first-base glove while protecting his fractured left index finger. He is also hitting off a tee. The 31-year-old hopes for his next X-rays, which should come early next week, allow him to increase baseball activity. The Rockies have discussed with Bryant about playing first base upon his return, perhaps in an effort to have the oft-injured star defend a less demanding position. Bryant, who has been on the injured list since July 22, remains without a return timeline and will not be rushed back amid a lost Rockies season.

Mon Aug 14 202320:28Kris Bryant To Stay In A Splint For A Couple More Weeks
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) had another X-ray on his fractured left index finger on Monday, and it still showed a fracture. Bryant will remain in a splint for a couple more weeks. He's been on the injured list since July 22 and will remain there for a while longer. It's more bad news for the 31-year-old, who has missed his fair share of time in his first two years in Colorado. Given the fact that Bryant isn't going to return until around mid-September now, he's not going to have much time at all to contribute to fantasy lineups to close out the regular season. The four-time All-Star and former Rookie of the Year and MVP has played in just 65 games in 2023, hitting .251/.338/.379 with eight home runs, seven doubles, 23 RBI and 27 runs scored.

Wed Aug 9 202322:38Kris Bryant Still Has Splint On His Finger
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) wore a glove on his hand on Monday, but he continues to wear a splint on his fractured left index finger and has no idea when it will be removed. "They don't want me to move it at all," Bryant said. The veteran was hit by a pitch on July 22 and went on the injured list on July 25 for the fifth time since he signed a seven-year, $182 million deal with the Rockies in the spring of 2022. It sounds like the 31-year-old isn't close at all to returning to the Rockies, let alone going on a minor-league rehab assignment. He should be able to return in 2023, but at this rate, it would be surprising if he's back before the start of September. The four-time All-Star has had yet another disappointing season in Colorado, hitting .251 (61-for-243) with eight homers and 23 RBI in 65 games.

Tue Jul 25 202316:52Kris Bryant Going Back On Injured List With Fractured Finger
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) will go back on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a fractured left index finger after he was hit by a pitch last Friday against the Miami Marlins. In a corresponding move, the team will call up infielder Elehuris Montero from the minors. It's unclear how long the 31-year-old Bryant will be sidelined, but he's going to be out past the 10 days for his injured-list stint. The former Rookie of the Year and MVP continues to be hurt by injuries since arriving in Colorado last year. In 65 games in 2023, he's hitting .251/.338/.379 with just eight home runs, seven doubles, 23 RBI and 27 runs scored in 275 trips to the plate. Nolan Jones will continue to see more playing time in the outfield for the Rockies for however long Bryant is out.

Mon Jul 24 202316:16Kris Bryant Remains Out On Monday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Washington Nationals. The right-handed slugger will miss his second straight game as he continues to nurse a finger contusion he suffered over the weekend. The assumption is that he'll avoid the injured list, so fantasy managers should consider Bryant as day-to-day. Nolan Jones will cover right field and bat fifth versus left-hander Patrick Corbin on Monday. Fantasy managers should expect Bryant to return within the next few days.

Sun Jul 23 202312:12Kris Bryant, C.J. Cron Absent From Lineup
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) and C.J. Cron (back) are both out of the starting lineup on Sunday against the Miami Marlins. Bryant will sit out after leaving Saturday's contest early after being hit by a pitch on his finger, although X-rays came back negative. Cron will miss his second straight game due to back stiffness. Fantasy managers should consider both players day-to-day for now. With both Bryant and Cron sidelined, Nolan Jones will start in right field and bat sixth, while Michael Toglia will get the start at first base and hit seventh against Marlins left-hander Jesus Luzardo. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Monday to see if either Bryant or Cron will be available for the start of a series against the Washington Nationals.

Sun Jul 23 202310:51Kris Bryant Held Out Of Sunday’s Lineup
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) is not seen in Sunday's lineup against the Miami Marlins. The 31-year-old left Saturday's game early after his finger was struck by a pitch, so he'll get a day of maintenance here. Bryant is slashing a mediocre .251/.338/.379 with eight home runs, 23 RBI, and 27 runs scored in 243 at-bats as a 2023 fantasy bust thus far. Fantasy managers hanging on to the former NL MVP hope that Bryant can return to the mix on Monday for the series opener against the Washington Nationals. Nolan Jones patrols right field and hits sixth while Randal Grichuk operates as the designated hitter and bats fifth for Sunday's matchup.

Sat Jul 22 202318:42Kris Bryant Considered Day-To-Day
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) was forced to exit early during Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins. The 31-year-old was hit by a pitch on the right hand during the fourth inning of Saturday's contest. Bryant had a difficult time gripping the bat afterwards, so the team decided to pull him from the contest. He underwent X-rays that came back negative, so Bryant is considered day-to-day, according to manager Bud Black. Fantasy managers should expect him back in the lineup within the next few days.

Fri Jul 21 202316:24Kris Bryant, Randal Grichuk Return Friday
Colorado Rockies outfielders Kris Bryant (forearm) and Randal Grichuk (groin) have both returned to the team's starting lineup on Friday against left-hander Braxton Garrett and the Miami Marlins. Bryant is in right field and batting second, while Grichuk is the designated hitter and batting sixth. X-rays came back negative on Bryant's forearm after he was hit by a pitch on Wednesday, so he's back in there for the weekend after an off day on Thursday. Grichuk has been battling a groin injury and will be playing in just his second game since the All-Star break. Bryant is the safer play for DFS lineups against Miami, and he's gone deep three times in 12 games in the month of July.

Wed Jul 19 202318:39X-Rays Come Back Negative On Kris Bryant
Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black said that outfielder Kris Bryant (forearm), who left Wednesday's game against the visiting Houston Astros early after being hit by a pitch in his forearm, is going to be OK. X-rays came back negative on Bryant, and with a day off coming on Thursday, there's a chance he won't have to miss any games at all. The Rockies begin a series on Friday against the Miami Marlins on the road. Before leaving on Wednesday, Bryant went 0-for-2 to drop his season average to .254. The 31-year-old former Rookie of the Year and MVP has become injury-prone and isn't the same hitter he was in his prime, but he can still contribute in deep-mixed leagues at hitter-friendly Coors Field. He entered Wednesday's contest hitting .256 (61-for-238) with eight homers, 23 RBI and 27 runs scored in 62 games.
