Wed Apr 312:52Dominic Leone Serving As Opener For White Sox
Chicago White Sox right-hander Dominic Leone will serve as the opener for the team on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves in what is expected to be a bullpen game. The White Sox re-signed Mike Clevinger to fill out their starting rotation late in spring training, but he's not ready to make his 2024 debut just yet, so the White Sox will have to piece things together on Wednesday in the series finale against Atlanta. The 32-year-old Leone will probably only go an inning or two before giving way to the team's next bullpen arm in this one, so fantasy managers shouldn't be streaming him at all anywhere. The former 16th-rounder in 2012 by the Seattle Mariners out of Clemson has already allowed three earned runs without a walk or strikeout in 1 2/3 relief innings in 2024.

Tue Feb 1313:02White Sox Add Dominic Leone, Corey Knebel On Minors Deals
The Chicago White Sox agreed to minor-league deals with right-handers Dominic Leone and Corey Knebel on Tuesday that include non-roster invites to spring training. The White Sox now have 68 players in camp, including 28 non-roster invitees. Leone and Knebel will provide much-needed depth for Chicago's bullpen this year. Leone, 32, pitched for the New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners in 2023 and had an uninspiring 4.67 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, one save, 28 walks and 54 K's in 54 relief innings. Knebel, 32, tore his right-shoulder capsule in August of 2022 and hasn't pitched with a team since. He was an All-Star in 2017 with Milwaukee and has 72 career saves in eight big-league campaigns. Before his injury in 2022 with the Phillies, Knebel had a 3.43 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 12 saves, 28 walks and 41 strikeouts in 44 2/3 relief frames. Both pitchers will be battling for bullpen roles this spring.

Fri Sep 1 202308:35Mariners Add Dominic Leone
The Seattle Mariners claimed right-hander Dominic Leone off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. The 31-year-old has pitched to a 4.74 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 23.4% strikeout rate across 43 2/3 innings. Leone also has one save and three holds under his belt, splitting time between the New York Mets and the Angels. In Seattle, the 10-year veteran will add experience to the bullpen but likely won't factor into late-game situations. Fantasy managers can leave him on the waiver wire in all formats.

Tue Aug 1 202321:32Dominic Leone Traded To The Angels Tuesday
The New York Mets traded right-hander Dominic Leone to the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, according to MLB.com. In exchange, the Mets received infield prospect Jeremiah Jackson, who becomes the Met's top 22nd prospect, as per MLB Pipeline. Leone comes to LA sporting a 4.40 ERA and 1,24 WHIP with 33 punchouts, two holds, and no saves across 30 2/3 innings this season. The club has a solid back end of the bullpen, so the 31-year-old likely won't be much of a factor in any format going forward.

Sun Feb 19 202314:57Rangers Add Dominic Leone On Minor-League Deal
The Texas Rangers signed free-agent right-hander Dominic Leone to a minor-league deal on Saturday. Leone has worked under Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux with the St. Louis Cardinals, under manager Bruce Bochy with the San Francisco Giants and for general manager Chris Young with the Seattle Mariners. The 31-year-old reliever ended the 2022 season on the injured list due to elbow inflammation, and he had a 4.01 ERA (4.04 FIP), 1.60 WHIP, three saves and 52 strikeouts in 49 1/3 relief innings for the Giants in 2022. Leone will first have to prove that he's healthy in camp before potentially winning a low-leverage relief role in the Rangers bullpen this season. Fantasy managers can ignore Leone.

Sat Sep 10 202213:26Dominic Leone Has Been Released
San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Dominic Leone has received unconditional release waivers. The veteran reliever was put on the injured list earlier in the week with a right elbow impingement but San Francisco decided just to release him. He had an up-and-down season, compiling a 4.01 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and 52:24 K/BB ratio over 49 1/3 innings (55 appearances) out of the Giants bullpen this year.

Fri Sep 10 202113:59Dominic Leone Named Opener On Friday
San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Dominic Leone has been named the opener for Friday's game against the Chicago Cubs. It sounds like the Giants are going bullpen game here, which could honestly work versus this below average lineup. Leone has been excellent, posting a 1.55 ERA and 38/20 K/BB ratio over 40 2/3 innings this season. He probably isn't worth looking at as a streaming option. Leone isn't expected to work more than an inning or two in this one.

BOSTON (AP) — Rafael Devers hit two home runs, including a go-ahead blast in the fifth inning, to help the Boston Red Sox best New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole for the second straight time at Fenway Park in a 6-2 victory Friday night. The Red Sox maintained their one-game AL East lead over Tampa Bay and increased their lead to nine games over the third-place Yankees. Yacksel Rios (3-0) got the victory, pitching two scoreless innings to cap a strong night from the bullpen after starter Eduardo Rodriguez left in the second inning after experiencing migraine symptoms. NEW YORK (AP) — Taijuan Walker took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, Brandon Nimmo provided a spark in his return from the injured list and the New York Mets beat the crosstown Yankees 8-3 Saturday to open a three-game Subway Series. The Mets already led 8-0 when Aaron Judge homered with one out in the sixth to end Walker’s bid for the record-tying eighth no-hitter in the majors this season. Walker (7-3) was lifted after 5 2/3 innings and got a standing ovation from Mets fans among the season-high crowd of 40,047 at Yankee Stadium. Jordan Montgomery (3-3) stranded five Mets baserunners over the first three innings to keep it scoreless, but the visitors broke through in the fifth. Nimmo led off with a single, one of his three hits, and scored the first run. Thu Jun 24 202102:09Giants wait out Ohtani, beat Angels in 13 innings
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Shohei Ohtani struck out nine over six innings of one-run ball for the Angels, but the San Francisco Giants rallied for seven runs in the 13th inning of a 9-3 victory over Los Angeles on Wednesday. Steven Duggar had an RBI double in the 12th and a two-run single in the 13th for the Giants, who finally blew it open while the Angels had outfielder Taylor Ward playing catcher and starting pitcher Griffin Canning playing left field as the fallout from an untimely injury to Kurt Suzuki and a series of strategic decisions made to allow Ohtani to hit for himself. Mike Tauchman struck out five times before hitting a three-run homer to cap the Giants’ 13th-inning rally. Brandon Crawford put San Francisco ahead to stay with a bases-loaded walk from Alex Claudio (1-2), who walked three straight in the 13th. The 13-inning game matched the longest in the majors since the institution of the runner-on-second-base rule to open extra innings last season. Dominic Leone (1-0) won despite... [More]
