Tue Aug 25 201515:23Flores (shoulder) placed on DL retroactive to August 22
Flores (shoulder) has been placed on the DL retroactive to August 22.
Flores had already been scratched from his next scheduled start Wednesday, and he'll now hit the DL after failing to show much improvement over the last couple of days. Given the retroactive status of the placement, Flores will be eligible to return as early as September 6. In a corresponding roster move, the Marlins activated outfielder Christian Yelich from the DL.
Mon Aug 24 201523:06Kendry Flores: (Shoulder) Pulled From Wednesday's Start
Flores is dealing with tendinitis in his right shoulder and won't be making his expected start against the Pirates on Wednesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
The severity of Flores' tendinitis remains unclear but a stint on the disabled list could be on the horizon if his condition doesn't show any progress before the weekend. In the meantime, Chris Narveson will benefit from a spot in the rotation, starting Wednesday.

Flores (1-2) gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings while striking out five in a loss to Philadelphia.
Flores tossed three shut-out innings to start Friday's game, but ultimately unraveled during a four-run fourth inning. Having appeared in relief earlier this season, Friday was Flores' first big-league start with potentially more to come with David Phelps out for the season.

Flores is listed as the Marlins' probable starter for Friday's game against the Phillies.
The 23-year-old right-hander has made six relief appearances between two stints with the big club this season, allowing two earned runs on nine hits with a 4:2 K:BB in 7.2 innings. He will step in for his first career major league start Friday, and could get an extended look in the rotation with David Phelps (elbow) out for the year. Flores has posted a 2.34 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 84:29 K:BB in 19 starts between Double-A and Triple-A this year.

Flores took the loss Friday agains the Braves, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits over 1.1 inning pitched. He stuck out one and walked one.
Recalled prior to the Friday evening showdown, Flores cruised through his first inning in relief of Jose Fernandez and was briefly in line for the win when the Marlins took the lead in the top half of the seventh. He was able to get one out in the seventh before allowing three straight base runners (one via a fielding error), all of which would come around to score after Flores left the game. For the season, Flores has made three relief appearances for the Marlins, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings pitched.
Fri Aug 7 201517:14Flores recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Friday
Flores was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Friday.
Flores made two appearances in relief for the Marlins earlier in the season, and will likely do so again this time around. With an impending need for a starter following Jose Urena's injury, it's possible the young hurler's stay will be short once again.

Flores was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans following Friday's game against the Rockies, Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald reports.
Flores only stuck with the Marlins for a little over a week, but the assignment back to the minors still represents a promotion of sorts, as he had previously spent the entire season at the Double-A level. The 23-year-old acquitted himself well in his first taste of the majors, covering 3.2 scoreless innings. He had been previously developed as a starter at Double-A Jacksonville, so he'll presumably claim a rotation spot with New Orleans.
Tue Jun 2 201515:27Flores recalled from Double-A Jacksonville on Tuesday
Flores was recalled from Double-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Flores figures to work primarily in long relief after going 3-3 with a 2.06 ERA in nine starts for Jacksonville. He's posted a career-low 6.7 K/9 this season after racking up 9.5 K/9 in 2014 at High-A San Jose.

Flores could soon be called up to provide rotation depth for the Marlins, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
Flores would likely work in a long-relief role, making him the first or second option to get spot starts. He has a 2.06 ERA for Double-A Jacksonville this season, but a 7.6 K/9 indicates that he still isn't ready for the major leagues.
Fri Dec 19 201422:09The Giants traded Flores to Marlins on Friday
The Giants traded Flores to the Marlins on Friday, along with Luis Castillo, in exchange for third baseman Casey McGehee, Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
The right-hander enjoyed tremendous success at the Low-A level as a 21-year-old in 2013, striking out more than eight batters for every one he walked (137:17 K:BB) and giving up 43 runs in 141.2 innings (2.73 ERA). That success didn't carry over to High-A in 2014 (4.09 ERA), but Flores makes for a decent buy-low for Miami.
Mon Jun 23 201413:55Flores strikes out season-high 13
Giants prospect RHP Kendry Flores was dominant on Sunday, striking out 13 batters while allowing two runs in seven innings for High-A San Jose.
The 22-year-old yielded only three hits in the outing (though two of them left the yard) and also walked a batter. Flores was shaky over the season's first two months, posting a 5.94 ERA, .827 opponents' OPS (a product of nine home runs allowed) and 49-18 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 50 innings (10 starts). However, the right-hander has taken a step in the right direction in his three June starts, registering a 2.04 ERA and 27-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 17 2/3 innings.

Wed Apr 16 201413:43Flores strikes out nine
Giants prospect RHP Kendry Flores dominated on Tuesday, allowing three hits and a walk with nine strikeouts in six shutout innings for High-A San Jose.
Flores, 22, was signed by the Giants in 2009 and spent four years in the system before making his full-season debut last year. Making 22 starts for Low-A Augusta, Flores posted a 2.73 ERA and stellar 137/17 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 141.2 innings. Pitching in the hitter-friendly California League this year, the right-hander owns a 3.00 ERA and 18/3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 18 innings. Flores is still a few years away from reaching the major leagues, but his excellent command, age and spot on the Giants' 40-man roster should help him begin to move up the ladder this season.

Flores, added to the 40-man roster in November, went 10-6 with a 2.73 ERA and 0.92 WHIP over 141-plus innings at Class-A Augusta. The Giants claimed De Paula off waivers from the Padres in November. He and Kickham will provide bullpen insurance at the Triple-A level.
