Mets signed C Raul Chavez to a minor league contract.

He'll get a spring training invite. Chavez spent all of the 2010 season at the Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate, where he hit just .210/.260/.320 over 200 at-bats. The Mets are set at catcher with Josh Thole and Ronny Paulino, so Chavez will serve as depth at Triple-A, though he could make the opening day roster while Paulino serves the remainder of his suspension.
