LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — The Detroit Tigers selected the contract of right-hander Julio Teheran to the major league roster on Wednesday, solidifying his spot on the team after the former All-Star signed a minor league deal last month. Manager AJ Hinch also said left-hander Tarik Skubal has made the team. Hinch said left-hander Ian Krol and right-hander Erasmo Ramirez have been told they have not made the opening day roster — although they'll remain with the team for the rest of camp. The 30-year-old Teheran earned a $3 million, one-year deal that took effect when he was added to the 40-man roster. He can also earn $1 million in performance bonuses: $250,000 each for 10, 15, 20 and 25 starts. Teheran was 0-4 with a 10.05 ERA last season with the Los Angeles Angels. He was an All-Star in 2014 and 2016 for the Atlanta Braves. Teheran's ERA was under 4.00 in both 2018 and 2019 with the Braves. LHP Ian Krol was activated from the 10-day disabled list Friday after he had been sidelined with a left oblique strain. Krol is 2-2 with a 5.75 ERA with 37 strikeouts and 19 walks in 44 appearances.

LHP Ian Krol (strained left oblique) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday the day after he pitched two innings against the Dodgers, allowing a run while giving up two hits, walking two and striking out two. Krol has made 44 relief appearances, posting a 2-2 record and 5.75 ERA. He has 37 strikeouts and 19 walks in 40 2/3 innings.

LHP Ian Krol, a former National, retired his 18th batter in a row when he got Bryce Harper on a grounder in the seventh inning Tuesday. But his streak over seven games came to an end when Ryan Zimmerman singled later in the inning against his former teammate.

LHP Ian Krol was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett and gives the Braves three lefties in the bullpen. He was 1-2 with a 4.38 ERA in 12 relief appearances for Gwinnett. He had 14 strikeouts and six walks in 12 1/3 innings. Krol pitched a scoreless inning of relief on Tuesday against the Phillies.

LHP Ian Krol and LHP Gabe Speier were acquired by the Braves from the Tigers on Nov. 20 in exchange for OF Cameron Maybin. Krol, 24, went 2-3 with a 5.79 ERA in 33 games for Detroit this year. Speier, 20, finished 4-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 33 relief appearances for low Class A West Michigan.

Krol was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Anthony French of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Krol struggled as a member of the Tigers earlier this season, posting a disappointing 6.75 ERA and 2.02 WHIP in 26 games out of the bullpen. As such, he's unlikely to take the hill in high-leverage situations down the stretch.

Krol is expected to be called up by the Tigers on Tuesday, MLB.com's Jason Beck reports.

Having pitched to a 6.75 ERA and 2.02 WHIP in 26 games with the Tigers earlier this year, Krol's not likely to see high-leverage work and can thus be ignored in most fantasy circles.

Krol was optioned down to Triple-A Toledo on Monday, James Schmehl of MLive Media Group reports.

Krol got shelled on Sunday, giving up four runs while pitching less than an inning, which likely prompted the roster move. He holds a 6.75 ERA in 21.1 innings with a 22:13 K:BB ratio. He'll be replaced by Kyle Ryan on the 25-man roster.

Krol imploded Sunday, giving up four hits and four runs in 0.2 innings against Boston. He struck out one.

He entered the game with a 1.84 WHIP and 5.23 ERA, with opponents hitting .310 against him. This effort only continues to drive up those numbers and drive down his value to the Tigers.

Krol was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Matthew Mowery of The Oakland Press reports.

Krol has been sensational during his time in the minors this season, recording a 0.89 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a 22:9 K:BB ratio over 20.1 innings at Toledo. Unfortunately, he's been torched during his time in the majors this season, with walking batters being particularly problematic. Expect the Tigers to use him in mostly low-leverage situations until he demonstrates he can command the ball better.

The move will make room for Buck Farmer, who will be recalled to make a spot start Wednesday. With this in mind, Krol may soon be recalled to return to the back of the Tigers' bullpen, but for now he will offer depth at Triple-A.

Krol will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo prior to Friday's game.

He has pitched 15.2 innings in relief at Toledo this year and has a 1.15 ERA, but that success has yet to translate to the big leagues. Krol has already been up with the Tigers, and had a 4.76 ERA in 5.2 innings. He will be used in low-leverage situations.

Krol was optioned to Triple-A Toledo following Wednesday's game.

Krol has made six appearances so far for the Tigers in 2015, striking out five and allowing three earned runs over 5.2 frames. He had pitched on three of the last four days, however, so the team likely needed to make a move for bullpen help after starter David Price lasted just 2.1 innings Wednesday. Alex Wilson had his contract purchased from Triple-A Toledo, and will likely take a short-term role in the pen. This probably isn't the last Tigers' fans have seen of Krol this year.

Krol was mentioned by Tigers' manager Brad Ausmus as a pitcher he might use in the eighth inning now that Joe Nathan has gone on the disabled list, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Krol struck out two Twins in an inning's work Wednesday, but it's hard for us to believe a lefty specialist will be trusted as a high-leverage shutdown guy, unless his effectiveness against righties improves dramatically. However, he did deliver 10 holds last season, so he may help you short term if your league counts that category.

Krol has officially earned an Opening Day roster spot with the Tigers, MLB.com's Jason Beck reports.

Krol gave up four earned runs on nine hits over 9.2 innings this spring, but the left-hander has proven his worth in specialist situations, and that was enough to earn him a roster spot. The 23-year-old had a 4.96 ERA over 32.2 innings (spread across 45 appearances) in 2014, and should see a similar role in the upcoming season.

Krol has tossed a pair of scoreless innings since returning from a minor forearm injury.

For the spring, he's carrying a 3.38 ERA over eight appearances in Grapefruit League play. Krol is a strong candidate to crack the Tigers' Opening Day roster with his performance in Florida, in addition to Bruce Rondon's placement on the 15-day DL to begin the year.
