Mazzaro was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Saturday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
He has long been transferred to being a reliever, and a fringy one at that. The Marlins placed two starting pitchers on the DL Friday, so once their rotation replacements are called up Mazzaro will likely be sent back to Triple-A.

Mazzaro signed a minor league contract with the Marlins that includes an invite to spring training.

Mazzaro will look to continue his National League success with Miami, though his inability to miss bats at a high clip (career 5.5 K/9) will likely keep him in the middle innings, if he even makes the roster.

Sat Mar 29 201416:30Huntington: Pirates likely to deal Mazzaro
Pirates general manager Neal Huntington implied that the team is likely to trade reliever Vin Mazzaro.
"We've had conversations," Huntington said. "If he gets to the outright waiver process, it will be a surprise to us." Mazzaro was designated for assignment Saturday after he failed to make the team out of spring. He had a strong 2013 season, and it's not surprising that teams looking for relief help would call on the 27-year-old.
