Mon Aug 6 201209:04Brian Cardinal still hoping for NBA gig
Unrestricted FA Brian Cardinal said that he'd "like to play another year."
"But at the same time I understand it's a crazy business," Cardinal added. "I'm awfully thankful for the previous 12 years. I've played longer than anybody would have expected, myself included." It's pretty incredible to think that "The Janitor" has played for over a decade, but his playing career may be over in the NBA after he hasn't elicited any interest in free agency.

Brian Cardinal tweeted Saturday that he will be playing with the Mavs again this season.
"Jumping on a plane tomorrow headed for the Big D!," tweeted Cardinal. "Excited to be back with the Mavs!!! Let's get it!!!" We'll always appreciate his performance in last year's Finals, but Cardinal won't have any fantasy value anytime soon.

Wed Jul 20 201111:45Cardinal expected back with Mavs
Beat writer Jeff Caplan expects free agent Brian Cardinal to re-sign with the Mavericks.
Cardinal made major contributions in the Finals, is fast friends with Dirk Nowitzki/Rick Carlisle and is likely willing to play for the veteran minimum. He's a glue guy that will likely return to his customary bench role for the defending champs.

Wed Jun 15 201109:35Cardinal not going to retire
Free agent Brian Cardinal said he has no plans to retire.
Cardinal would like to re-sign with the Mavs. If he's willing to play for the veteran minimum -- which he should be -- he'll likely be back in Dallas. The Janitor appeared in 56 regular season games this season, averaging 2.6 points a night.

Thu Mar 10 201101:32Cardinal could become relevant for Mavs
Brian Cardinal played 21 minutes for five points and two assists on Wednesday.
Shawn Marion left with a rib injury and will be day-to-day, which could mean Cardinal not only becomes relevant, but could start if Marion misses time. The Mavs ran a lot of three-guard offense tonight though, so that's far from a guarantee. Just keep an eye on this situation in deep leagues. Corey Brewer, who didn't even play tonight, could also get into the mix if Marion misses games.

Sun Jan 2 201102:45Cardinal starts for injured Dirk (knee)
Brian Cardinal started for injured Dirk Nowitzki (knee) on Saturday, scoring seven points on 1-of-6 shooting (including a three) with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 33 minutes.
With Caron Butler getting injured he is going to be forced into minutes so long as Dirk is also out, but unfortunately, this is his upside. He's hard to even consider using as a desperation play in deeper daily leagues.
Thu Dec 30 201021:36Cardinal will start at power forward Thursday
Brian Cardinal has been named the starter for Thursday's game against the Spurs, filling in for the injured Dirk Nowitzki.
Nowitzki will be back in a game or two, so don't make any changes based on the Mavs lineup tonight.
Mon Sep 27 201017:21Mavs sign Cardinal, two others Monday
Mavs officially announced the signings of Dee Brown, Brian Cardinal and Adam Haluska on Monday.
Cardinal has a great shot at being on the opening-night roster, Brown could make the team and Haluska is a long shot at this point.

Thu Sep 16 201001:15Mavs looking at Cardinal, two other forwards
With news that Tim Thomas' career is over, the Mavericks are moving quickly to try to sign Brian Cardinal to take his spot.
They're also said to be looking at Bobby Simmons and Steve Novak, but regardless of which one of this trio they land, it's hard to imagine them being worth owning in most fantasy leagues.
