Flynn will work out for the Cowboys on Tuesday, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Flynn will be joined by Christian Ponder and Josh Johnson. The team hasn't yet decided who Brandon Weeden's backup will be while Tony Romo (broken collarbone) is out, but if none of the veterans impress them, Kellen Moore could also be activated from the practice squad.

Flynn was cut Saturday by the Jets.

Don't be surprised in Flynn resurfaces on the Jets in week 2. They kept him on the preseason roster while he was injured, indicating that they didn't view him as just a camp arm. By cutting him now, they are not on the hook to guarantee his salary. However, if they bring him back in week 2, his salary will no longer be guaranteed. If that's the case, he'll serve as Ryan Fitzpatrick's backup until Geno Smith (jaw) returns to the field.

Flynn completed 10 of 14 passes for 136 yards with two touchdowns and an interception Thursday against the Eagles.

Flynn and Josh Johnson were the only Jets quarterbacks to play in this one, and Flynn easily outclassed his competitor, as he compiled a passer rating of 111.9. He appears poised to start the season as the backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick, but his situation could become a bit tricky. With players being guaranteed their salary if being on the week 1 roster, it's possible the team could temporarily let him go, and bring him back for week 2 to avoid to the financial guarantee.

Flynn (ankle) won't be able to practice for a week, ESPN.com reports.

When healthy, Flynn is expected to back up quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, likely until Geno Smith returns. At this point, the earliest he'd see game action would be the third preseason game.

Flynn entered training camp with the Patriots but was unable to pass a physical due to an unknown ailment, resulting in his release from the team. After the Jets put him through a physical and workout Friday, the organization has opted to add the veteran to a QB group that will be sans Geno Smith (jaw) for at least the first four games of the regular season. Working beside Ryan Fitzpatrick and 2015 fourth-round pick Bryce Petty, Flynn will have three preseason contests to make his mark, starting Friday versus the Falcons.

Flynn was with the Patriots earlier this summer before being let go. With quarterback Geno Smith (jaw)out indefinitely, he'll compete for a backup role if the Jets choose to sign him.

With Geno Smith (jaw) out for 6-to-10 weeks and rookie Bryce Petty viewed as a long-term project, the Jets are seeking a veteran to serve as Ryan Fitzpatrick's backup for at least the first few weeks of the season. Best known for his stint with the Packers that included a six-touchdown game in Week 17 of 2011, Flynn has bounced around the league since that time and would likely represent a significant downgrade from Fitzpatrick.

Flynn has been released by the Patriots, the Boston Herald reports.

Flynn signed with the Patriots in June, but barely practiced with the team after landing on their non-football injury list ahead of training camp. Now, the veteran will return to the free agent market in search of another backup quarterback job.

Flynn (undisclosed injury) was placed on the Patriots' active/non-football injury list, ESPN.com reports.

The veteran signal-caller can come off the list at any time and once he does he'll provide the Patriots with depth and experience at QB, a valuable asset to the team, with starter Tom Brady in line to serve a suspension to start the regular season. Assuming Brady's suspension is not overturned, however, Jimmy Garoppolo is in line to fill in as the team's starter rather than Flynn.

The prospect of Tom Brady's four-game suspension likely spurred the move, no matter the Patriots' confidence in a reduction of the ban. Furthermore, Jimmy Garoppolo may require further study before he's thrown into the fire, meaning Flynn is a wild-card heading into training camp. In 46 career appearances (six starts) with the Packers, Flynn completed 61.1 percent off his passes (192-of-314) for 2,227 yards and 16 touchdowns versus 10 interceptions.

Flynn has not been offered a contract, but he may get a look as a second or third option behind expected interim starter Jimmy Garoppolo. As of now, Garrett Gilbert is the only other quarterback on the Patriots' roster.

Flynn appeared in seven games during the 2014 season and completed 8-of-16 passes for 66 yards. He did not throw a touchdown pass and was intercepted once.

Flynn served as the Packers' primary backup behind Aaron Rodgers in 2014. He started four games in 2013 while Rodgers was sidelined with a broken collarbone, but most of his action this season came in games where the outcome was decided before he took the field. It remains to be seen if he will retain the backup duties in 2015.

Flynn completed the only pass he threw for eight yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's loss to the Saints.

Flynn saw action late in Sunday's game with the outcome decided and starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers slowed by a hamstring injury. Rodgers does not expect to miss any further action due to the setback, but if for some reason he does, Flynn would likely start in his place.

Flynn completed 3-of-5 passes for 22 yards and threw an interception in Thursday's victory over the Vikings.

Flynn saw action late in the game after Aaron Rodgers was removed with the Packers comfortably ahead on the scoreboard. He did not do much, but wasn't asked to either, and remains Rodgers' top backup.

Coach Mike McCarthy confirmed Sunday that Flynn is the Packers' backup quarterback, Jason Wilde of ESPNWisconsin reports.

The team's backup signal-caller slotting is of course only of import in the event of an Aaron Rodgers injury, but per the report, Flynn slots in as the team's No. 2 QB, with Scott Tolzien in the No. 3 spot.

Flynn completed 5-of-10 passes for 49 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Titans.

Flynn did not have much success throwing the ball in rainy conditions and managed just 49 passing yards despite playing nearly the entire first half. Despite the bland performance, Flynn will almost certainly enter the season as the backup behind Aaron Rodgers.

And we now know why Flynn didn't make his previously reported visit to work out for the Giants on Tuesday. Flynn made five appearances (four starts) last season and completed 61.4 percent of his passes for 1,146 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also took a whopping 17 sacks and lost four fumbles. Flynn will have a leg up on Scott Tolzien for No. 2 duties.

Updating a previous item, free agent QB Matt Flynn will not work out for the Giants on Tuesday.

It was previously reported that Flynn was going to join fellow free agent Josh Freeman in the Meadowlands on Tuesday, but Flynn is not taking part for unknown reasons. There may have never been a visit scheduled in the first place. Flynn's best bet is to return to Green Bay on a minimum deal.
